We booked an Airbnb and the toilet wasn't working, the place was dirty, and my family experienced bed bugs. We were refused full reimbursement.
My family took our first vacation together to Clearwater Florida this November. We booked an Airbnb through Florida Beach Rentals. When we got to the room, it was disgusting. There were dirty dishes in the cabinets, the toilet was broken; which I began to fix, and after one night there, my family woke up with bites that looked like bed bugs. The next day my fiancé and I went to the office to get our refund and move into a hotel, as I assume no parent of a 6 month old child would ever allow them to stay in such conditions. We were refunded all but the first nights fee. After what we went through, I don't believe it's too much to ask for a full refund. We would like our $250 dollars back, considering the conditions. Also being forced to pay more last minute at a hotel because of this disgusting conditions.
Very disappointed in what we were forced to go through because of this false advertisement and horrible customer service. This place should be shutdown.

I'm very sorry you had an unpleasant visit to Clearwater Beach. We take great pride in how our properties are maintained and presented. If ever there is a problem with one of our properties, we do everything possible to make things right.
After you checked in, did you report the broken toilet seat and dirty dishes? If so, who did you talk to? Did our one staff come to the property and fix the problems?
Bedbug is a very big accusation and we take the threat very seriously. Whenever bites reported to our office the property is thoroughly check out for any evidence of bedbug. Since bites can come from a multitude of other sources, such and no-see-ums, beach flees and misquotes, we cannot unilaterally refund rent an bites alone (bugs must be found).
I have searched our entire database for your name (***), your email (***@yahoo.com) and our call logs for XXX-XXX-XXXX and cannot find your reservation anywhere. Can you please tell me what property you stayed in, so I can further investigate this incident?

We didn't realize the dishes or toilet until late at night the night we checked in. We went into Florida Beach Rentals the next morning and requested to receive our money back. At that point no cleaner or staff member could have done enough to make us want to continue our stay. We were forced to go and rent out a hotel room LAST MINUTE, costing us $1500. That is ironic that you cannot find our reservation. We stayed in a property on Poinsettia Ave apartment ***
Put yourself in our shoes. New parents with a brand new 6 month old daughter. Would you be satisfied staying in a place you rented that was dirty? Would you be okay with having your family stay there? NO. Would you be okay with paying for one night considering what we went through? I have photos of all the notes that look IDENTICAL to bed bugs. It would be a shame if I had to call the health department over $200. The least you can do is return our $200. I've had bed bugs before. I know what they look like. The fact that my 6 MONTH YEAR OLD DAUGHTER had bed bug bites on her body is absolutely DISGUSTING and UNACCEPTABLE. Return our money and make this easy for both of us.
We were able to find the reservation and found that the case was already satisfied and closed out by Airbnb. The guest received a refund from Airbnb. We are not allowed per our contract with Airbnb to exchange money with Airbnb customers. The guest will need to call Airbnb to reopen the case in order to receive any other compensation. Numerous inspections have proved no signs of the claimed bedbugs. As stated before, Florida as in the rest of the world, outdoor biting insects exist that can cause bite marks. Also on inspection the only dirty dishes that were found were dishes left in the sink by this guest. The toilet did not show any signs of disrepair by our operations department. In addition, the claimed dirty dishes and toilet was not reported to Airbnb at the time of the claim.
