In response to this complaint, the patient stated that the allergen labs we had her son do were invalidated by her physician and her allergist, however, you cannot fake a blood lab. The physician and allergen clearly do not understand the nature of the testing that was performed. The testing is...

blood lab that tests food proteins to your blood. If an antibody/antigen is activated, you have an allergy, this cannot be argued, it's science. A physician and an allergen would most likely refer to this as a food sensitivity testing instead of an allergy testing but that is because it's testing the IgG response (delayed) where as at an allergen and M.D. office tests the IgE response (anaphylaxis/immediate). The patient also stated that the testing was over $600. That is also false as she had two labs done. She had a food allergy test which was $175 cash and a $26.50 blood draw service fee which she paid to us. She also had a neurotransmitter test done which as either $227.00 cash OR they had the option to do insurance which would then be $269.00. This brings the up-most total of $470.50. As to the notation of her having to pay $250 for a test read that isn't billable to insurance and that she didn't feel was necessary because she could read the tests herself; the state of Wisconsin doesn't recognize functional medicine so no we cannot bill an in office test read visit to insurance and the patient is more than likely not capable of understanding a neurotransmitter test and diagnosing her son herself. That is why we charge what we do; our doctors here went to college and spend hours every day training and advancing themselves so that they can help our patients to the best of their ability. Dr. [redacted] works side by side with a nurse practitioner here at our office and if he was ever questioning if a medicinal herb would negatively react with any medications the patient was on, he would never have given the patient the supplements to take in the first place. Everyone is different and therefore everyone will react differently to supplements and medications. If you go on thyroid medication and I go on thyroid medication I can guarantee that there will be two totally different responses within your body and my own. With that being said, the patient is requesting some type of reimbursement for her supplements; they are prescription strength supplements and if the patient were to go into a pharmacy and order something and it didn't do exactly what she was expecting and she asked for a refund, there would be no refund. The same applies here. We prescribe patients supplements, they purchase them, take them home, and use them. We cannot allow a return or refund on that. As far as the neck adjustments relating to her child's seizures, the patient and his mother had the right to deny care at any time and the doctors would not have performed a neck adjustment if that was the case. Never would our doctors go beyond a patient's medical request to deliberately cause harm or even any discomfort if there was no permission granted. They sign paperwork upon being seen at this office that clearly states that only chiropractic care is billable to insurance and that no functional medicine is and they also sign a permission field which grants our doctors the right to adjust them IF the patient so chooses. As for the billing department; the patient called not wanting to pay her bill and the billing department calmly disputed the bill with the patient, the patient just didn't like our answer and as a result the patient was actually rude to the billing department. Its a customer service job; you don't get the option of being rude.  As for the patient spending over $1.000 here at our clinic, we have attached the entire ledger for you to review. The patient has spent a total of $362.14 at our clinic with the additional $227.00-$269.00 for her neurotransmitter test which she paid directly to the lab. Also take note that there was only one adjustment performed on her son (Manipulation 1-2). This mother is clearly upset with the choice that the clinic has made in choosing to pursue her for her current bill rather than writing it off as she feels justified that we should. We have made several attempts to contact the patient and the patient refuses to call us back or contact us in any way shape or form.

Review: I was told that all appointments were covered by insurance. I had paid in cash to get several labs that physicians and allergies have told ,e are not even valid, not to mention they were over $600 for 2 labs. To read the results back to me, I am now being billed an additional $250, that they are telling me is not billable to insurance. I was told that I would have to pay for supplementation out of pocket and I was told the labs were out of pocket, which I paid. I didn't need someone to read the results back to me for an extra $250. I was also sold supplements 2 of them, California poppy and Valerian root, which on a certified medical site given to me by my son's neurologist that these interact with all 3 of the medications that my son was taking. His neurologist also advised against taking. I had asked Dr [redacted] if they would interact in any way shape or form and he told me, "I would never give your child anything to hurt them." He told me he works with neurologists all the time. The supplements were an additional $120 that I again paid out of pocket. Also the chiropractors Dr [redacted] and Dr [redacted] recommended that my son get regular neck adjustments to aid with his seizure disorder. Dr [redacted] did perform a neck adjustment and my son being 2 weeks seizure free had 30 tonic clinic seizures following the neck adjustment. I had cancelled all neck adjustments from that point on. Neck visit I told Dr [redacted] I did not want anymore neck adjustments for that reason. After specifically saying I did not want anymore neck adjustments, he gave my son a neck adjustment. My son proceeded to have 30 grand meal seizures after being 22 days seizure free beginning an hour after leaving the clinic. My pediatrician, and a certified allergist both told me that they had several patients going and getting these "allergy" tests from Dr [redacted]'s clinic and that it is not valid. I addressed the concerns with the billing department after receiving a bill in the mail several days ago for $249.60. She was very rude.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive some sort of reimbursement with return of supplements, as well as my balance of $249.60 billed to insurance or be null and void. The company was dishonest on multiple occasions, went a against my wishes and harmed my son, as well as costed me over $1,000 for false and inadequate care.
