Went to Flash Factory NY for Black Coffee | Hex H*** (4:23:16) Flash Factory on last Sat night
Honestly, wasn't going to say anything publicly - even left a review privately, but perhaps it's timeStshow would be an overstatement for how this party was managed
- No separate line for ticket holders, ticket buyers, VIP, etc causing confusion
- Over an hour wait to get in with advance tickets
- One male/female security checking people in which slowed everything down
- Overpriced drinks
- Sound system on dance floor too loud to enjoy dancing (which is oddly what you're meant to do at a dance club), everyone upfront was wearing earplugs
So, they announce a refund that I receive stating "We would like to offer you a full complimentary admission ticket, complimentary drink and expedited entry to the next Flash Factory event of your choiceWe will be announcing our next date with BLACK COFFEE shortlyAlternatively, we can issue a refund for this past weekend."
I ask for a refund thinking, I don't want to go through this experience again...only to be informed "Unfortunately the refund offer only applies to ticket holders who were denied entry into the eventIf you would like reduced admission to a future event, please respond with your full name and the date of interest." Meanwhile, half the people I waited on line with for 1+ hour were refunded! So, discriminatory in their refund policy that didn't specify that you had to not get in
Seriously, what a Stshow it all isIt's no wonder all the reviews on *** and elsewhere are terrible, and even the best liin the world won't make you a class act!

Unprofessional, chaotic, overpriced, and unimpressive are words that come to mind when I first walked into Flash FactoryAs a NYC club veteran who's been going out to clubs for years, I somehow bought into the PR machine that Flash Factory pays forFlash Factory has to pay for good PR, because the club itself uses the same old tired equation of; Bad Sound + Bad Crowd + Overpriced Drinks & Bottle Service
They speakers in front of the DJ booth and on the dance floor are so (admittedly by sound professionals who work for the nightclub) that you cannot possibly enjoy dancing, yet they claim it's about the musicThey claim that " V.I.Ptables and bottle service will not be a focus," yet already the music lovers with advance tickets are not gaining access to the club and being told to buy tables to get inThey say they want the music heads who're only going out to Brooklyn to come party in the city again, but when you spend over $7M on decor - your priority is making back your investment, not the music lovers who will travel to a warehouse with decorations just to see their favorite DJs spin
Many club veterans claim that the dance music scene in NYC is dead, which I don't believeWhat is dead though, is this sceneIncredible DJ, amazing sound systems, and lighting can be found - just not at Flash Factory
Just some suggestions for improvement;
- Clearly identify lines for ticket holders, ticket purchasers, guest list, and VIP
- Open a roped off area for smokers (with its own entrance) to get in and out of your nightclub without getting locked out (and perhaps people will stop smoking inside)
- Hire more security at the door to check people and move the line faster
- Move coat check away from the front door so that people can access the bar and bathroom without blocking the flow of people entering the club
- Improve your sound system so that people don't need to wear earplugs while dancing in front of the DJ
- Consider lowering your drink prices, a watered down G&T should not cost $
- Pay some respect to the music lovers who paid for tickets during the first release because they were so excited to see the DJ perform
