Flower's Cleaning and Handyman Service Reviews (3)

Review: On 5/1/13, owner [redacted] came to our home to look at a series of home jobs we needed to have done. He looked at each job and told us what each would consist of. We showed him the exterior foundation work and explained we needed it done 1st to comply with HOA by 5/19/13. He told us foundation work would require powerwash, remove old paint, fill holes, 2 coats paint and materials est. @ $300. On 5/7/13 he returned with the cost proposal for each job, foundation work for $1000 (all incl), all job totaling $8721 with an est. 6-12 days completion. We agreed, paid 4360.50 up front. He promised to start on 5/15/13 to complete foundation by 5/19/13. Days passed, we heard nothing. We called repeatedly & got excuse after excuse about him needing to finish other jobs, weather, etc. He failed to meet the 5/19/13 date. I inform him of my dissatisfaction with the situation. He promised to start the foundation on 5/1/20. We notified the HOA. On 5/20/13 he sent 2 guys to the job and promised to come himself in a day or two but needed to finish a job. His guys did a 2 1/2 hour rush job of powerwashing & applying a coat of paint and left. Owner didn't call or show to check on job. We immed. noticed they did not remove the peeling paint or fill the holes and cracks before painting. We planned to discuss this with owner when he came by. Again, we heard nothing for days. On 5/24/13 we called him and ended the deal due to his failure to meet the 5/19 date, repeated no shows, and work not performed as contracted for. He apologized and offered a $575 free service is allowed to continue the work. We refused & offered $300 for the rush job. He came to our home with no receipts for materials or anything and demanded $1000 for the job and a signature releasing him from all work. He claimed he never told us he would remove old paint and fill the holes. When we disagreed he became very angry, left abruptly, using vulgar language that included the f word and refused to return any $$. He s holding our money.Desired Settlement: We want him to accept $300 offered and send us the remainder of our money in a cashier's check in the amount of $4060.50 immediately. If he still demands $1000, send us a cashier's check in the amount of $3360.50 immediately. We will file a claim in small claims court for the $700.

Business

Response:

I spoke with Mr. [redacted] regarding this complaint.

The company was hired to do multiple projects for the [redacted]'s. In his proposal he does not specify a date that work would be completed. The contract states the work is estimated to take "about" 6-12 days. When the company was going to start the job it drizzled the first day and rained the next 2. The company cannot paint the foundation with those weather conditions. The company came out the next day once the rain stopped and started the project. The company pressure washed to remove any flaking/peeling paint and painted the foundation. The company also repaired some holes in the foundation; however the [redacted]'s were dissatisfied with the work and wanted the patched areas to be smoother. The company cannot sand these areas to make them any smoother and the company informed the [redacted]'s of this. In addition, the contract states 2 coats of paint max. The company did not feel another coat was necessary. The company received communication from the [redacted]'s on Sunday requesting to cancel the job and asked for a refund. Mr. [redacted] showed up to the property with a check for $3,360.50 and a receipt asking for the [redacted]'s to release the company from any further obligations. The [redacted]'s declined this offer. The company explained $1000 is for work started and for materials. After the [redacted]'s declined the offer Mr. [redacted] left.

At this time, the company is willing to refund a total of $3860.50 which is 500 more dollars than originally offered. Again, the company did start and finish specific projects so the company feels this is a fair offer. In addition to receiving a refund of $3860.50, the company asks for the customer's to agree to take down any/all negative posts they have made against the company. Once the customer signs a letter agreeing to this settlement a check will be released to the [redacted]'s.

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

Regards,

I do not accept Mr. [redacted]'s offer because nothing in his response is true, and the $300 offered is more than reasonable for 2 1/2 hours of handyman work. The $1000 is for the foundation work, and the proposal clearly states "Do 1st, by HOA Deadline May 19." He told us all projects would be completed in 6-12 days. It did not rain on Wed, May 15, the day he promised to start the foundation work, or for the next 2 days. That's why Mr. [redacted] was called on Fri, May 17 to voice concern on him not showing up, and to inform him that rain was forecasted on Sunday, May 19. He apologized and promised to show on Sat, May 18 and didn't show. It rained on May 19. He finally sent the 2 workers to who did the 2 1/2 rush job on Mon, May 20. It was shoddy work as none of the holes were filled and all of the peeling paint was not removed. We never had an opportunity to discuss our satisfaction or the quality of the work with Mr. [redacted] because he never came to the job, or called to check on the quality of the work. We didn't see him or discuss the foundation work with him until Sunday, May 24, when we informed him we wanted to end the contract due to his no shows and constant excuses of needing to complete other jobs. When he came to our home on May 24, thats when we informed him of our dissatisfaction with the work and offered to pay him $300. He became angry that we were dissatisfied with the work, and denied he told us the holes would be filled and peeling paint removed. He told us when we made the deal that materials for the foundation work alone would cost $300, and promised to provide receipts for all materials. Where are the receipts? No holes were filled and, at the most, 1 gallon of paint was used. We did not get the quality of work or materials that we contracted for by the agreed upon day. I will not take down the negative post, and I look forward to explaining to a judge why Mr. [redacted] should not be allowed to scam us. I also plan to seek damages for his disorderly conduct on our property, and interest on our money that he refuses to return as $3,360 was never in question. What law gives any business the right to hold more money than the amount in question. As far as I'm concerned, the very fact that he will not accept $300 for such a shoddy job shows his character.

We have been using Flower's Cleaning service weekly for over 3 years now. I honestly do not know what I would do without her and her team. They go above and beyond expectations during every visit. As a working mom, it is great to know that when I do have time off, I'll actually be able to spend it with my family instead of trying to rush around cleaning the house. I would be lost without them. We've also used the handyman services on several projects with fantastic results.
I almost hate to give them reviews just because I'm terrified they'll get too busy! But I know they will always take care of me.

Flowers cleaning service is absolutely the best and most wonderful house keeper I have ever encountered. She pay attention to detail, make exceptional execution to customize our home's up keeping and cleaning needs and does an immaculate.......thanks Flower cleaning service, the ladies again did a great job of cleaning our house
