Flooring Expert

Review: The Flooring Expert through our interior decorator to do the flooring for our new home construction in Wintersville,OH. We have a written quote. He started the job. He made some installation errors in the master bathroom where he did not follow the design plans. He did not correct these. He also laid vinyl flooring in several rooms where carpet was supposed to be laid, once again not referring to the building plans. He started to not show up to complete the job. He did not respond to multiple phone calls and emails by us or by attempts to reach him made by our designer who had referred him to us originally. We indicated we did not want to get an attorney involved in order for him to complete the job. He then responded by email that we should find someone else. We had paid him approximately $21,000 dollar by this point in the job. He has never responded either to our requests for a refund of money on the incompleted job or to come and complete the job. We have since hired another flooring contractor to complete the job. This new contractor found that a significant portion of the tile needed to be pulled up because it was not laid/glued properly and grouted properly. This additional work has cost us more as well as getting the original unfinished job completed.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund of the money paid to [redacted] minus the cost of the supplies for the flooring materials. We also think he should pay for the extra work needed to pull up and redo the incorrectly laid tile and flooring. Our current contractor has kept track of these hours.
