Mr***,During your initial visit to our shop, you explained to us that your original transmission had been removed and replaced by another transmission which turned out to be the wrong transmission because it was not made for your truck (it was an earlier model meaning it was not compatible
with your Ford F-150)However, you mentioned, your original transmission that had been previously removed, was still available yet it was full of waterYou assumed it was not usableIn order to explore a more viable cost effective option for you, we recommended that you allow us to check your original previously removed transmission to see if it was indeed damaged beyond repair as a result of the water that had filled itOur hope was that if your original transmission was not damaged by the water, we could still repair/rebuild it- thus creating an opportunity to save you money as a result of not having to completely replace the incompatible transmission that was installed previously and currently causing problems for you.On August 16, you signed and authorized the internal inspection of the previously removed transmission at the price of $A copy of the invoice was given to youUnfortunately, after dissembling and performing the internal inspection, it was confirmed that the water which filled your transmission had indeed caused significant rust and corrosion thereby rendering your transmission irreparableWe recommended to you that it would be best to replace the incompatible transmission with a remanufactured transmission and converterYou agreed, signed and authorized for the service at the price of $2,with the understanding and agreement that in you would have to make a deposit of $2,before we perform any repairs. On that same day of August 17, 2016, you paid a deposit of $2,You were given an invoice for that deposit of which you also signedAfter successful completion of repair of your transmission, we replaced your complete transmission wiring harness at no chargeDuring this process, our technician identified a problem with the computer systemIt was discovered that the previous shop damaged the wiring harness by incorrectly installing the unit resulting in an electrical short circuitingYou were very upset with this news and these findings- which is completely understandable. You requested that we perform no additional diagnosis and/or repair and that you will pick up your vehicle without repairs to the computer systemHere at Gene Brown, we work very hard to help our customers in anywayVery often, we go above and beyond to repair other items at no charge so that we can help our customers wherever reasonably possibleWe still are willing to repair the computer system on your Ford F-at the cost of parts onlyPlease feel free to give us a call directly at *** ***.*** ***Gene Brown Transmission*** *** *** *** ** *** ***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The form attached to Gene Browns last response proves my point. Someone is now falsifying documentation. They are stating I agreed to the total cost before the work was done. This is false. The 1st document they submitted with they're last response, is the form I signed when I initially dropped the vehicle off. It is dated 6-28-16. As they have stated I authorized the initial inspection on that date, I then authorized the internal inspection the next day. I was given the total of $3190 out the door on the 7-1-16 and gave authorization to perform the work on that date, at NO time was any other fees discussed or authorized. On 7-1-16 I paid the $2600 deposit over the phone which posted to my account on 7-2-16 which can be seen in the attached snapshot. Someone at the business wrote in the total amounts after the fact. To state that this document is legitimate, would be the same as stating they knew what was w[redacted]g with the transmission, and the total cost of fixing it, prior to ever doing an inspection. I find this a little impossible. I went in on the promised completion date, as nobody called me to let me know it was done. I saw my vehicle sitting outside and unattended with the keys in the ignition. The reason there is a balance due on the 2nd attachment of their last response was because when I went in to pick it up, the total was above the agreed upon price, and this was the only way they would release the vehicle. Once again nothing above the $3190 was agreed upon or authorized. The total on the authorization form was written in after the fact and without my knowledge or consent. Regards,[redacted]

[redacted] brought his 2002 Ford Mustang 115,394 miles into our shop for clutch and transmission service. Our ASE certified technician removed and replaced clutch disc,, pressure plate and release bearings, removed and replaced flywheel and pilot bearing, removed and replaced roar main engine seal...

and topped off engine oil, removed and replaced transmission front bearing retainer and pivot ball assembly, removed and replaced clutch fork assembly with a 12mo/12000 miles warranty. We advised [redacted] that the engine was making a knocking noise and needed to be looked into and reminded him of his 10 day check-up of clutch repair for any adjustments needed under warranty. On 8/17/15 [redacted] returned to have clutch checked and adjusted under warranty. Our ASE certified technician adjusted clutch at no charge and performed a diagnostic check. The diagnostic found the engine noise coming from the internal engine lifters and timing components. We quoted the repair for the 16 engine lifters, parts and labor at $1500.00 and the repair for the timing components parts and labor at $1823,20. We advised [redacted] to first replace the lifters to see if that would correct the problem. [redacted] agreed and authorized lifters repair at $1500.00. After replacing all 16 lifters and both valve cover gaskets.the knocking was not as loud but there was still a noise coming from the timing components. [redacted] agreed and authorized to replaot, both right and left timing chains, all 4 timing chain guides and both right and left timing chain tensioners and paid $1500.00 on 8/21/15 for the lifters and valve gasket repair. We discounted the timing components repair ftom $1823.20 to $1500.00 saving [redacted] $323.20. After repairing the timing components the noise at idle was gone but upon acceleration there was still a knocking noise. We advised [redacted] that eliminating one problem at a time is more costly and recommended since the vehicle was 13 years and over 115,000 miles to completely rebuild the engine. An engine overhaul service for a 2002 Ford Mustang is $5508.12 with a warranty of 3 years / 3600 miles. We offered to apply a $3000.00 credit towards the engine overhaul service bringing it to $2508.12. He agreed but asked if we could finance the balance for 4 years. We offered to finance the balance at no interest for 1 year. [redacted] said he would think about it and get back to us on Monday 8/31/15. On 9/2/15 he paid his balance of $1500.00 for the timing components repair and told us he did not want to rebuild the engine at this time, We again advised him that the engine still had internal problems not related to the repairs we performed above and at that time showed him all of his old damaged and/or broken parts that we removed and replaced. Customer satisfaction is our goal and we always try to work with our customers it was no different in this case, We are still willing to apply a $3000.00 credit towards the engine overhaul service with a warranty of 3 years / 3600 miles and offer 1 year no interest financing. See attached signed completed invoice and signed credit cards slips.

On 8122/15 [redacted] had is 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix mileage 160,940 towed to our Austin Hwy location for mechanical failure with his transmission. Our ASE Certified Technician performed a complete diagnostic check and found internal transmission failure. We advised [redacted] that an internal...

transmission inspection was required to determine mechanical failure. [redacted] authorized an internal transmission inspection on 8/24/15. Our Technician determined a complete internal transmission overhaul was required. We performed a Complete Internal Transmission Overhaul Service to include master overhaul kit, clutches, steel plates, servo pistons, bushing kit, thrust washer kit, torque converter, filter, forward shaft, all 3 bands, 3 accumulators, manifold pressure switch, both chains, input carrier assembly, fourth clutch shaft, flushed transmission cooler lines, replaced transmission fluid and installed transmission additive. We performed a Rear Main Engine Service, removed and replaced engine oil, oil pan gasket, rear main engine seal, engine oil and filter. [redacted] agreed to all repairs before work was performed and was given a 24 month/24,000 mile warranty on Transmission Overhaul Service and a 12 month /12,000 mile warranty on Rear Main Engine Seal and Oil Pan Gasket Service. We advised that all motor and transmission mounts need to be replaced because it could cause leaking and transmission problems. [redacted] declined stating that he would have his mechanic do repairs. We noted the additional repair needed on invoice repair order on 9/2/15. He picked up his vehicle on 9/2/15 signed and dated completed work order invoice (see attached). On 12/17/15 [redacted] contacted our shop stating that his vehicle was not shilling properly. He brought his vehicle to our Austin Hwy location for a diagnostic check. We advised that his vehicle would need to be test driven to determine if there was a shifting problem. We did not experience any shifting problems with his transmission. [redacted] picked up his vehicle on 12/21/15 but was very upset and physically assaulted my manager [redacted] choking him leaving red marks around his neck. The police were called and full report was given. [redacted] did not press charges and still wanted to help [redacted]. Physical violence of any sort is not acceptable. On 1/5/16 [redacted] contacted us stating that his mechanic said his transmission was leaking fluid. We advised [redacted] to bring his vehicle to our shop. [redacted] brought his vehicle to the Grissom location on 1/11/15. A diagnostic check found that thetransmission was leaking from the axle seals and would be replaced under warranty. However, the transmission overhaul is not the cause of the axle seals leaking. Since the vehicle had been driven over 11,000 miles from original date of repair we advised that if the transmission leaks from the axle seals once again he would need to replace all motor and transmissions mounts as indicated on original invoice and now possibly the axle shags.Customer satisfaction is our goal and we always try to work with our customers. It was no different in this case.

[redacted]Compliant [redacted] had his 2002 impala towed to our shop for a no start problem. He authorized a diagnostic check for $145.00.   Our ASE certified technician performed a diagnostic check to include check the computer system , electrical system and fuel pressure. trace...

computer and electrical going to crank camshaft sensor.  The technician was able to start the vehicle and diagnosis found the following repairs needed : major tune-up, vacuum hose assembly and body control module needed to be replaced. We informed [redacted] of the repairs required and gave him a estimated quote of $500.00.  [redacted] declined all repairs. He did not authorize any repairs.  He asked if he could pay for the diagnostic fee later as he girlfriend took all his money. We agreed to let him return to pay the diagnostic.[redacted] returned later stating that several things were going wrong with his vehicle. We informed him that we did not perform any repairs we only did a diagnostic check and gave him a list of repairs required .  There was no invoice generated because he did not have any repairs performed and he did not pay for any services.  We only performed a diagnostic check for $145.00 that he still owed and a receipt for that would be given once paid.  We offered to diagnose his new issues with his 2002 Impala. He said he would go and get the $145.00 for the diagnostic fee and would return. [redacted] did not pay for the diagnostic fee of $145.00 and he did not pay $500.00 for any repairs as he declined all repairs and no repairs were performed.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  The claim by Gene Brown Transmission is absolute fraudulent lie concocted by them to cloud the real reason of my complaint against them.  The inconvenient truth is that Gene Brown Transmission does substandard work.  They botched the transmission repair on my 1993 Mercedes Benz 300D Plain and Simple.  In addition, Mr [redacted] stills owns me several hundred dollars for over payment since he was short on cash and from cash back on the defective return parts taken out of my car that I purchased from Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts.  I am curious on what proof Mr [redacted] has to back up his malicious claim.  If he cannot prove what he states publicly then what should I do to rectify this injustice?

RE: [redacted] Case [redacted] brought his 2002 Mercedes Benz 206,189 mi to our Columbia sq. location indicating that his vehicle slips out of gear after warming and loud whining noise. He signed a diagnostic check authorization and wrote a brief description of problem. Please see attached signed work order. Our ASE Certified technician test drove his vehicle 8 miles to our Grissom Location and found when the heated the transmission would not shift properly. We had our Head Technician specializing in foreign vehicles perform a complete diagnostic check and found pump pressue and internal hydraulic pressure was below specifications. We advised [redacted] that an internal transmission inspection was needed to determine mechanical failure. [redacted] authorized an internal transmission inspection. Our technician found transmission overhaul with converter service was required. We honored the original quote of $3190.00 plus fluid, shop supplies and taxes for a total price of $3647.99. [redacted] agreed to the total price before work was performed and authorized a down payment of $2600.00 on 7/1/16. Please see attached signed authorization on invoice. Our technician removed, disassembled, rebuilt internally to manufacture specs and reinstalled transmission to include transmission overhaul with converter service. Flushed transmission cooler lines. Replaced transmission fluid and installed transmission additive. Flashed and reprogrammed computer. Shop supplies needed included cleaners, assembly grease, assembly lube, paint, thread lock, seal, silicone, waste fees. A transmission overhaul service comes with a 12/mo 12/mi labor and internal parts warranty. We advised of 10 day validation and if serviced (signed service and recommended date on invoice includes filter, pan gasket, and fluid) as required for warranty we would give him an additional year on parts only for 24/mo or 24/.mi warranty on all internal transmission parts. The service is required once a year. Electrical and computer problems going to the transmission are a different repair. Please see attached signed invoice.Customer satisfaction is our goal. We discounted the shop supplies used to repair his Mercedes of $95.00 as a courtesy because he was upset and indicated that we did not go over the shop supplies with him. If serviced as required for warranty we will honor a full warranty 24/mo 24/mi labor and internal parts warranty. The warranty will be good at all Gene Brown Transmission shops.Sincerely,[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:
The first quote was 1500 since I didn't have the amount after just paying almost 1600 for the repairs prior I was told he would do the work for 1200.   Then "more " problems came up and it would be an additional 1500  .  When I went to pick up the car the original discounted price of 1200 was not honored .     If I knew that it would not be , I would never had allowed any further work to be done.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:The response from Gene Brown Transmission has false statements. I did authorize the inspection of the transmission to discover the issue. When I initially dropped off the vehicle I mentioned to them that I believed it needed a...

new converter, which I was told would be $895. After I dropped it off, and it was taken to another location (which was never discussed or authorized) I received a call from [redacted] the owner stating that the converter was in fact good and in working order and that there were other internal issues causing the malfunction, and that it would require further inspection by removing and opening up the transmission, which I authorized. In the next call I received, again from [redacted], I was told that the transmission needed to rebuilt including converter service. Although I questioned to myself "if the converter was good why does it need to be replaced?" I figured they're the professionals and if they say it needs it then it needs it. I then asked [redacted] what it would cost versus just replacing the whole thing with a rebuilt transmission and he said he would get back to me. On the third call, again from [redacted], he gave me a price for a rebuilt transmission with a 36 month warranty, which I could not afford. He then stated he could rebuild the existing transmission with a 24 month warranty and it would be just as good as the rebuilt. I asked him how much it would cost, and he gave me the price of $3190. I specifically asked if this was the finished "out the door" cost to which he stated it was. This was still a lot of money and I told him I would have to get back to him after I looked at my budget and discussed it with my wife. After running some numbers and making sure I had the available funds I called him back and again reaffirmed the price was $3190 finished out, and again he confirmed. I made a $2600 deposit so they could begin the work. At no point did we ever discuss, nor did I authorize, any further taxes, shop, or supply fees. It is complete lie, that I authorized these extra fees before the work was done, as they are stating, as I wasn't even aware of them. When someone gives a "finished" or "out the door cost" it is presumable that this includes tax and any fees necessary to perform the service. I was not made aware of such fees and taxes until I went to pick up the vehicle. Secondly, never was it discussed that the standard warranty is 12 months, and that they were giving me anything extra. It was simply stated by [redacted] that I would receive a 24 month warranty, which with the way it was presented anyone would assume that it entailed parts, labor, and anything associated with the work performed. Had I been notified of the additional costs or lack of substance in the warranty, I more than likely would have rejected the service. They are making it sound as if the $95 they deducted was a courtesy they extended, when in reality it was the result of me having to do everything short of yelling at the girl behind the desk to call [redacted] regarding the issue, at which point he called me a liar, and said he would deduct it because he was ill and didn't want to argue. The reason I had to pay part of the bill when picking up the vehicle and then return to pay the balance was because I did not arrive expecting the extra fees and this was the only way I could get them to release the vehicle. Also on both occasions I went in to pay, there were other customers present complaining about problems with the service they received. They are stating they depend on return customers, it sure doesn't show in the way they treat their customers. When I went in to pay the remaining balance (because I honor my end), I was so upset and uncertain over and of the service I received that I specifically asked the guy at the desk if my warranty would be honored at another Gene Brown location, due to the fact I don't want them working on my vehicle again, which I was told it would be, and I have that statement as well as the complaint of the other customer that was there recorded, because after all of this I don't trust anything they tell me.

I am rejecting this response because:[redacted] did not make several attempts to reach my husband [redacted]. We have text documentation of the agreements made  amongst [redacted] and [redacted] never said anything about the computer being malfunctioned. I did also take it to have a second opinion and with the computer being malfunctioned your not able to do a proper diagnosis. So how and why did he charge for a diagnosis that could not be performed from the beginning. As he stated in his response above. We do not trust our vechile back at this location when he informed us that he would sale our vechile illegally. He did not give us 30 day notice he did not send a certified letter and nor  dis he try contacting us by phone or text message stating we need to hurry and pay off our vechile or he was going to sale it! Striving for customer satisfaction is not what Gene is about because if he was he would have been upf[redacted]t and honest with his customers from the beginning and still is not being honest after contacting the Revdex.com. If further evidence of the text messages or call logs from my provider need to be submitted please don't hesitate to contact me. I don't feel safe taking my vechile back to this location after the immature manner that [redacted] portrayed his self in. A business owner never taunts his customers nor will never try to  hesistate to make it right before leaving his business. We have not heard a word from [redacted] since May 2017.
Regards,
[redacted]
