Focus Behavioral Health Reviews (4)

Review: This complaint is directed towards the Independence Mall location of Focus Behavioral Health [redacted]). On multiple occasions I have been told that I have a balance on my account, however I know that I always pay before seeing my doctor there. After multiple instances, I became suspicious and began to save my receipts from every visit in the case that they tried to tell me I had a balance again. Last month, I was told that I had a $20 balance for visits from March 2, 2015 and March 9, 2015. I produced the receipt from March 2 confirming my payment and the receptionist photocopied it and sent it to the billing office. I do not have a receipt for the second date, but there is a chance my doctor can prove that I paid for that day, as she keeps her own records on patients. If that is not the case, I will gladly pay the $10. I have visited the office multiple times since first being told of this outstanding balance and producing the one receipt, yet the receptionist never said anything about an existing balance during any of those visits. However, yesterday, I received a bill for an outstanding balance for both March 2 and March 9 AGAIN, even though I can confirm I paid for at least one of those visits.

This business is absolutely terrible at keeping patient financial records and I know that I have lost a substantial amount of money because of this.

I believe this company should be looked into, I cannot believe that a billing department can be this incompetent and still be in business. If this is the way they run things, they shouldn't be allowed to operate at all.Desired Settlement: Correct ALL billing errors, apologize, hire competent and reliable billing employees.

Focus behavioral health is terrible!

Review: Focus Behavioral Health is sending me notices for a missed appt in July 2013- over 2 years ago for $100. I have never been aprised that the missed appt fee was $100 (3X my normal insurance co-pay) or signed any documents stating I am aware of this practice. Further, I was never contacted in the last 2 years for this outstanding fee. I have contacted their office twice to resolve, and they are not interested in partnering with me to solve. I have offered to pay my standard co-pay, but they have resisted.Desired Settlement: I am requesting this business expunge the $100 fee from my record and no longer contact me. I will no longer seek to do business with them in the future.

Review: I have been trying to contact them regarding either getting them to write a letter needed to the IRS , or simply obtaining my complete treatment history since February 2015. My wife and I have left messages, and called multiple times. The constant bouncing around their automated telephone system and never being able to speak with an actual person is the reason I left this office to begin with.

Today, I decided to actually go there to speak with someone. I arrived around 7 P.M. , while it is listed on their google listing that they are open until 8 P.M., they only lady that was working there simply told me that she was leaving and I’d have to come back. When I asked her if she was closing early because their listing states 8 P.M., she quickly avoided answering my question and asked what I needed. When I told her what I needed, she told me I would have to come back another day before 6 P.M.

I get off work at 6 P.M., if they list their hours as 8 P.M. and I arrive at 7 P.M.; there should be no reason that I should not have been able to at least get the release paperwork signed today.

I have a right to access a legible copy of my medical records and feel as though this should have been handled months ago. This is overall poor service.Desired Settlement: A phone call, to discuss my medical records and verify that all of my medical history is accurately documented.

I am requesting a letter addressed to the IRS stating the following:

- The beginning and end date I was in treatment at this office

- Everything I was in treatment for

- How my medical conditions would have impacted my day to day activities i.e. how would this have affected my ability to run a business, ability to work, maintain proper accounting records and timely file tax returns.

- Any other relevant information that would support how my mental instability would have prevented a sole business owner from properly running a business, while working in the field, managing the full accounting system, and timely preparing tax returns.

I’d also like a copy of ALL my records, in the event additional documentation is needed, I would prefer not to get the run around I have received thus far.
