Florida Skin Center advertises a free skin check. I called and confirmed that yes, the skin check is free, so I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived the next day, I was told, "By the way, if the doctor diagnoses you with any other skin disorder, such as eczema or psoriasis, there will be an office visit fee." Hmmm, well I see what's happening now, everybody has a dry skin patch or two. So, wanting to go ahead with the skin check, I asked what the office fee would be. The receptionist answered it could range from $65 to $200. I felt there was a very good chance that the doctor would find 'something diagnosable' and the fact that they were less than forthcoming when scheduling the appointment, I decided not to go ahead with it. Why would I want to do business with an agency that has to use 'bait and switch' tactics to get new customers. I have a wonderful idea, why don't you just charge a nominal fee (such as $65) for your skin check. I think that everyone would appreciate an honest and professional approach, allowing them to make a decision with all the facts before you lure them in.
