BEWARE of this FEE ADDING Company Get EVERYTHING in WRITING before you sign anything with them and KEEP A RECORDMake sure to ask what you can be charged extra for BEFORE YOU HIRE THEM It seems to be the best moving company when doing your research but they don't let you know what they can add onto your bill They add on fee's that you won't know about until after the fact What ever you want to hear they will tell you Have them put it all your needs in WRITING before you sign with them READ ALL their one and two star REVIEWS BEWARE!!
The owner of this company contacted us to say we didn't pay our bill months after we paid them THANKFULLY I saved all the receipts and bank statements It's tax time in February This alarms me that hey don't take care of their books well Can they go after anyone who paid their bill in the past? If you didn't keep your receipts you may be a victim of theirs in court
Furthermore, these boys showed up to move my mothers furniture hours late One with a twisted ankle They were supposed to be at her apartment at 1pm and showed at 6pm They said they had to charge me $to get to my mothers apartment because they came from Westfield, MAI mapped it out and it was miles away which cost $a mile just to arrive hours lateThis was not in the contract My mom had a stroke and we had to move her to NY Needless to say it was the worst move experience ever

These guys made moving easy! I was so impressed on how easy it was to schedule the move, have them load up the truck and move into my new homeThey texted me friendly reminders and tips on moving and asked if I needed any extra supplies on move in dayThe two men who showed up were professional, efficient and energeticThey were considerate of my items and wrapped all of my furniture so as to not get damagedNot one thing broke!!! I was so impressed with their service, management and experienceI highly recommend them!

My couch was damaged during our move, Five college movers is not willing to repair the couch to the condition it was in before the move. I hired five college movers on the basis that they were going to provide a stress free move, the actual move date was [redacted] when Luis was moving a piece of my sectional couch, it got stuck on the door frame and caused a tear in the couch. After they were done with the move I let him know about the rip and he told me no problem, he will start a damage claim and [redacted] will take care of it. Up until this point my experience was good so I trusted him that [redacted] and Five College Movers would make it right. The report was filed on [redacted] after almost 4 weeks of calling [redacted] to try and resolve this situation, today, [redacted] finally called me back and said he was sending a check and the amount was sent in an Email. The couch portion that was damaged cost me [redacted] they offered [redacted] for my compensation. When I said that this amount wasn't going to work for me [redacted] attitude changed from the nice helpful guy I had spoken with before. He even went as far as trying to elude that I only said something about the damage when the final bill was presented to try and get money back. I couldn't think of a less professional way for a company to treat their customer.Desired SettlementI am looking for five college movers to compensated me for the cost of fixing my furniture so that it is back to the condition that it was in before the move. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@fivecollegemovers.comFive College Movers performed a move for [redacted] on [redacted] We were notified of damage that day. The crew filled out there portion of the claim form, and so did the client. We processed the claim (doesn't happen immediately) and determined the client would be contractually obligated to [redacted] to repair the damage to the couch. After looking into couch repair kits (that average [redacted] Five College Movers determined we would go above and beyond the contractual agreed upon amount of compensation, and awarded [redacted] for the damage. Our contract is very clear on insurance options. It is the same contract and terms used by all movers in the [redacted] of [redacted] We send our contract out ahead of time to clients electronically, so they may review the contract and ask questions. The contract and its terms is not a secret. The damage to the (noticeably old and worn) couch was in fact, very minor. About a half inch tear. We stand behind our work, and determined that even though the damage was minor and could be fixed easily, we would double the compensation the client was entitled too under four agreement. We sent the client [redacted] to settle the claim. Not much else we can do.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I was never sent a check for any repair money from 5 college movers. They told me thats all they would do, but still I have seen no compensation. I still do not think ** dollars is a fair compensation and am not willing to fix the couch myself. I am not an upholsterer by trade and want the couch fixed professionally and not with some "as seen on tv" couch fix kit that will not last. The couch is not noticably old and worn... It is 5 years old and still in excellent condition. By [redacted] saying this it shows his true character, instead of manning up and fixing the damage his buisness caused, he choses to try and dismiss the real issue and interject his personal opinion(combined with a passive [redacted] insult) to try and take attention away from the fact that his comapny caused damage and he is not willing to do anything about it. I never signed any contract saying what the insurance was, and he never once explained the insurance policy to my wife or myself on the phone or in person. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I have recieved no check from five college moversFinal Business Response We have provided our response already. In terms of the check for [redacted] we have contacted TD Bank Bill Pay and asked them to issue a 2nd check. The client should receive this shortly.

Quoted a price for moving services and actual price was much higher.I obtained a moving quote from [redacted] for Five College Movers. We went through the home and I showed him exactly what would be staying and what would be going. One item was a 500lb safe that was a concern of mine. I also told him we needed to make another stop 3 minutes away to pick up a few items at another location. He quoted me 7 hours for a total of $1190.70. I specifically asked him if he thought this amount would be higher and would take longer than 7 hours. He told me that as long as I had all of my stuff boxed up that I would be fine and it should even be less than 7 hours. We had everything boxed up and did not bring our dining room or patio sets. When the movers were finished the invoice was for 9.5 hours and a total of $1710.50. I was shocked. The head of the moving crew told me to contact [redacted] because he has been quoting very low to get jobs. I did contact him and he refunded me $236.30 for a total of $1474.20. However I mentioned to him that we purchased pizza for the workers but I was charged for the entire time they ate lunch. I was also charged for the second moving truck disappearing for about 20 minutes on the way to the second location. I guess they stopped at a convenience store for drinks, but it was all on my dime. Had I known that I would be charged for the time they were eating lunch I would not have purchased the pizza for them. I was charged $189 per hour and between lunch and the missing truck for 20 minutes I believe I should be credited and additional hour. Desired SettlementI would like an additional $189 taken off of my bill. Business Response Our Detailed Response can be viewed here: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s327/sh/eae75efa-9cf0-4cXX-XXXX-XXaa0dcee49f/a05d... of Response: 1. FCM Statement2. Customer Timeline2. A. Customer Move Contract3. Response to Customers Statements4. Explanation of Final Charges5. ClosingPlease contact [redacted] @ XXX-XXX-XXXX with any questions. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do appreciate the prompt refund that I received from [redacted]. I do realize that estimating jobs is not an exact science however the crew leader on site DID say that they have recently run into the problem of the jobs being quoted too low and that Mr. [redacted] should be using a particular method to quote the jobs. I am not in the moving business so I do not know what method they were talking about. The crew leader even told me that he would take off a half an hour for lunch but he would have to rewrite everything and at that point it was late and they all wanted to get home. I told him not to worry about it and that I would take it up with Mr. [redacted] the next day. I realize it is a physically demanding job and that the movers are entitled to breaks....which they did take for a few minutes here and there...that wasn't the issue. The issue was that I could have been credited the half an hour lunch break (but said I would deal with it the next day rather than have them redo all the paperwork), and the second truck did disappear for at least 20 minutes when it should have been at the second location. As for not seeing the second location it was literally 3 minutes away from the first location. I asked Mr. [redacted] if he wanted to see it and he stated he did not need to. There were not that many items at that location and it didn't take long. There were contractor trucks in the driveway at the new location which were moved....that may have taken about 10 minutes......but contractors were not in the way of the movers at all. They were in the basement and the upstairs master bedroom. As for posting reviews on some websites I was looking at reviews to see if anyone else had this problem. I was going to give a good review but was so disappointed in the final bill that I didn't feel that I could with a good conscience. I do appreciate the refund and how quickly he processed it, but I still feel like I should be compensated an additional hour. Mr. [redacted] has a company that can be successful as he has many hard workers who are professional and courteous. No move is perfect and no business is perfect. I would appreciate the additional hour refund. I did specifically ask Mr. [redacted] on a few different occasions how close he felt his estimate would be and he assured me that he did not foresee any additional hours. So even though he did refund me a portion I feel that the time quoted was way off.Final Business Response We have addressed all issues several times and will not be refunding any additional money. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)While I do appreciate the responsiveness of Mr. [redacted] I still believe that we should be compensated at least an additional hour. I do realize that I signed a contract stating that charges are bases on actual time. However, when a quote is that far off how do we know that the actual time is reliable? If Mr [redacted] has been doing this for a long time then his quotes should be accurate. How can someone sign a contract for $1100 and be charged $1700. What if I had refused to write a check for anything different then the estimate? Actually that is what I should have done. He did refund me $236 but I still was overcharged several hundred dollars. I firmly believe I should be refunded at least an additional hour.
