We contracted for and paid cash for carpeting for 6 rooms and a hallway for our home from Flooring America in Sept 2014. We had to change to a different, less expensive carpet, for one of the rooms. We were promised a refund the difference of approximately $1200.00 by Mr. [redacted] on 4 Dec 2014. Mr.[redacted] stated that checks are cut on Wednesday and this was Thursday and we would have to wait a week before checks were cut and then it would be mailed out.The check hadn't been received in over 2 weeks, so I called and was told by the book keeper [redacted] that "it was her policy" that refunds are not issued until all work was completed. I was not told of this "policy" and I had told them the last room of carpeting did not need to go in until after the holidays. When informed of the "policy" and that we wouldn't get our money back until after the job was completed we scheduled the carpet installation for 20 Dec, so we would have the money back for Christmas. We were told the installers would have a check with them. They did not. No one was available at the store to address "why no check and why the runaround?"Product_Or_Service: carpetDesired SettlementWe would like the money owed us paid immediately. They have had the use of our cash for over three months.They've given us the runaround and false hope of returning the funds for 3 weeks at a time we can least afford it.Business Response Customer custom ordered product which was back ordered to end of Dec. She was told this at time of order. Beginning of Dec customer decided to cancel the back order and use material we had in stock. In interest of customer service, we did not charge the usual 30% restocking fee and advised customer a refund would be due when job was completed. Customer postponed final installation until Jan or Feb. When she called asking about refund due, indicating she needed Christmas money, she was told when job was complete it would be settled. She then scheduled job for a Saturday (not usual, but again trying to accommodate customer). Refund was issued first thing Monday morning. We do not feel we should be held accountable for her lack of planning or over spending for Christmas. Do the customer a favor and it always comes back to bite you. All monies owed have been paid in full as of 10:00 a.m. Dec 22, 2014. Had we known the customer was impugning our reputation, we would have charged the 30% restocking fee on the cancellation, and deducted it from the refund.Consumer Response Their version of the situation are manipulated, distorted and did not take into consideration mitigating factors. They gave us the runaround for three weeks, but we were issues a refund this morning, so we would like the complaint dropped.
