I paid to have some work done on my house, the job was barely started, but never finished, now I would like some of the money I prepaid back.
I hired FixUp Solutions to install a sliding glass door and replace a wall for me, as well as paint the outside of my Florida Room and fix a roof leak. I have been waiting for over 9 months for this project, it was started 6 months ago, then the owner had some health issues, which I can understand, however since then I have been given every excuse in the book, but more often then not told they would be here in a week to finish, and then a month goes by and I am the one to reach out and try to contact them again. My Florida room was primed, but not finished and the tape is still on it, and I have a sliding glass door but it hasn't been installed, and the roof I paid to have repaired still leaks. To make matters worse I have asked for a refund since I paid half down and I keep getting excuses and have yet to see my money back minus the door and the work they barely did. I try to be extremely fair, but at this point I am looking to have to go to small claims court. I am very disappointed as the one thing I expect is honesty, and communication.

Desired Outcome

I paid half down for this project, and have given the benefit of the doubt and not asked for what I deserve back, and all I have gotten is excuse after excuse, rather than them showing up to finish the job, or refund me something. I expect at minimum $600.00, which is being extremely generous, as I tried to be fair on what they had done at a high hourly wage and for a door that is worth less than I estimated, not even counting I am paying for my roof to be fixed again. At this point I just want some of my money back so I can contact someone who will follow through and communicate.

Problem date: 11/30/2017: Today's date: 1/5/2018; installed new countertops but had issues with quality and no backsplashes installed in kitchen. First, Mitch drove his van and huge trailer through my front yard and was parked ON TOP of my house drain field; lucky he did not fall through! Why do that when there is a perfectly good driveway? Bad practice; he has no idea what is under the ground. I found gaps in both bathrooms between the backsplash and countertop - never had that issue in other houses before - and had to ask him to caulk - with clear because if gaps were still too noticeable I could always later go in with a tiny bead of a darker color to hide it better. He wasn't going to caulk at all - and when he did, he used a dark brown - big 1/4 or more beads - very noticeable and unattractive; will have to dig it all out myself and see if I can salvage it. The biggest issue; no backsplashes at all in kitchen. He said it must be a misunderstanding for he thought my husband said "NO backsplashes" at all in kitchen; not what he said, but ok - misunderstandings do happen. He was saying how bad business was after Hurricane Irma and almost bankrupted him; so , in good faith - with notations signed/initialed by him and me - I paid him the remaining $800 that we owed and he said that he would return with backsplashes at no extra charge that weekend or Monday latest; did not show up. Have tried on numerous occasions, all we get is "I'll try" and "I'll do my best". Nothing. Can't call him, voicemail is full and you wait a day or two for a return text. Horrible customer service. As a last ditch effort, I texted and told him that he was holding up two other contractors and ME as my own painter; still to no avail. Cannot say how disappointed I am with him and his firm. It is now January 5 and I am hiring someone to finish the job so I can keep moving with the other works that needs to be done; Mitch at Fix-Up Solutions cost me six weeks and an unfinished job. Deplorable, so I felt it necessary to lodge this complaint.

Desired Outcome

Absolutely NONE! I just wanted to lodge this complaint so it on their record. I've already paid someone else to finish the job for Fix-Up Solutions simply would not do it by default of just not getting back to it.......six weeks was long enough to wait - hired someone else.

They were happy with the job when we walked it.The unfinished part the customer is refering to was not in the bid. I understood that the kitchen was going to have tile back splash, so didn't make any for the kichen area. I told the customer I would do it for them at no charge. I had them ready to make when they posted this complaint.I wasn't able to get back to install as soon as they wanted. Very nice customer, I understand.Mitchell R
