Flying B #36 Chevron Station Reviews (1)

Review: On July 15, 2013 I filled up my car's tank with gas at this station. I was charged for 17.814 gallons of gas at $4.09 per gallon. After arriving back home I looked up the fuel capacity in my owner's manual and saw that my car has a sixteen gallon tank. And when I filled it up there was still a quarter of tank of gas in it. So the calibration for this pump is way off. I notified [redacted] and they did an official investigation. However, since the station is independently owned and the owner did not respond to them or me, there was nothing [redacted] could do. They referred me on to a company called [redacted] I'm not sure what they do, maybe supply them with fuel? Anyway, they gave me the same answer, this is a privately owned business and we can't do anything about it. Therefore, I am asking if you can help with this in any way? Sincerely,[redacted]Desired Settlement: At first my only intention was to notify the owner that he had a problem so that he could fix it and not overcharge other customers. However, in light of his total disregard I would at least like an explanation and a refund of 4 gallons credited back to my credit card.

Response:

Hi, I am writing this in response to case # [redacted] for flying b# 36 chevron station. First I want to say is this is the first time that I have gotten any notification of this complaint. The customer never tried to get a hold of me earlier. In response to this complaint, our pumps are regularly checked by the state officials and are calibrated and stamped. There is no way the pumps will do this. And it is very common for a 16 gallon capacity tank to hold more than 16 gallons.. I have done that myself. The manual states that you should only fill the tank up 90 % of its capacity, but it can hold 10% more than what it states. From my experience every car car company states this differently. But it's common for a car to take more gas than it states. To resolve this issue, we have a five gallon meter at the station which is used to caliber ate the pumps by the state. If this customer is willing to and wishes can contact me and we will be more than willing to perform that. My cell phone is ###-###-####. They can contact me anytime.

I thank you for taking the time to hear the other side of the story.. Than you again..
