Review: My car died on me on 12/3/15 so I parked it on the side of the road, which was right across from a public park. I left for 10 minutes down the street to buy a part for my car. When I came back a police car was present and he informed me that he had called a tow. I told him it's ok I will call my own tow from my insurance company and he said the tow truck is already on their way and that I will have to tell it to the tow. When the tow got there I told him I am declining his services because I don't want to pay for two tow services, one from them to take my car to their yard and another one to take my car off their yard to bring it to a body shop. The tow guy ([redacted]) told me that they work with [redacted](which is my insurance) and that they will bill the insurance for both of the tows and that I didn't have to worry. So I agreed if that was the case. I called their tow company the next morning to try and get my car out of their yard with another tow that way we wouldn't be stuck with a sitting fee and the lady tags picked up said they won't release our car until we pay a fine of $230. I explained to her what the tow guy told me the night before and that if they we're going to charge us then I would of easily gotten my own tow for free. She claimed she couldn't do anything about it and that I would have to handle it with my insurance. I called my insurance after and they told me that they don't cover tow charges if I abandoned the car and the cops had to get a tow for it. They said that if I was present and called a tow myself then they would kindly pay for a tow. I was present before the tow came, told them it's ok I'll get my own tow, and then tow guy lies and tells me my insurance will pay for everything making me really believe that. If I knew I had to pay $230 for that tow I could of just called my own! And now they won't release my car until I pay that fine. This is very wrong and a false advertisement. Even my insurance said that they will never pay for two tow services only one if anything.Desired Settlement: I had to borrow money just to get my car out and I want a refund because the fact that I could of gotten my car towed for free. I pay for tow services every month so I should never have to pay out of pocket a large amount of money for it. He lied to me and was saying anything to make me believe that my insurance will cover just so he could tow my car.
