Flamingo Motel & Suites Reviews (3)

I got my room at the flamingo thru a radio station in aurora, I should had known then that this was going to be a different type of experience. We arrived at 2:40pm Sunday afternoon. Our rooms where not ready ( no biggie) we went eat and I had already saw the sign that stated that fact. Once we returned we got put in a room that was still dirty they switched our room again at maybe 5:30 we get into another room and there are bed bugs on the pillow on the bed on the floor in just grossed out. We talked to Debb who was the worst management in the Midwest she explained to me that I just wanted free Noah ark tickets and said they don't have bed bugs. Today I called the health depArtment and I called the news station out that there. That place was busted and I am disgusted ????. I would not advise anyone to stay here. This weekend was a waste, oh did I mention it was my sons 14th birthday !

Review: The Flamingo Motel was advertising a deal for free Noah's Ark passes for each night stay at the motel. I thought it was a good idea to vacation with family and save a little money. I booked the room and pit half of the payment down on my credit card. My sister also booked her room for her family. When we arrived on August 1, 2014 we checked in payed for the rest of the room in cash. We drove around to the room. As we first entered the room it smelled. We put away our bags and luggage on high shelving because the room looked to have bed bug potential. We changed into our swimming gear and left for Noah's Ark. We made it to the dells around three O'clock and Noah's Ark closed at seven O'clock so, we were rushing to get there to have some time to enjoy. We were able to enjoy two hours of fun before it began to rain then; the park suspended all rides to due to the storm. We left the park and on our way to our room my husband and I stopped at the front desk to ask if we could change rooms due to the smell. We were told that they were booked for the weekend. We went to the room showered, changed and went out to eat. After our meal we took the kids back to the room, they went swimming in the indoor pool and we left to go to Wal-Mart for snacks. After returning to the room to get ready for bed we discovered both beds had hair in them. The box spring on bed # 1 had a hole in it. Bed # 2 bedspring had died up blood on it. I told the kids to pull out the sleeper sofa and discovered it was soiled and the springs were exposed. The kids, my husband and I became very uncomfortable.

At that point we tried calling the front desk and discovered the phone did not work, there was complete silence on the other end. That is when I started to notice everything else. There were crumbs around the table on the floor, trash under the sofa and on both sides of the night stand. There were no pictures on the walls. The drapes were not hung up right, which I had to fix or you could see right in the room. The chairs to the table did not match, which was not a big deal but, after seeing my sister's room it did began to matter. That night the children slept in my sister’s room because her room looked a little more updated and nice. My husband and I slept outside in our truck. The next morning we ate cereal, showered, and dressed for day 2 of the park. After the park and before returning to the room we stopped at the front desk. My husband was telling them about our first night there and it appeared our complaints were not an issue to them. They said they would send maintenance to change the box spring, linen, and the mattress on the sofa sleeper. We asked about the phone and were told that they do not have to disclose that information at time of booking, I said at the time of check in and really didn't get an answer. They told us that the phone was down for some time. My husband said what if we did not have cell phones and there was an emergency? They replied there is a phone right outside front desk, I replied we was not aware of that either. Maintenance arrived to say there was neither an extra sofa mattress nor box spring. So, he changed the linens on the bed, but as we watched him he changed the first beds but, put the pillows with the clean pillow cases on the dirty bed. However, that night we packed up all our things and slept at my parent’s hotel and the children at my sister's room again. On Sunday August 3, check out day. We brushed out teeth didn't shower, turned in the keys, and left for home. I would like to have my money back because I feel we did not utilize the room like we should have. I also have picures that I took of the room. Thanks for your time and understanding.Desired Settlement: To have my money refunded to me.

Review: On June 28, 2013, my mother paid cash for our room. The front desk clerk (Asian girl), notified her that we could get in our room the next day (june 29) as soon as we arrived (because the room was fully paid for).

On June 29, 2013, we left hour home in Oneida, WI at 7:30 a.m. (around 3 hours away from WI Dells), we arrived at Flamingo Motel 1220 Wisconsin Dells Parkway, Wisconsin Dells, WI at approximately 10:/10:30 a.m. (Left on a 3 hour ride thinking we could get checked in immediately). My mother came to the front desk with me to check in. [redacted] (name tag said Brookfield WI). [redacted] Notified me that we needed to come back at 1:30 p.m. to check in as the Manager had to check all the rooms on the property before anyone could check in (NOTE: 1 person to check 3 properties in few hours time?).

On June 29, 2013 we came back to the Flamingo at 1:30 p.m/2p.m. to check in. New clerk (pony tail, long blonde hair, I didn’t get her name), she informed us that we could not check in until 3:30 p.m. She notified us that the Manager needed to check all rooms on the property and they were short staffed. I left frustrated and un-happy. Got back in our truck and told my husband we had to wait again until 3:30 pm. He was upset.

At around 2:30 p.m. my husband went in to see what all the problems were and why we could not check in. She told him to return in a few minutes while she phoned the Manager. We then left for a few minutes to see exactly where our room was located (Room #56). I had to use the restroom. I went inside where the swimming area was to use the restroom area. The toilet seat in the restroom was covered in feces. I had to get a wet toweling and clean it off. Very poor conditions in the restroom.

My husband went back to the Front Desk around 2:40 p.m. The female clerk informed him that the Manager was allowing us to check in. I had to go inside because my name on the paperwork. So I did. We finally got our key. I informed her of the feces in the swimming area restroom. She was going to notify someone. I told her I already cleaned most of it.

We went to our room, located 3 sets of buildings over and across the street (East Lake Avenue). I needed a drink so I went to get ice in the ice bucket. There was a bug inside the bucked which was deceased and a dried up carcass (See photo). I did not use the bucket. I used our cups we brought to go retrieve ice from the machine located in our hallway of the motel. As I approached the machine a young girl in a pink t-shirt (Staff?) informed me the ice machine did not work. The ice machine had a coin op, that I had to put in money to get ice, but the machine did not work. The girl informed me to go across to the other building to get ice. I informed her that after all we paid over $100 for a very small one double size bed room and now the ice machine needs money and it don’t even work? She said “Sorry”. I went to my room very disappointed with the days services.

I looked under the top cover of the bedding and the sheets were very wrinkled and looked to be used and not replaced. I asked the girl in the pink shirt to get someone to replace the sheets, nobody ever came. We choose not to sleep on the sheets, too scared of germs, so we slept on top of the velvet blanket.

Approximately between 2:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m. I heard someone banging on a motel door down the hallway, stating they were the Police. There were a few individuals in the hallway talking loud. I could not sleep. I could hear someone say “I am her Supervisor”. And the Police pounding on the door. After they left, I still could not sleep, due to the fact they have arcade games in the hallway that made noises and music. Very distracting.

On June 30, we were up at 9, left by 10 and notified the housekeepers (2 girls) that we left the key on the table. They did not understand us as they did not speak English. So we left, to come home after a very un-enjoyable stay at Flamingo Motel.

I personally would like to be re-imbursed for the one night stay Saturday ($95) and for the Friday deposit ($105) that was made for following reasons:

1) I was given multiple times to check in and none consistent, and the room was paid in full.

a. First, I notified her that my mother was told on June 28th, that we could check in any time seeing the room was fully paid for (Asian front desk clerk).

b. Second, we were told come back (By [redacted]) at 1:30 p.m.

c. Third, (new clerk-female Caucasian) she told us 3:30 p.m. as that is their check in time. I have a paper (attached) saying their check-in is at 3:00 p.m. and another paper saying 3:30 p.m., they have inconsistent information and advertising as well as employees who are inconsistent in giving proper procedures.

2) Poor facility cleanliness.

a. Feces on the toilet seat in the swimming area (notified front desk clerk)

b. Bug in our ice bucket (See photo)

c. Sheets wrinkled and used looking. (didn’t sleep on them)

3) The NO Noise after 10 pm rule were not followed, even by staff who lived outside our room.

a. The between 2am-3am police and staff loud in the hallway.

b. The arcade game noise all night.

c. Kids throughout the night were noisy.

I told the front desk I wanted to speak to the Manager, I was told the Manager would call me back, and [redacted] never called me back.

I’d like to also mention, the Housekeeper woke us up at 8:00 a.m. she was putting her key in the door and I woke up, she opened the door and I said loud “Excuse me!” she shut the door. Not once did she knock or even identify herself as “Housekeeping” or ask “Do you need your room cleaned?” and did not even say “Sorry”. Very rude.

Not to mention there were no convenience chairs for us to sit outside in to enjoy the view of the dirty fountain that was not working.

With a motel having 3 properties, Flamingo Motel bought Mayflower Motel next door and we stayed at the facilities across the street, where it looked like the staff living quarters. I looked up their Job Opportunities (attached), they need many employees and if they cannot operate with the short staff they have, they need to shut down one of the properties. What I wonder is if the State of Wisconsin Health Commission or State of Wisconsin Immigration has had any issues with such a large facility and un-kept property, along with employees who do not speak English and are to communicate with customers on a daily basis. Are these non-speaking English employees here illegally?

NOTE: on our initial check in, June 29, The customer in front of me had notified [redacted] (Front Desk clerk) that all her sheets in the room needed to be change and she wanted the manager. [redacted] called for Manager, Manager could not arrive until later that morning. Customer left her cell phone number with [redacted] for the manager to call her. (Shows uncleanliness for another customer).

And my nephew (3years old) cut his feet in the kids pool coming out of the frog slide, the flooring of the pool was so poor, needs repairing, it was like the bottom was stones and rugged. (Poor conditions).

Please send reimbursement to [redacted], [redacted].

Thank you for your attention to the matters.

Sincerely, [redacted]0 (lori).

NOTE: called Kiara, Keana? Front Desk on 7/2/2013 at 9:23 am, she is mailing my receipt. And I’ve emailed them twice. (See attachments). To date: 7/17/2013, I have not received my receipt. I paid cash.Desired Settlement: Would like our deposit money and our room stay money back.
