Flores Air Reviews (1)

Review: The initial AC install was performed by [redacted] Heating and Air on Feb. 25th, 2014. At that time [redacted] told us that once we began using it when the weather got hot, he would come out and check it to be sure everything was working properly. On Friday, May 16th, 2014, [redacted] came out to evaluate the system after a week of very hot weather and the A/C not performing. When [redacted] arrived the A/C unit was off, upon start-up it was blowing cold air and seemed to be working. [redacted] checked the attic as we had concerns that the condensation was not draining into the deep sink where he had run the line, and we had concerns it may be draining into the attic. After going into the attic and checking the main unit outside [redacted] told me everything was working properly - but it did not. We were quite disappointed that nothing had been done to rectify the situation, and so my husband went into the attic and began trying to locate the problem himself. The A/C unit is not functioning properly because it was not installed properly. When he opened the attic access, he was met with a blast of air from the exchanger, the ½ inch gap approximately 24 inches in length at the bottom of the heat exchanger. He also observed un-insulated refrigerant lines were frozen. Upon further inspection, found insulation in the ducting - as a result of the initial install. There was no drain pan under the coil in the attic, there was a hole in the exterior that was not sealed, and [redacted] left the garbage up in our attic! After we sent a Power Point display with all of the discrepancies to [redacted] it took weeks to get him to return our call and finally I threatened to hire someone else and send them the bill, they finally scheduled - at their convenience, so that my husband had to take time off work to be here. He came out on June 30th (arriving over an hour later than the scheduled time) put a piece of tape on the coil vent that was improperly installed and adding some quick sealant to the hole. He also statedDesired Settlement: Full refund and remove the botched job!

On 7/14/14 we hired a REPUTABLE A/C company to come out and fix it. They told us they would not touch it. The job was so poorly done that the entire thing needs to be removed and start over. He also advised us that we should not use the heater - not part of the install, but the A/C is hooked up to the heater for the exchanger. So now we are going to have to pay someone to remove the entire botched job (and the trash he left all over in the attic!) before we can use the heater, which is only a couple of years old and did not need replacing or repairs before this!

Response:

Good morning,

After having some time to review this complaint we have decided to offer a fair resolution. Since the initial installation, we have made two visits to check the system. Each time the A/C was found to be cooling and working, the air coming out of the vents was measuring in the low 60 degrees and high 50 degrees. However the owners were not satisfied and also had other concerns regarding the installation. During the second visit we wanted to make sure Mr. [redacted] was present as he wasn't during our first visit, and he had a list of issues he wanted us to address. We addressed and made the adjustments asked by Mr. [redacted] during that last visit. Since it's clear there is no other work we can offer that will satisfy the owners, we are willing to refund the cost of our labor. We can email the owners an itemized invoice and refund the cost of labor within 30 days.

Thank you,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[redacted] states the A/C is cooling. That is correct, it blows cool air for approximately 45 minutes before the line freezes up. The reputable A/C company we had out to make repairs that [redacted] refused to make state the entire job needs to be redone and that we are not to use the heater (which was working fine prior to this install) until it has been restored to the original condition.

We have prepared a case for small claims as follows:

•$1500 for materials and improper

installation (There is no drain pan under the unit, the water run off was run

on an uphill angle which does not allow drainage and if the line gets clogged

the runoff goes directly into the attic.

The coil does not match the condensing unit. The condenser is a 3 ton

and the coil is for a 2.5 ton unit. There was an additional capacitor added to

the A/C unit to beef up the starting current, which is non-standard and raises

concerns about the electrical safety.

The front ducting from the coil is not installed correctly, the

insulation on the piping has still not been corrected, and the A/C system cannot be operated.
