Floy's Pampered Poodles Reviews (1)

Review: On March 19,1 bought a 10 wk old teacup poodle puppy from [redacted]. Breeder told me the puppy recently recovered from being sick and lost weight after vaccines were given. Breeder assured me puppy would be fine and I could pick her up. The morning after I bought the puppy, I noticed she was constipated. Her constipation required a trip to the vet and vet phone calls to address this problem.

When puppy was 16 weeks old she broke her leg/elbow running a short distance on flat surface in my kitchen. I saw it happened and thought she stepped on a piece of glass. Rushed her to an emergency vet clinic, and was told she had broken her leg. And the brake was so complex it would require an certified orthopedic surgeon.

The orthopedic surgeon that operated on puppy said the end of her femur bone was so badly damaged it had missing/fragmented bone. The missing bone created a void within the elbow joint and the elbow was unstable and bent the wrong way in the socket .Her leg was basically non weight bearing. The next option for puppy was amputation or operating on her leg to fuse the elbow straight into a non moveable position. But surgeon didn't like the fusing option.

I got a second opinion and surgeon agreed with orthopedic surgeon. The second surgeon also said the puppy shouldn't have broken her leg so easily doing something so innocently.

While puppy was facing amputation or fusing options of her injured/operated leg, her back legs started giving out on her! She was diagnosed with Patella Luxation. But puppy would have to wait until she got older to have surgery on the back legs if the patella luxation persisted. With a cast on the front leg and her two back legs failing, it made it impossible for the puppy to poop without my assistance. I had to put my hand under her belly, so she wouldn't fall over. Her quality of life was sad indeed.

With the puppy not being able to potty without assistance, and being face with three surgeries, and the weakness in her muscle/skeletal system, her future looked grim. My husband and I made the difficult decision to put her to sleep.

I have contacted the breeder about the situation. And the breeder refuses to refund my money. The breeder contract states that she "guarantee puppy is healthy at the time given to new owner". Well the puppy wasn't healthy. It recently recovered from being sick and lost weight after recent vaccinations and the puppy was severely constipated. The puppy was far from healthy and inherited a congenital weakness in her bones and joints from one or both of her parents.Desired Settlement:

I want the breeder to refund my money. I'm not interested in getting a replacement puppy from breeder because I'm afraid of getting more vet bills. Enclosed is copy of purchase agreement from breeder, copies of cashier's check and complaint form. Let me know if you need anything else.

Response:

1 am basically a hobby breeder. Only having pups occasionally, because I enjoy the babies.

To my knowledge, I have never placed a sick puppy. I attempt to take great care with whom I place my babies, as they arc special to me.

Ms [redacted] e-mailed me that at 16 weeks of age [redacted] broke her front leg. The leg was not healing well and without informing me Ms [redacted] had [redacted] put to sleep.

None of [redacted]’s injuries or other issues were life threatening. It is my belief [redacted] was taking to much time and care away from [redacted]’s daily schedule.

I have no control over pups after they leave my care. My guarantee is pups are healthy when given to their new owners, after that the care and affection must come from the new owners.

I provide the new owners with a written guarantee (see copy below & attached) and we both signed it verifying the puppy was indeed in good health. I will include with this response copies of the contract and vet statements, to aid in verifying my response.

As with all issues there is normally two sides to any problem, and this problem is no different. I will attempt to provide a time line and back-up data as to my side of the story.

Complaint ID [redacted]

I received and reviewed the second batch of information provided by [redacted], composed of a series of Veterinary billings. I could derive very little from them.

It appears to me that some how the puppy broke it's leg, just how is in question. The issue diagnosed by Ms [redacted] vet is not a life or death problem. I have been told by my Vet the issue quite often disappears entirely as the dog ages.

The long and the short of this is that Ms [redacted] purchased a healthly puppy, some how broke it's leg, complications occurred, and she had the puppy put down. This took place over 116 day time frame.

Ms [redacted] rather than bring the puppy back and discuss any possible refund choose to dispose of it. I am not sure what else I can say, a dead puppy has very little value.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[redacted] sold me a puppy with congenital defects.

The puppy had problems before I took possession of her.

The puppy health deteriorated so quickly, by the time she was 6 months old, she already had one limb surgery, was facing amputation or another surgery on that leg. And her back legs were failing but she would have to wait until she got older to have surgery on them. The puppy's legs were so bad; she couldn't eliminate without my assistance. The puppy required around the clock care. She truly wasn't a healthy puppy.

I kept [redacted] up to date with the puppy's health issues the entire time the puppy was in my possession. Not once did she offer to take the puppy back, yet now she claims the "dead puppy" has no value to her. I can't understand why she waited so long to think about it.

I have not seen any documentation from [redacted]'s vet stating that he/she has studied all the puppy's vet reports and believe the puppy may have outgrown her defects. Everything I have written to the Revdex.com has been substantiated with documentation.

I think [redacted] B. Mathew should accept responsibility for breeding a puppy with such bone and leg problems. I think she should refund my money. I believe I'm being more than fair. I'm only asking for a refund, not reimbursements of vet bills. I believe [redacted] B. [redacted] should have returned the money months ago without hesitation. Her contract states "she guarantees puppy is healthy at the time it is given to new owner". The puppy was far from healthy.

I am willing to arbitrate this matter if we can't come to an agreement.
