We had flue tech come out to our house last spring to see if our gas fireplace could be converted to a working log/wood fireplace We were told absolutely yes and paid to have the conversion We just used the fireplace for the first time during this past storm and smoke just came pouring back into the house horribly We tried several times to see if it just needed a few uses but the smoke was consistently horrible We called flue tech and had them come back out to take a look and were told that that is the best that the fireplace can do We could spend $more to put in a system that would help it function properly but the fireplace can only handle maybe one to two logs and must burn very very slowly in order to avoid smoke coming back into the house That is absolutely, unequivocally not what we were told when they first came out to quote conversion We were told that we could absolutely convert it with no problem and with usage At no point in time were we ever adv
Flue Tech repaired my chimney as contractedThey were on time, polite and cleanThey did my neighbors house as well who were also happy with their workI would refer them again
I hired Flue Tech located in Norwood, New Jersey to clean out my fireplace. As part of that service, Jay the technician said he would also inspect the two flue caps (one for the fireplace, one for the furnace). He went up on the roof (I did not follow him) and when he came down he said "both flue caps had to be replaced". I told him I would think about that, on the receipt he gave me it included the price to replace each flue cap. Instead, I contacted a local handy-man that I have used for many years and totally trust (he is a veteran like me) to see if he would be able to replace the caps ... he said "of course". He told me to call him back when I had the new caps, I was able to buy the exact size I needed at Lowe's. A few days later he and his son came over to my house to replace the caps, however when they went up on the roof he called down to me and said "NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH BOTH FLUE CAPS"! I returned both caps to Lowe's the next day. Because of this I would NEVER use this company again and would not recommend them to a friend.
