offered to keep the Corolla for the duration of his rental contract, as his residence is some 80+ miles away from our location. He declined this offer, stating that the Corolla was simply too small for him. We obliged and exchanged the vehicles upon completion of the repairs. Mr. [redacted] expressed satisfaction and gratitude for our customer service. He also expressed a liking of the vehicle to the degree that he offered to purchase it, as long as we would finance it for him. We are not a finance company, but a rental car company. This is where Mr. [redacted]'s displeasure initiated. As his contract end date (March 16, 2016) approached, we attempted to arrange a suitable time and day for the return of the vehicle, and each and every arrangement came and passed [redacted] Mr. [redacted] not returning the vehicle. He was offered $400 to return the vehicle, he declined. As time continued to pass, Mr. [redacted]'s intent became apparent in that he had no intention of returning the vehicle, as his contract stated. He stated many times that he wanted a refund and asked how much he would be getting back, at times he outright demanded money, giving the impression of extortion. It is impossible, not to mention financially irresponsible, to offer a refund of any amount to a renter before visualizing and inspecting the vehicle upon its return. A certified letter was sent to Mr. [redacted], as per legal requirements, requesting return of the vehicle as well as reminding him of the daily late fee with which he agreed on his signed contract. After multiple attempts to recover the vehicle, Mr. [redacted] refused to disclose the exact location of the vehicle, a police report was filed with the Corona Police Department on March 24, 2016, case #XX-XXXX, for embezzlement and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Mr. [redacted] through the Palmdale Police Department. On March 30, 2016, our company was finally able to locate the vehicle and recover it. The vehicle was in atrocious condition: drug paraphernalia was discovered in the vehicle, moldings removed from the doors, body damage, interior damage. He currently owes our company $3639.00 to include $2000.00 for vehicle damages, $1190.00 for late fees, $350.00 for vehicle recovery, $99.00 for gas replenishment.
