Flat Rate Locksmith

Review: I call these people off of craigslist. I told him I wanted to install a pad lock to my door at my business. He ask me what kind of door is it? Wood or metal. I told him is a metal door and it a new installation which he need to cut a hole to put it in. He told me it $49.99 a lock and didin't tell me anything else like a service charge if I don't agree or anything like that. I told him ok. He said he will send someone by. The guy came out look at it and told me $125 per lock way more then the 49.99 the guy told me over the phone. I told him no at that price. The guy wanted to charge me $20.00 for the service charge after they told me more then double what they are going to charge me and didn't tell me there was a service charge for coming. I would of pay if it was $49.99 per lock installation like he told me over the phone and I decided not to do it because I told him ok at that price over the phone. He left me a bill and told me he going to send me to collection and put me on a blacklist for all the locksmith to see. This guy lied to me over the phone and try to push a service fee down my throat. If he just lied to everybody over the phone just to come out and charge a service fee, he wouldn't have to work for a living! What a crook!

When we inbound these calls we're essentially wearing a blindfold because there are really no shelf-ready set prices besides your average emergency lock out or key make. Each price is made clear that they are ONLY starting rates and the technician will deteremine the REAL rate once he sees it with his own eyes, BEFORE the work is done. In this customers case he not only needed new locks but he needed to have holes drilled in a commercial fire rated metal door as well as new locks installed and key'd the same with is a 2-hour minimum job and costs around 250-300 dependeing on the hardware. Now had he given us better information in the begining this confusion wouldn't have occured maybe next time well will suggest the customer sends photos. Furthermore he was aware the travel fees of 29 which is the the standard rate for the mobile services trade. We asked for 20 gave him a discount for the inconvenience.

When I call the guy ask me exactly what I needed. I told him I needed 2 locks installed which I already bought. He ask me what kind of door and I told him it was a metal door and he need to drill a hole then he quote me a price of 49 for each. I told him exactly what I needed. After those guys left I call the customer service number again trying to get a hold of the guy I talk to on the phone. The guy hang up on me.
