FLUXX Reviews (1)

Review: A group of friends and I saw the Faint preform at Fluxx the other week. When walking to the bathroom and very shady man offered to sell me cocaine. After reporting this guy to the head of security [redacted], I was told by him "don't worry, it happens here all the time." After then proceeding back onto the floor, I was assaulted by what seemed to be the drug dealers friends. They punched the back of my head, pulled my hair and we're pushing me into many of the club go-ers around me. Then the same group of security removed me from the club because they said they had heard from someone that I had punched a girl? After talking with the security and explaining the situation, he decided to let me back into the club, but not the group of friends that stepped just outside of the guard rail to also talk to the security. [redacted] said "There is no re-entry to the event tonight. No one asked them to follow us out." We were not offered a refund or any sort of compensation for the concdert that was literally robbed from us. I have a strong suspicion that the head of security and the drug dealer knew each other and we're working with each other.Desired Settlement: FULL refund for the price of two tickets, including service fees (for myself and my girlfriend) totalling to $48.10.

Response:

FLUXX has been in communication with the customer [redacted] from one of our Managers [redacted]. Below is the email send to [redacted] from FLUXX's manager [redacted] back on April 30th:

After receiving and reading your email, I wanted to clear up some false accusations and also provide some clarification as to what our policies are and how they involved you and your friends in the evening of Wednesday April 17th 2013.

To your first point, as for approaching me personally to notify me of any patron propositioning any drugs to you, particularly cocaine, that interaction never happened with me. If it did I will assure that my next course of action would of been to further investigate this problem and escort the "dealer" in question outside the venue. The venue as whole has zero tolerance when it comes to any illegal substances whether in possession and/or attempts to distribute. That situation would been handled as such and the response of "don't worry that happens all the time" is both uncharacteristic of me and my 15 years industry service and slander on your part.

To your second point, it was brought to the security staff's attention that a gentleman (described as you) was on the dance floor, possibly intoxicated and dancing aggressively to the point where he elbowed a young lady in the process. Following our normal policy with all situations involving intoxicated and/or combative patrons we politely escort the patron outside. This is done in order to better assess the situation and patron outside without the distracting factors of the nightclub. Once outside I had the ability to express to you the concerns of both the safety of patrons inside the venue and your own. I appreciated your enthusiasm for the band and empathize with the possibility of you unintentionally hitting people in your area while dancing. I expressed the importance of being aware of people around you and respect for each person’s space. Before I let you back in the venue, I reiterated the fact I have staff all over the venue and if you need anything else to use us as a resource instead of taking on any issues on your own. At the time you respectfully acknowledged that and appreciated the outcome.

On your way back in, you noticed your friend outside and found out he was asked to not come back in for the evening. You asked me what was the status on your friend and why he couldn’t come back in. Since I didn’t personally escort your friend out I inquired with my staff member that did to provide a better understanding as to what led to his removal. Upon doing so, I was informed that he was witnessed personally by my security staff two-hand shoving another patron inside the venue. Fluxx, especially in a preventative manner, has no tolerance for aggressive and physical actions or reactions in any matter. In that moment your friend displayed a characteristic of an aggressive and unmannered patron which we would not accept at Fluxx. Those actions are a detriment to patron safety and a foreshadowing of how he may react to any situation in the future. It would be irresponsible for us as a business and as proper servers of alcohol to allow that gentleman to stay for the evening. Once this was explained to both you and your friend by me personally you asked a couple more times to reconsider the decision. I politely declined. After realizing there was no progress with changing my mind, you decided to get vulgar and threaten both my livelihood and the venue. As you angrily walked off you wanted to assure me that I’d be fired and that you’d definitely be complaining.

Throughout this whole ordeal, I was nothing but polite and patient with you. I took time to explain both the venues policies and why it was important for me to be consistent with enforcing them. As with this email, I have no problem being able to explain any and all decisions made by myself and my staff. What does bother me is your attempt to slander both my character and reputation of Fluxx as a business with a fabricated account of what happened that night. When possible I’d love to clear any misunderstandings there are. Let me know what I could do to enable this and move forward positively.

-[redacted]

[redacted] became irrational after realizing that we woudl not let his friend back in and started threatening not only my manager's job but something or the sort that he woudl come back and break one of the windows. I first hand had two guests form the dance floor complain about [redacted] being out of control on the dance floor while watching The Faint concert at FLUXX. [redacted] was treated professionally and after being talked to outside was allowed back in the venue. When [redacted] then noticed his friend outside for a physical altercation and was not going to be allowed by in is when [redacted] became irate and disrespectful by thretening my staff employment which is obviously his made up "drug dealer" story in an attempt to slander our manager [redacted]. FLUXX does not see any reason to refund [redacted] his money due to his own actions were the ones that get him escorted from the venue. Then upon being outside and seeing his friend outside [redacted] became more confrontational which caused him not to be allowed back in for the rest of the night.
