Review: Actual moving charges exceeded written quote by 50 %. Our personal possessions were held hostage until we paid the new price.

Our personal possessions were held hostage until we paid the new price. Would not unload final one third of our furniture. One of the workers said the company practices this method 80% of the time. Thats how they do busy everyday. Desired Settlement: difference in price of original quote and price charged

The estimate Mr. [redacted] received strictly says this is an estimate and jobs are based on actual time. Due to the fact there are many factors in moving that affect the price. Such as the factors that occurred on Mr. [redacted]'s move as follow: 1) At the unload we could not get our truck in Mr. [redacted]'s driveway which extended the walk by 15-20 ft. 2)There was extreme weather, torrential down pouring, which is an act of God. 3)Mr. [redacted] withheld that the unload was three levels which would affect our estimate. 4)The customers were not attentive to our crew as they we unloading which increased time due to the fact no one was directing where to put there goods. The following morning our manager, [redacted] spoke with Mr. [redacted] and came to a resolution of a $100.00 reimbursement would settle this matter. Out of good faith we agreed, we issued a refund to his credit card that following morning. As far as we are concerned this is a resolved matter. In fact Mr. [redacted] specifically said that the reimbursement would put an end to any further action.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the partial settlement response from the business.)

I accepted this credit because this was the best I thought I can do dealing with this unethical company. The distance at the new house driveway was no longer than our move from location. The buying public needs to know how this company does business. When one of their own workers tells you this method is used 80% of the time - something is very wrong. Holding your possesions hostage on a already stressful day(moving) is just simply wrong. Also, one of their employees walked off the job in the middle of the unload.

BTW, the compaanies never asked me any questions about the new location accept for the address.

I contracted with [redacted] movers. On moving morning - Flynn moving company shows up. Whats's with that ?? The estimate was for three workers - moving day 4 workers(I use the term loosely) show up. One of the workers said this was the worse crew he ever worked with. This is an exact quote from their worker.

Review: Flynn's tore a hole in my sleep sofa, badly chipped the frames of two antique mirrors, threaded the bolts on my piano + broke 6 glass lamps + frames.

I used Flynn's on the recommendation of my contractor. They charged more than the estimate, broke and damaged many expensive items due to improper packing, and may have irreparably damaged my $10,000+ Baldwin baby grand piano. They chipped the finish of the piano, and I'll only know about the damage they did to the piano's action when I finally have a piano professional get it back together. (Why I ever let them touch it, I don't know.)

When one of the workers badly ripped the arm of a sleep sofa, he apologized, and the foreman assured me that "Flynn's has plenty of money to pay for this."

At the end of the second part of my job--moving me back from my apartment to my house--they said that only a "few things" remained in the apartment. All my clothes, kitchen cabinets, the hall closet, and bathroom drawers remained to be packed and moved--so this was an out-and-out lie.

Stupidly, I took out the "60 cents a pound" insurance, which apparently gave them license to treat my possessions without the proper care. I eventually got a check for $90 from Flynn's, which I haven't yet cashed, because I am still so mad about the $1,500+ it will cost to put my piano back together and repair the gold leaf mirrors and replace the broken lamps and frames. I had to give away the ripped sofa to Goodwill. I paid $650 for a replacement. Then, I had to pay other people to help me finish the rest of the move from my temporary apartment back to my house, at a cost of another $500.

Whatever you do, DON'T USE FLYNN's!!!! Or if you do, be sure you take out full insurance, because you will need it.

Desired Settlement: I am seeking $2,600 from Flynn's to repay me for the damages they caused to my sleep sofa, piano, lamps, mirrors, frames, and the additional charges I had to incur for them not finishing my job.

I am furious that by taking out the lesser insurance policy, they felt it was then okay for them to mistreat my possessions.

Ms. [redacted] brought to our attention the damaged sleeper sofa, it had a small tear, which we offered to get repaired she refused so we sent her a reimbursement check of $90.00 weighing the item at 150lbs based on her insurance which she chose, values her goods at $.60/lb./article. When she did call she also mentioned her baby grand piano was not assembled properly. The crew explained to her that the bolts to the piano legs are cross threaded just as it states on her inventory of goods when we loaded them on her move into storage in which she signed off on, acknowledging the condition of her goods, including other previous damage to her piano. All the other items Ms. [redacted] is stating are damaged have never been reported to us to be able to address. A majority of Ms. Keltings boxes were packed by owner in which we are not responsible.

That is not true at all what Ms. [redacted] states our foreman said in regards to the sleeper sofa, which is completely fabricated.

Ms. [redacted] also states we went over her estimate, which clearly states everything is based on actual time. Ms. [redacted] added a whole other move which was not included in her estimate; the apartment move was above and beyond the estimate she received. The customer does have a responsibility on moving day also. That is to be present to insure everything gets done the way you want it to and in her case everything that she wants us to pack gets packed. We do not go through customers goods without their permission. She should have been present to do a final walkthrough. The crew states the only items left behind were plants in her office, clothes in her closet, and empty boxes which that made an organized pile in her loft. The crew also told her exactly what was left behind.

We would be more than happy to provide the signed inventory which states all previous damages and condition of Ms. [redacted] furniture. It clearly states that the bolts were previously cross threaded to her piano. We did exactly as we are responsible to do in reference to the sleeper sofa. Ms. [redacted] had three options of insurance she chose the included insurance which values goods at $.60/lb/article, that is what we are liable for. Since this is the first time we have been notified of damages to her lamps, mirrors and frames this is the first time we are able to address this issue. We are willing to reimburse an additional $50.00 to cover 85lbs worth of damages which should be more than enough weight to cover these additional items.

I was quoted a price of 315 dollars for a 3 hour move with two men. That to me means 315 dollars for a 3 hour move with 2 men. That was a load of garbage. They would not take my 3 most valuable items off the truck until I paid them. The 315 bucks was now 460 bucks because I had to pay for travel time apparently. At NO point in time was this ever discussed. When my wife questioned this, the driver had a meltdown like a three year old, called her a [redacted] and threw his clipboard. I was so mad that the police were just one button press away. throw into this the two guys they sent me were two smart [redacted] kids with foul mouths and lots of commentary about what "chicks" they hook up with. So now ask me what I think of them. I would rather crwal across a hotbed of coals naked with a grand piano strapped to my back before I would recommend them. On a side note. Thanks Flynns for leaving me 4 nice moving blankets and all of those straps. They will be used.
