Complaint3 days prior to my sons bday I went to est was quote price, ordered and pd in full. Day I pu was told employee messed up need to pay $26 add. ** messI have been a long time customer of this establishment. I went in the establishment March 17, 2015 at 12:25 pm prior to order a cake for my sons 16th birthday. The front desk employee gave me the quote for both a cake and cupcakes. I purchased the 30 cupcakes for the price of $41.00 the price the employee quoted me and paid in full. The employee stated that there was a discount for each dozen. I called the day prior to confirm my order would be ready the next day. I go to pick up my cupcakes Thursday, March 19 at 12:44 pm and I am told that it would be an additional $26.00 I had a choice I could pay it or have nothing and not loose the $41.00 I had already paid and had no cupcakes for his birthday. I spoke to the owner whom admitts this is her employees error and she couldn't take a loss. I told her that is was a matter of principal and that if there was an error I should have been called ahead of time. I would have ordered a cake instead of the cupcakes for the same price of $41.00. The owner told me her cupcakes are fresh and she didn't get my point of calling. She didn't understand the principal. I don't agree that an establishment should change the price or charge extra when you walk in. I put my customer service issue on Flour Power ** page and the owner even admitts the employee made and error but, feels the statements in my review weren't honest so she can't talk to me. I am a fair person, I feel that I should pay the $41.00 that I originally paid. I however believe I am due $26.00 refund for the additonal fee she charged upon pickup. Her employee should be responsible for the error not me.Desired SettlementIf you look at Flour Power [redacted] page you will see my post. Under the post the owner admitts to her employee error. She will not discuss the matter with me because she feel that I was untrue on my post. I am a fair person I believe that I should pay the $41.00 that I was quoted for the cupcakes. I believe the owner should pay be the additonal $26.00 that she charged me upon my pickup a total of $67.00 for 30 cupcakes

Birthday cake smelled extremely bad (sour smell), therefore unedible. Returned entire cake to business but was not given full refund. On Friday, 4/17/15 I picked up a birthday cake from Flour Power Cakes that I had ordered a few days prior. My son's bday party was the next day Saturday, 4/18/15. The cake had been refrigerated all night and was not taken from the box until time to sing happy birthday, late Saturday afternoon. It was such a disgusting sour smell that I couldn't allow my guest to eat it. Not only did I smell it, but other adults at the party confirmed that it was a very bad smell. I had to purchase store cupcakes at the last minute. I paid $50 for the sheet cake to feed up to 30 people. I returned the whole cake to the owner on Tuesday, 4/21/15 because they were already closed on Saturday afternoon, Sunday and Monday and she refused to give me a full refund (giving me half the price of purchase), stating that it just smelled like their cakes, her opinion was that it did not smell like anything wrong and the smell is my opinion. The fact is, I would not have bought cupcakes from a grocer and not allowed my son to eat his cake if it was just my opinion, others would not have confirmed the nasty smell, and I definitely would not have taken leave from work to drive 30 minutes back to Flour Power Cakes to return the cake if it was just my opinion.Desired SettlementI desire the full refund vice half the price of purchase so that I can actually afford a new cake for my son which he did not get.

I recently got married and I hired Flour Power Cakes to make my wedding cake. The cake ended up being a terrible mess. The cake topper that I bought and hand delivered to the owner was not on the cake. Not only was the cake topper not on the cake but no one could get in contact with her after the cake was delivered to find out what was going on or to see if hopefully someone was going to deliver it (and no one did). The owner proceeded to tell me a week later that she forgot the topper and did not want to go get it. Second, the fondant on the top layer of the cake looked terrible. The fondant was lumpy and you could clearly see where the different layers of the cake were. (It looked like there were 2 big dents in the side of my cake!) Third, the fondant was so thick that I could have literally peeled it off of the cake. My husband and I could hardly even get the knife through it for the cake cutting ceremony. I originally did not want to use fondant because I do not like fondant. However, when I did my consultation with the owner I was promised that her fondant would not be gummy or thick that it would be light and make for a more beautiful cake. So I trusted the owner who is a baker and paid the extra money per serving for the fondant. I had several wedding guest tell me that the fondant was chewy and nearly inedible. Fourth, the cake did not taste anything like it did at the taste test and was so crumbly and wet that my husband and I could not pick up a "slice" to feed each other. Instead it was a sloppy and mushy mess. We threw away 2 entire (uncut) layers of cake. I sat down with the owner about a week after the wedding and I did not even receive an apology for delivering such a disaster. She told me that she felt like she delivered me a good cake. I have asked for a partial refund and I have tried to call the owner several times and she never returns my calls and is busy every time I try to make contact.Product_Or_Service: Wedding CakeDesired SettlementI just want everyone in the area to know not to order a cake for a special event from here. And that the owner does not appear to care about her customers and the product that she puts out. refundBusiness Response We are very aware of this issue and have tried to solve it to the best of our ability. As far as the topper, yes I made a terrible mistake and have apologized more than I possibly can. I refunded the bride in the amount of the topper and the shipping that it cost her to receive it. Our bakery closes at 12:00pm on Saturdays, so no one was ignoring the brides calls, we just were simply not there. I never once stated that I did not "want to go get" the topper, just that I thought that showing up in the middle of a reception to put a topper on a cake would have been unprofessional for something that I thought was a minor issue. I am aware now that I made a mistake, and all I am able to do is apologize, refund her money, and learn from it, which I have. The topper was the only problem with the cake.As I discussed with the bride in our meeting that I requested, I am very confused as to her dissatisfaction with the cake. I was given a picture to duplicate, and that is what I did. The lines, not dents, on the cake were intentional to match the picture to the best of our ability. The fondant thickness was no thicker or thinner than any other cake and you can always "peel" fondant off of any cake, as it is a layer on top of icing that peels right off if guests do not wish to eat it. In my professional opinion, I love fondant. So when I am asked my opinion, that will always be what I say. I believe it gives cakes a prettier finish. I will never push my brides in one direction or the other, as it is their cake and their ultimate decision. However, if asking my opinion, I enjoy the look, and taste of fondant. My fondant is made of marshmallows, which when melted, are gummy. Fondant is never "light". Fortunately, this wedding was one where I had many friends attending, and I have received many calls, and messages about how delicious and beautiful the cake was. Those references are available to the Revdex.com upon request, as is a picture of the finished wedding cake after I set it up at their venue. As far as the taste, that is the most confusing of all. I have not changed my recipes, especially after I have given a tasting. The recipe that I made at our consultation, was the same recipe I used on their wedding cake. I am so sorry if the bride changed her mind and no longer liked it, but it was the same exact cake. As I stated above, I requested a meeting so we could discuss what her concerns about the cake were. When she left my bakery she had "nothing left to say". I have apologized many times that she is unhappy, and that she did not enjoy her cake. I stand behind my cake, and my employees who helped me prepare it. We made and delivered a beautiful cake. I have no problem admitting when I make a mistake, because everyone does. If there was a problem I would have no issue refunding the appropriate amount of money to the bride, but the cake was baked fresh, decorated the same day, delivered, and set up beautifully. I have spoken with the bride several times and have apologized and explained to her why I am unable to give her a refund. Since the bride continued to message and call my bakery in a harassing manner, I had to stop responding to her.We have done everything that we are able to do. I am very sorry that this has happened and that we have an unsatisfied customer. Our main goal is to make sure that everyone that leaves our doors is satisfied, and we have tried very hard to ensure that, however, I'm not sure if anything that we do or would have done would satisfy this bride.
