Fitness 4 Less Reviews (10)

Terrible. I joined the gym around six weeks ago and all seemed well. Today I received an email telling me that the gym was being enhanced and Fitness 4 less were asking members for a contribution, the email went on to say that my contribution would be debited from my account in January! I contacted the gym and was told that the 'enhancement fee' is explained in the terms and condition. The gym should have told me about any fees before I joined, simply helping themselves to my bank account and then pointing at their terms and condition is completely unacceptable. Needless to say I have cancelled the direct debit and will be joining a proper gym.

This gym used to be Powerhouse GymThey closed their doors, changed their name, then changed locations but kept charging me for a monthly membership feeThey did not tell me they were open under a new name in a new location but they did manage to send me to collections over years after the gym closedRead the other numerous Google reviews about the crappy contract as well

I joined Fitness 4 Less because I felt like it was a trustworthy and caring gym. I used my 2 free personal sessions and enjoyed them, so I signed a contract to have a personal trainer once a week, for a year. The first 2 sessions were good, and I received my personal training. The next session, I was told to come to CrossFit. So I went and my trainer told me that I would not be charged for that session because it was not personal. So then 5 sessions later, I am still going to CrossFit, and haven't received a personal training session since my first 2 sessions. I thought it was wrong that my trainer had charged me for personal training, even though he knew I was going to CrossFit once a week, and not receiving personal training. So, the next time I went to work out I went to talk to the general manager, but he wasn't in. I instead talked to someone else (TC was his name I believe), who seemed very apologetic and understanding of my situation. He agreed that it was wrong and that he would talk to the general manager and have it resolved. So, the next time I went in for my session, my personal trainer actually had me go to the gym, and gave me my personal session. So, he only gave me my personal session because I said something about what he was doing. Had I not brought it up, who knows how long this would have gone on for. Was he just hoping I was dumb enough to pay 160 dollars on top of my monthly fee of 50 dollars, for something that was not what I signed up for? Yeah, pretty sure that's what he was doing. Anyways, I have received 2 personal sessions, went to CrossFit 6 times, and have been charged for 8 personal sessions. The general manager offered to give me a different trainer and to give me some extra sessions, oh the ones I paid for already?? He was not sympathetic of my situation at all, and seemed to have an attitude. He seemed offended that I had a problem with my trainer, and basically was calling me a liar. Sorry, but I am your client, and you should be doing whatever it takes to make me happy, not upset me and offend me by making me feel wrong for complaining about this problem. I do not want personal training sessions through this gym any longer, which I told the general manager, but he insisted that he cannot cancel. Well, I no longer trust the trainers or the gym to be honest, so I do not want a personal trainer anymore. I understand my monthly gym fee of 50 dollars is different than my 160 dollar personal training session, and that I will have to pay for that still. But, I will not pay for a personal trainer any more, and he should have cancelled it instead of trying to get me with another trainer. I would like my money back for the sessions I did not receive (6 of them at 40 dollars each), and for my personal training contract to be cancelled (neither of which the general manager did). Also, I noticed that I used a pin when I went to my sessions (the first 2 times). And I did not use one when he had my going to CrossFit, so I assume the pin is to verify that I was there and received my session. If that is the case, I would recommend looking into my account and seeing that I did not type in a pin for 6 sessions in a row. It's disappointing that I had this experience with the gym, I really did like it. They have a daycare for my children, which is great, but I refuse to be taken advantage of, and not get what I am paying for. If he did this to me, he is probably doing it to many other people.

I hope I can get a response from someone higher up than the general manager, this is the only way I seen to contact someone above him.

Thanks

Savanna J.

Review: I made several attempts to cancel my membership over the pass 6 months. I went into the gym and requested cancellation Nov of 2013. Two months pass and my card is still being charged. I went back into the gym to find out why my membership was not cancelled only to be told the person you might have spoken to no longer work here and I was provided a number to call to cancel. I called the gym billing company named [redacted], only to be told the call must come from the gym. My card was charged another month, total of 3 months for a gym I haven't used. I called and emailed and basically had to threated [redacted] to cancel my membership or the next call will be from my attorney. I was sure my membership was cancelled only to receive a bill from [redacted] today requesting payment for Mar, April and May because they were unable to verify I made the request to the gym in Nov. I believe this is a scam brought on by the gym to rip customers off. Total bill due with fees was $112.97! I agreed to pay $48.00 and hopefully today my membership is cancelled. Over all I am out $88.00!!!Desired Settlement: Not only do I request a refund for dues paid from Jan until now, the cancellation process should be simplified. Verbal should not be acceptable because of influx staff hiring and firing. Customers should have an avenue to cancel in writing via email or mail to [redacted] and the gym owners. But I do not see this happening because the gym wins with the current process.

Review: I have contacted Fitness4Less's cancellation center to tell them that I would no longer be living in Maryland in June of 2013. They continue to bill me after my call to the cancellation center and they are still sending bills through the email to me about charges that I continue to accrue even in my departure from the state. This state does not have a Fitness4Less here in Georgia and they continue to bill me and ask for money even when I no longer living in the area. Fitness4Less has been accruing charging for the past 4 months when all of my information was changed to my new address in [redacted], Georgia. They never changed any information they continue to bill my account and take money from me even when I was not there and now that all of my information has changed they continue to send email that I owe them when they were called about my moving to another state.Desired Settlement: End my membership with them and stop the addition of fees for a gym that I cannot attend due to the change in my living area. I have paid them what they are owed and I called to tell them about my moving to another state. They continue to asked for membership fees for a gym which I cannot be a member due to location.

Review: I been a member of this Gym for over a year. Making my payments via credit card. I began to notice around late 2012 into 2013 that my credit card would go over its limit which I never had prior issues with. Upon checking my statements I noticed the company "[redacted]" who handles the credit and debit card billing for this Gym was charging my card a $29.00 penalty on one day then the following day they would charge my card for the membership fee to the Gym of $20. I would dispute this to the point of submitting a statement to the [redacted] company explaining to them that it is wrong and unfair to charge a penalty ahead of the initial agreed charge for membership and commanded them to cease use of charging my credit card and I blocked use of them to charge my card. I am willing to pay the membership that is due. Rather it is unfair and unehical to attempt to collect a penalty ahead of the charge for membership.Desired Settlement: remove all penalty charges and allow payment for unpaid months of membership fee due to this issue with no regress.

Review: The company sold itself as a month to month, cancel anytime after enrollment operation. They did not disclose that a cancellation fee would be involved. Now that my two year term period is over they are requesting a 30 day written request for cancellation. If the request is sent ahead of time, as in now while I am thinking about it, it automatically activates the next month's payment and a cancellation fee.Desired Settlement: More transparency in disclosing the true conditions of their membership and simpler cancellation procedures.

Review: I ended my membership in April of 2013. I was continually billed for the months of May through September (5 months) in the amount of $19.99 per month. Continued attempts to get a refund have miserably failed. Numerous messages have been left with management, all of which have been ignored.Desired Settlement: Please refund my funds in the amount of $100

Review: I have moved out of the state due to very critical illness. I have contacted the company several times and advised them this and they do not provide any resolution. None of my emails are returned and there is no way for me to use the facilities since I live in California and am ill.Desired Settlement: I would like to get a refund for 6 months charges of $120.00, since I have moved out of the state and unable to use the facility. I have sent 20 emails to request cancellation, since there is NO WAY possible I can use the facility and have NOT RECEIVED ANY FEEDBACK or a courtesy phone call or any response at all

Review: The sales person who signed me up for a gym membership falsely presented the contractual obligations, telling me that cancellation of my month-to-month membership within a one year period would result in a 75.00 fee, and that I could choose to renew the membership at the end of the year. I was explicitly misled into believing that the membership would expire at 12 months automatically and that no fee would be assessed after that time. Instead I was charged on month 13 and the company and their billing agency stated I must give 30 days notice for cancellation, thus I will be charged for two months beyond what I was originally told by the sales person, and I will be assessed a cancellation fee of $50.00. This post-year term renewal/cancellation fee is not explicit in the contract and runs counter to the explanation of the sales associate who explained the membership and fee schedule.Desired Settlement: Reimbursement of January 2014 membership payment and waiver of February 2014 membership payment and cancellation fee.
