I took a [redacted] lawn mower in to be repaired, waited 6 weeks to get it back. But what I got was not what I took in.On 05/23/2015 I took my Green [redacted] lawn mower to Flash Pawn on [redacted] to be repaired. The Owner took my [redacted] (or)[redacted] off the side of my lawn mower, receipt [redacted] and said that the repair guy was not working today but he would get on it Monday morning. I went into the store the following Tuesday to see if the repairs had been made and they hadn't so I told the owner that I would be back that Friday 05/29/2015. I went that Friday nothing, So I told him I would come back the next week, I did and still no repairs. This went on until 07/01/2015 when I received a call saying that the mower was running and working. I told them I would come by after I got off work. When I went into the store . The owner was finishing with a customer and the repair guy came out. He said that I could pay for the mower and he would meet me out front with it. I paid the worker with my debit card($45) and waited another 10 minutes before the repair guy came outside with the mower. When I looked at the mower I told him Flat out that is not mine. He said it was and I said no I brought you in a newer model [redacted] mower with Big Bold letters on the front of it. This one has paint and rust on it, the handle is yellow and mine was black. He said that that the only thing different was the top that he put on it. I told him no the one I bought in had big wheels with a 3 part spoke in the center, it didn't have all that other writing on it and that the pull sting attachment was not even the same. I told him I bought the mower, paid $269 plus tax for my husband as a Father's day gift and that I knew what I was talking about. My husband also had a [redacted] blower and Chain saw that I purchased at [redacted] that I knew that was not the one I bought in. The owner said that he wrote the Serial number down off the mower and tried to show me the white copy but the hand writing was totally different. His slip showed the information was on the first line but the information on my ticket was written on the second line. My last name was spelled wrong on the handwritten tag that the put on the mower . The owner said that if I could go home and find my receipt of purchase that he could compare it . So I left the old mower that they tried to give me in store and went home and search my house for the owners manual, receipt or anything that could prove what type of mower I purchased in 2010. The [redacted] store that I bought it from has closed down and I no longer have an account with them or [redacted] so there is no way for me to get evidence. The owner said my husband could come back and look at it and I told him my husband was incarcerated, but I know my stuff because that mower they are trying to give me was light weight and I could lift it by myself. The one I brought it took me and another employee to get it out of my truck. I told him my husband's equipment was locked in a storage shed so there is no way for it to be rusted, and that one has big rust spots all around it. When I took my mower into the store I had already taken the top cover off of it, I took all the screws out the top to remove the Spark plug harness. They took part of different mower and made a mower to give me. My oil and gas cap were both black, the one the put together has a redcap and a yellow one. The owner wrote the Serial number down, which I now know is the Number off the motor, "easily removable" according to the internet. When he should have been writing the Model # down. I goggled the Serial number that he wrote down and it is for the motor, engine... and most [redacted] mowers have that same number. But I know my mower and that cheap thing that they are trying to give me is not it.Desired SettlementI want them to give me the [redacted] mower I gave them. They think because I am a woman that I am dumb and cant recognize the fact that they are trying to get over on me. I did not take a cheap $100 mower looking like it was made in the 90's in the store I gave them a $269 plus tax mower that that was in good condition with Black tire was 3 spokes. I want my mower not some knock off.Business Response This [redacted] Mower did come into our shop 5-23-15 in pieces. The top cover had been removed, spark plug and plug wire harness had been disconnected. It came in at closing and our repair man was not on duty. It was written up on a carbon copy ticket # [redacted] and the equipment was tagged with the # [redacted]. The mechanic wasn't able to look at it until the following Tues. We were told the spark plug harness was inoperative and the customer had removed it in an attempt to self repair. We ordered a new harness and discovered it was not causing the problem, but that it was the fly-wheel causing the issue. Once we isolated the problem, we determined by the number on the engine, the lawn mower was over eight years old. We replaced the fly-wheel and resolved the problem. When the customer came in to pick up the mower, she initially refused the mower stating she bought the mower last year and this one was not hers. We already knew it was eight years old, but we explained it was the mower we took in and asked her to bring in those receipts w/engine #/Serial # and we would investigate. The customer returned without receipts a few days later to pick up the mower still proclaiming we were giving her the wrong mower. Since she could not provide proof of purchase or Engine/Serial #'s, we could not do anything further. We asked that when her husband was released from jail and could confirm it was or was not his mower, we would be happy to discuss with him and try to resolve. We have tried to resolve her complaint, but without her proof of purchase with Engine/Serial # or until her husband is able to see the mower and visit us, we have done what was requested, repaired the mower.
