We received our water bill and mailed a check for the entire amount on January 16, and the bill was due on January 22. We never had any contact from them and we were away from home on Wednesday February 7th from 8 am until 11:15 am and found our water was not on. We thought they were possibly working on the lines or something, so went to lunch in the park. After speaking to neighbors we seemed to be the only ones without water. We came home and checked our bank account and saw that the check had not cleared the bank, so my husband called the company (there was a business card left on our door). He received an answering machine to leave a name and message, so he did. I noticed that he did not leave a phone number so he called back again and left his phone number. After about an hour and no call back I called the Florida Public Service Commission and spoke to someone there about having our water turned off without a Shutoff notice. She took my information and said that she would call them and request that they call us, and that if they had not called us by 4:15 or 4:30 to call them back and they would file an official complaint against them on our behalf. They did not call us so I called them and they said that they were not able to speak with them either. The next day at 9:57 am I received a call from them (water co)asking me if I had called them. She told me that our water was shut off due to non-payment. I told her when our check was mailed and she said they had never received it. I told her that we were not aware of it and that we never received a shutoff notice. She said that she had it documented that she called and left us a voice mail message. I told here that we did not receive a message as we would have certainly taken action to get it paid, so we would not lose service She said it as documented and I told her that I had documentation that our check was written and mailed on January 16th. She took my cc info for payment and charged me an extra $3 for that.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I had to pay a $26 reconnection fee, a $5 late fee and a $3 fee for using a credit card. I want these charges refunded to me as this was Not handled correctly, We should have been notified before they shut the water off. They have been harassing a lot of people in our park, after they have paid their bill. One had paid it online and received a shutoff notice. They are sending people shutoff notices a day after the payments were due. Not good business Ethics. shutoff 2 weeks after due date
