They didn't have the product that I purchased available and they give me a cheaper one and didn't refund any money for the difference
I went to purchase T&G wood planks. They (Juan and Alejandro) that 1x8 planks were substantially more expensive than the 1x6. Despite that, I decided to purchased 600 sqft (plus 10%additional for cuts) of the expensive one. After weeks of the product being placed and just a few days of the initial committed delivery date, Alejandro called me and told me that they didn't have the product that I purchase and didn't know when it was going to be available. They offered me going back to the cheaper product (1x6). They told me that it was going to be money back that they were going to refund to me. However, they told me after the product was delivered that there was only going to be 7 cents difference. Furthermore, they also told me that the plank were going to be selected and about 20% of the product was damaged.

Desired Outcome

I want the difference that they talked to me about refunded by buying the cheaper product

The customer *** came to our store looking for 1"x8"x16' product to cover a certain amount of square feet. We sold the product but the customer later changed his mind because he did not want to wait for the product any more. So we issued a credit for the 1"x8"x16' product and sold him a 1"x6"x16' product that we had in stock. yes the 1x6x16 product cost less but it is also a smaller product by width which means that you would need more product to cover the same amount of square feet that he needed to cover with the 1x8. the material was delivered and over a month ago and we have had no attempts by the customer to return any 1x6 material that were in excess. if he had pieces in excess that means we would have sold him too much material to cover his square footage needed. If there was material that was left over in the same size and conditions that we sold it to him, he could have returned it for credit. I will be adding the copies of the invoices that were involved in this transaction. The original invoice with amount of items purchased and cost. The credit from the original invoice and then the invoice with the 1x6 showing that more pieces were ordered and the price charged. We are open to explain this to the customer again as my sales manager did a few weeks ago. Thank You

The door delivered to my home was from a different vendor (Thematru ) and not the JeldWen door I ordered from, and for which Florida Lumber provided the NOA documents, which was approved and permitted by the City of Margate and I received the permit for that door at a cost. I immediately wrote, spoke with, and texted the Florida Lumber agent that the City of Margate Building inspector noticed the discrepancy and we had to remove that door which is a custom-made door, re-order the door from Jeld Wen, and install that door at a cost of over $5,000. I also, initially opted to permit the door that was delivered but it was delivered in pieces and was missing a support insert that would make its NOA qualification true, as delivered, the NOA information was inaccurate per the inspector. Florida Lumber did not respond, so I had to order the Jeld-Wen door, which is custom and wait about 8 weeks for delivery. As the door delivered was not the one ordered, it did not fit, and had to remain in place unsecured to simulate a fixed door in place because I am a deputy sheriff and my work equipment is required to be secured at all times. Still Florida Lumber did not respond to date. I paid for a Jeld Wen door and received a lower quality Thermatru brand name, initial removal, installment up to the first inspection, removal of the wrong door, and installment of the new door $3800. + $1900. + over $200 for permits. The mistake in delivering the wrong door, which cost me money and timeis clearly documented with emails, contracts, and emailed NOA documents from and responses from Florida Lumber.
Additional permit fees were paid.

Not the product I ordered.

Desired Outcome

Refund Refund door ordered. Pick up door delivered by mistake Refund all expenses incurred due to this error. $6000. I am willing to hear counter offer but not willing to linger and argue because I was clearly wronged and I have the documents with which any reasonable (and unreasonable) person can clearly and easily see the wrong done by Florida Lumber's mistake and refusal to respond. I have several emails to Rey Avila, their buyer, verified contract, NOA documents Florida Lumber sent, door label.

The customer has complained that we shipped a thermatru door instead of a jeldwen door that was quoted. The contractor originally came to the store a few months before she purchased the door and at the time we did have Jeldwen door. But when she purchase the door we were carrying Thermatru doors. The difference is only in the name of the manufacture, the actual quote did not change in price, size, type or quality of the door. The complain that we received from the customer is that the door did not fit in her opening and it was because the door was not jeldwen. We ask the customer to give us her opening to see what should be the correct size and help her out that way, but we never got that information back from her. She also mentions in her complain that she had to remove the door that she had purchased from us but in an email that we have from her it did not fit, so I'm not sure why she paid for it to be removed. The manufacture does not have to do anything with the size of door that was ordered. For each manufacture we have product approvals so all the customer had to do is show the Thermatru product approval and an admendment would have been done so that the door could pass inspection. Rey has been communication with the customer and explaining everything that I have just explained. If this door was order correctly then it would have fit in the opening that they had even if the door was a jeldwen door or a thermatru door and would have pass inspection also by just going to the city and amending the open permit. In conclusion, We understand that the original product approval the customer had was for a jeldwen door and the door was sent as a thermatru door and we were willing to work with the customer to fix the situation of the approval, but it looks like the door that was order by the customer did not fit the opening they had so they had to order another door from another location.

Thank You

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The business admitted the door they delivered was not the door I ordered. They must pick up the door they delivered and refund me for the costs their failure to provide me with what I paid for incurred.

It is reasonable to expect the product I ordered. Because it was a front door, because I am a Deputy Sheriff and mandated by law to secure all the Law enforcement equipment and weapons the County issued to me to perform my duties, I needed to have the door in place. The inspector said the new door was missing a structural support metal or wood that had to be permitted by the City of Margate. The business did not provide that item which was not needed with the Jeld Wen door I ordered, but needed in order to for the Thermatru door they delivered to fit. The business is expecting me to suffer through, pay for, and resolve their issue of not having the product I ordered. They should have contacted me prior to delivery of the door and supplied all materials required for the door to fit and pass inspection. Additionally, with the product they delivered, a new permitting was required, which I could have ordered if the business had consulted me about changing the product and if I had agreed to replace the product they delivered with the one I ordered. However, since they did not do their due diligence, they must allow me to recover the damages their negligent action has cost me. Cordially

Good Morning, Let me start off by saying that we sell on an average of 700 to 800 doors a month here. We have been in business for over 50 years and also try to make things as easy and correct for our customers. Majority of the issues that we have with doors and customers are in either the size given to us and the actual swing of the door. Prehung doors are made to order and are not like a regular product that if the customer orders it wrong that we can just take it back because someone else will buy it because not everyone has the same likes, dimensions and swings. With this said we have emails conversations back and forth with the customer showing that we made every attempt to assure her that the door she had is an impact approved door . The door could have been installed, the inspector might have failed it because it didn't match the original paper work but once the correct paper work is shown to the city(which was emailed to the customer), when the inspector shows up again, the door will pass inspection. So once the door is installed you will be able to lock your house even if it does not pass the initial inspection. The inspector will not tell you that you have to take the door out right away if it does not pass. You would probably have to thru a process of resubitmiting the new product approval and then a reinspection. If that would have brought an extra charge then I would understanding working with the customer to make that charge correct, but most of the time there is no charge. Now, this by our email conversations with the customer does not look like was the case. They tell us that the door does not fit. When this happens it usually means that the door was ordered to big for the opening. At times the installer or customer will give a wrong measurement and we have to try and work out a solution to help the customer so that they don't lose that money. If a customer or installer gives us the wrong dimensions then we truly are not liable. When this situation happened we asked the customer what her opening size was so that we can see if the door that they ordered was the correct size for their opening. We also asked for a picture of the door to see if we could figure out what was going on. We did not receive any of that information so that we can expedite and fix her issue. The customer has also mention that the door was missing a piece of metal or wood for installation. I will be attaching a page from the approval paper work that shows you do not need any piece of metal or wood to be installed in-between the door and sidelite. The only piece of wood that is need will be one that goes against the concrete wall before installation. If you are replacing an old door then that piece of wood is usually there or you could choose to change it. If it is a new opening then the installer should know that he/ she needs to order the size they want. That is not something that we send with out the customer asking for it because it could be different thicknesses and widths that each customer needs for their specific job. Again I repeat, I honestly know that if the customer would have respond with our request for the size of opening she has and a better description of why the door did not fit, we could have saved her from spending all that extra money. I again I repeat that if the door ordered was the correct size then she could have installed it and then get a rein spection for the door with the new product approval that we sent to her once she mentioned it.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Florida Lumber acknowledges that they sent me aproduct other than the one I ordered. Florida Lumber took over my decision-making and obviously had a plan of their own for my door replacement needs. Florida Lumber was supposed to honor their contract with me. Whether the door I ordered did not fit is not in question since they did not deliver the door I ordered. I ordered from Home Depot the exact same door. The dimension of the door through Home Depot from Jeld Wen without any problem and it has been installed. Please pick up the door you presumed I needed, and of your own will, without my permission, delivered and left it at my house while leading me to believe the delivery Florida Lumber made was the door I ordered. At no time was I told in advance nor was my permission sought by Florida Lumber to change my order which is necessary. Florida Lumber's presumption was personal and further, they continue to lecture me that I must accept a decision they made to forego the contract we undertook in favor of their own plans for me, which did not serve the purpose I intended, to place the Jeld Wen door I ordered from Florida Lumber to secure my home. Florida Lumber must pick up your door and pay the consequencial costs of the presumption that I needed something other than what is in writing in contract and what I paid for. Florida Lumber is a business that sells doors, I ordered a specific door and signed a contract, which Florida Lumber dinhonored and broke in bad faith; perhaps because I am an elder woman? The language of Florida Lumber's response is presumptious in assuming I have to accept decisions Florida Lumber made on my behalf, which violates the contract. Further, the contractor wrote that a structural piece in the schematics of the NOA document was missing, and the door was delivered in pieces whereas the NOA rating is based on the door delivered as one piece and all components and manufacture gives it a NOA rating. You definitely seem to have taken advanage of a 61 year old femal who served active duty in the United States Air Force. Pick up the door and reimburse me for the damages I incurred due to your prjudice.

First we don't take advantage of anyone no mater what age and what they have done. Second you bought two doors from us, and the other door was not a jeldwen door either but you didn't have any issues with that door. You are only talking about the door with the sidelite and I'm not sure why we weren't given any opening size we ask for it. You ordered a 14" sidelite, maybe you needed a 12" sidelite and that is why it didn't fit. Florida Lumber will bot be responsible for the actions that you need to do because the door did not fit. Florida Lumber will pick up the door and give you credit for the door that was delivered only. I will have your Salesrep call you to arrange pick up.

Thank You

I continue to be amazed at Florida Lumber's position on delivering whaterver they want when customers order items from them. It took time to select those items. That the second door was installed is proof that I made every effort to secure my home in spite of your blunder and afront. The door I am disputing is not a replacement. Hence my insistentce to recover costs.
I am still waiting for at least $800 of the $1900 labor costs to replace the door.

Good Morning. In this case we have already refunded the customer the cost of the door she purchased as of good will to help the customer. The complain was that the door did not fit. We made countless attempts to find out why to see if we can help. The information never arrive to us so we were not able to see where there might have been a mistake when the door was ordered. If it did not fit there should have not been any reason why the door would be installed twice. There are many times that doors are ordered in wrong sizes and swings so that is why when ever the customer calls us with a problem we ask certain questions to find the solution or the cause of the problem. I understand that this might not be what the customer wants to hear but it is the solution that we are able to do. Thank you and please stay safe

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Please be advised that I included the document from the City of Margate Inspector indicating that a structural support was needed for this door to fit the space which the Jeld Wen door I ordered would have fitted and which I subsequntly ordered from Home Depot and installed. I also included the failed inspection because the NOA documents was for the door and sidelite structure built together in order to meet NOA specs; however, you not only delivered the wrong door but delivered the door and sidelight in separate pieces contrary to NOA specs, and with the structural support missing because of the two piece delivery. Please, I have compromised to bare costs that in small claims court I wouldn't have to.
