I am in the middle of my roof replacement due to the storm and am having a wonderful experience with flagstone roofing. Justin has walked me through every step of the process and made it easy for me. He even got the insurance to pay for things I didn’t even know were damaged!

Our experience has been seamless! Justin has handled everything with our insurance and took the worry out of our hands.

Great overall experience!! Met with adjuster to insure total damage was assessed and completed job in record time with complete satisfaction.

I got my roof replaced in March 2017 with this company, I had to follow up multiple phone calls and several text messages for them to come back and complete additional uncompleted or poorly work. The insurance paid this contractor to replace the window weather strips at the same time the roof was replaced, but for 2 months I had to make additional phone calls and text messages that when on answered and unresponded to. When they the company finally sent someone to do the job, they did such poor job that strips all fell off the windows and have been trying to get them to come back and repair them but the owner Anthony is the only contact person, stop answering my phone calls and would answer when I called from a phone number he did not recognize. Then came Harvey and my roof leaked called and texted Anthony to report the leak with photo of the damage. After several phone calls and texts, he finally sent people to do the repair the roof but no status on the ceiling repair and after the roofer came and fixed the leak they created another problem in the attic which Anthony has failed to respond to. I have dealt with a few contractors as a homeowner, I have never had to do so much phone calls and emails just to get them to come and complete or redo poorly completed work. This company quality checks after and follow up is very poor. this is not how you treat your customers especially on such a crucial job that cost a lot of money. The lack of response to phone calls and text messages is irresponsible and poor customer service.

Flagstone Roofing ("Flagstone") replaced and completed our entire roof on 8/3/15 which included a 5 year warranty on workmanship. We are in year 2 of the warranty. The reason we got a new roof was because we originally had a leak around the chimney and Flagstone said that they are a roof expert and will guarantee their workmanship and ensure it doesn't leak anymore.

After all the rain earlier this month, the roof around the chimney started to leak again, causing water to come down our ceiling, walls, insulation, and into our wood floors, damaging parts of our ceiling, walls, the baseboard in the master bedroom and our wood floors in the living room.

Since the roof was still under warranty, I called *** Sr ("*** Sr.") on Wed., 8/30/17 at 5:26pm and told him that our roof is leaking and still has issues around the chimney. He said that his truck got flooded and for me to call him back a few days later, or next week.

I texted him the following message on Sat., 9/2/17 at 10:07am to follow-up but received no response. Not even an acknowledged. "Hi ***, hope you and your family have slowly started the road to recovery. Im sure you have been inundated with calls. We wanted to at least at least see if we can get on your schedule for someone to come out and take a look and fix our roof. Thank."

While we are waiting for their response, we decided to do some research and also seek other roof experts. We found out that Flagstone did not replace our roof correctly around the chimney causing the roof to leak. We also noticed that on the 2 sides of the chimney were slight damages to the stucco which were most likely done by Flagstone when they first replaced the roof which we were not aware of before. We also consulted a few other roofing companies after not hearing back from Flagstone, and they all said that the roof was not done properly in the first place around the chimney and that Flagstone took short cuts instead of truly replacing our roof correctly around the chimney.

Then on Wed., 9/6 2:18pm, my husband called *** Sr. with his phone and he finally picked up. He said that his truck got flooded and will call me in a few days. I texted him again on Mon., 9/11 at 4:54pm to request to get on his schedule. He finally called me back at 4:58pm and said that the warranty is void because of the storm. I mentioned to him that the leak was because they had replaced the flashing and shingles incorrectly around the chimney, resulting in the leak. He said he is very busy but will stop by with ***, his head contractor on Thurs., 9/14/17 around 3pm. I said I will work with his schedule and be home any time as long as he calls before he comes. I texted *** Sr. again on Wed., 9/13 at 3:34pm asking him if he still plans to come on Thurs., 9/14. He called me after and said he will be there. *** and *** Sr. came out at 330pm on Thurs., 9/14. My husband told them that it was done incorrectly and they finally both agreed, and that they will fix it. They told my husband that they will come back on Sat., 9/16 around 10am.

On Sat., 9/16 at 1130am, *** and another worker finally showed up after I text *** Sr. My husband went up to the roof with *** and another worker. As they were nailing the new L-shaped flashing to the chimney, they hammered too hard and this time broke the middle portion of the chimney stucco, putting a large hole in our chimney and broke more Sheetrock, not to mention the original 2 sides of the chimney stucco that were originally damages. Then they tried to use cement caulk to repair the hole but it didn't work. *** said they just can't fix it and don't have the expertise to fix it. *** also agreed and told my husband that the roof will not sustain rain the way it is, but he doesn't know how to fix it. My husband called *** Sr. at 3:15pm while *** was still here but *** Sr. didn't answer. Instead he texted back and said he couldn't talk. My husband then texted him back right away asking him to call him back. My husband said he needed to talk to him about this serious problem, now that his workers have damaged our roof and chimney even more. *** Sr. NEVER responded. Then at 3:26pm, I texted *** Sr. again and stated, "***, not sure if *** gave you an update yet. But they left and said they can't fix it. They broke the stucco of our chimney when trying to nail the flashing so now they can't secure the flashing against the chimney because of the damage in the middle, not to mention the 2 corners are also damaged. This is one picture showing one of the damage. This is not acceptable. Not only do we need to spend money on replacing our wood floors, walls, trim and more caused by the roof leak, now we have more issues because the chimney has been damages. I understand that *** has been working for you for a while but he doesn't seem to know what he is doing. Now it's even worse than before and will not be able to sustain rain all at. I understand you are swamped but please respond and give me call at the end of the day to discuss." In addition send him a picture of the hole inside, he NEVER responded.

Then I texted his son, *** Jr. on Mon. 9/18 at 1:28pm stating "Hi ***, this is ***. I have been talking to your dad and now he hasn't responded after *** came out on Sat. Please give me a call." He NEVER responded.

As of today, we have not received a call or any responses back. As stated by the other roof companies/experts, Flagstone did not initially replace our roof properly around the chimney, not to mention that they damaged our chimney and roof even more this time. Per the other roof experts, when Flagstone replaced our roof initially, they should have replaced the new flashing on the lower side of the chimney before they put on the new shingles but instead they did the reverse. Not only that, they used large quantity of caulk which is what roofers do when they try to save money and cut corners. They did not install the flashing properly against the chimney and the roof and did not use a counter flashing to cover the flashing side against the chimney which will ensure there are no openings and prevent rain from dripping in. If they had not cut corners when they first installed it, then we wouldn't have now mold in our attic, inside the walls, Sheetrock, and insulation. We wouldn't have any damages and need to fix and replace our hardwood floor too. In addition, if they are truly a roof expert, they wouldn't have broke our chimney this time around and still didn't fix our roof leak.

We do not trust their workmanship anymore and don't think they have the expertise to fix our roof and chimney, or anyone else's roof. The head contractor, *** admits that they broke our chimney and don't even know how to fix our roof leak. We don't want them to fix it anymore because we don't believe in their work and is afraid they will damage it even more.

We want to seek a true roof expert and chimney expert. We are requesting that Flagstone pay for the cost to fix our roof and chimney. We will provide the invoice directly from both the roofer and chimney contractors. We want to hire a true reputable roofer and chimney contractor, who know what they are doing, truly fix the issue for good, and stand by their workmanship. I believe the requested resolution is reasonable because our roof is still under warranty which means they should have been responsible for fixing the issue. Instead, we want and need true experts, not someone like Flagstone who just sells their business but don't stand by it. Not only that, because of their bad workmanship we are going to incur more expenses to fix our wood floors, ceiling, replacing our walls, Sheetrock, baseboard, and more which we will need to pay out of pocket as a result of their bad work. If it wasn't for their bad job and not knowing what they are doing, we wouldn't have to incur all these additional costs.

Flagstone Roofing & Exteriors Response

This is the first we hear about this complaint. When a homeowner calls about a labor issue we get on ti if we find out that it was our problem we resolve it. We did speak to *** Sr and he gave us an update on this matter. According to their findings, this property like thousands was damaged from Hurricane Harvey. As per our contract the warranty does not cover damage after hurricane damage including hurricane rain, winds or hail. We gave the homeowner the option of fixing the hurricane damage at a very reasonable rate, the homeowner got angry and cursed at *** Sr about this option. Many homes were damaged after the storm, if there would have been a labor issue this would have shown right after the completion of the roof not years later. After our inspection and the timing of Hurricane Harvey we concluded that this was due to the storm. We had several past clients in the same neighborhood who had a leak and happily paid to get their home repaired after we explained the warranty does not cover hurricanes. We are sorry this has occurred to the homeowner we ask them to contact their insurance provider and not other roofers as this is a result of inclement weather.

The conversation was via phone with *** Sr in regards to admitting to bad workmanship and verbal with ***, his head contractor when he came out on 9/12/17. I have attached the text that shows that he had arranged for *** to come out and fix the issue which *** did come out but just didn't fix the issue.
