Flint River Hospital recently received a letter from your organization reporting a complaint from a consumer of our hospitalI am writing this email to give your organization information regarding the complaint
Mr*** arrived at our facility on August 26, at approximately Upon his arrival, his personal belongings were inventoried and documented by our staffMr*** refused to sign the inventory sheet because his wallet and keys were not written on the sheetThese were initially the only items he stated that were missing. His personal belongings were searched again and the items were not found. At that time, our staff contacted Columbus Medical Center where Mr*** was located prior to being transported hereThe staff there advised that the items were not at their facilityMr*** was notified of the information
The next morning, Mr*** voiced his concern of the missing items directly to me. He also added to the initial list of missing items now stating that in addition to the wallet and keys, he was also missing a cell phone, reading glasses, water bottle, and bag of medications. I obtained the inventory sheet from his chart, as well as his belongings from locked storageMr*** himself searched his belongings only to be unsuccessful at locating the missing items. At that time, I advised Mr*** that I would contact Columbus Medical Center again in an attempt to locate his belongingsI contacted the facility as promisedI was told that the items Mr*** was asking for were not at their facility nor did they have record of him having said items upon admission to their facilityI advised Mr*** of the information obtainedHe did not agree with the facility's statement and stated he was going to file a complaint against them. This was the last time Mr*** had anything to say about the missing belongings to my knowledge
Although I am very sorry that MrThomas has lost/misplaced some of his belongings, the claimed missing items were never at our facility, therefore we will not be responsible for replacing the items
