In April, the customer brought me two dresses to be made into one dress for a wedding [redacted] We discussed design,...

material, style, pictures and cost of the dress alterations. we came to an agreement and I started working on her dress. The original dresses were made of satin and sheer with beading. The new design was to be fitted body with a flared tail and long train in the back. After the alterations were started, the customer asked about having 3 bridesmaids dresses altered, 4 pocket hanky cards made to match the dresses and enquired about having her fiancé's suit altered and the cost of ties. Two of [redacted]s dresses required major alterations from being 3 sizes too big and floor length made into a cocktail length. The design of the top of the dresses all needed to be altered as well. One of the dresses had only minor alterations required but was later switched out for a different colour also requiring a major amount of alterations. At the first fitting of the brides dress, she decided the style of the dress design was not going to suit her body well so she wanted changes made to the design. This required redoing the dress again. The second fitting required a few alterations to meet the new design but the bride wanted a more form fitted look and tighter bottom. I explained that the dress material would not allow for the stretch to get in and out of the dress with the extra changes without lowering the back more or adding a zipper. the bride did not want a zipper so I lowered the back and form fitting the buttocks area as she requested. One bridesmaid dress was picked up and paid for by [redacted]. She stated she was extremely happy with the fit, the style and my work. The next bride fitting required some alterations to help get the bride in the dress more comfortably. I added a piece of stretch lace to the back to ease the pull of the material. The bride stayed for three hours while I did the alterations. She said that she had an appointment and had to get back so after trying on the dress again, she stated that she was thrilled with everything and it was exactly what she wanted. I took pictures of her in the dress with her smiling about it. We even discussed undergarments to wear with the dress. She left the shop a very happy bride with the 4 pocket hanky cards and her dress after paying for it in full along with leaving a $[redacted] tip. She said she was going to go home to try on her dress several time for everyone to see. Later that evening, [redacted] called me saying that the bride was not happy with the dress. I told her I would be happy to fix whatever problems she had and she should call me. Much later that evening, the bride messaged me [redacted] stating that she wasn't happy with the dress and it was too tight. She claimed that the dress was not what she wanted and the work was done incorrectly. I offered to repair any issues she had and even offered to purchased a suitable stretchy material to remake the bottom of the dress so it fit her body tight with better accessibility at no extra charge to her. She said she was not mad at me and that I had done a great job on [redacted] dresses and the pocket hanky cards. She also said it was really nice of me to offer to fix it with no added expense to her but it was all a matter of time for her. I assured her it could be done in time for her wedding. She said she would have to discuss it with her fiancé and get back to me. I did not hear anything from her for 24 hours and after leaving messages with no response, I contacted [redacted] who said the bride had purchased a new dress. The next day, I heard back from the bride who stated she had taken the dress to another seamstress who said the dress was not fixable with the material left in the dress so she decided to purchase a new dress that required some alterations as well. She had taken it to another seamstress to have it done. She then insisted that I refund the cost of the alterations that I had done for her dress and the cost of the alterations for the new dress. I told her I was not able to refund the cost of the alterations but I would be willing to refund the $[redacted] tip and still do the alterations to the original dress so she could wear it for another occasion or to sell it in order to recoup some of her money back. She didn't want to do that and said if I didn't agree to pay back the money, she would have to look into legal matters. The next day [redacted] came to pick up her dress. I felt it needed to have a bit more taken off to fix the hem on it. She said she would come back in the evening to pick it up and paid for the dress before she left. I received an irate phone call from the bride wanting to know what was wrong with [redacted] dress and why she couldn't take it. I explained it was a simple hem fix and she was coming back that evening with the 3rd bridesmaid. When the two remaining bridesmaids arrived, they were on a time line so we went right in to the fitting room. They were both happy with the fit, the style, the design of the dresses and the work. I asked specifically if there were any concerns they had with the dresses at all and if they were happy with everything. They said they had no complaints at all. They paid for the 3rd dress, thanked me and left with the dresses. The next day I received a message from the groom stating that they required a full refund from the wedding dress, all three bridesmaid dresses and the cost of alterations that had to be done to all of them in order to make them wearable. I explained to him that if there were things that needed to be fixed on any of the dresses, I was more than willing to repair them, but I would not be refunding any money. [redacted]
