major Homes from the Revdex.com, I took the time to read it over and get my response back as soon as possible. As you can read, the customer states that they called Major Homes with a leak soon after the roof was completed. I personally sent my servicemen back to their home immediately to see what was wrong and what could possibly be done to stop this leak. If you review the complaint submitted the homeowner specifically said that they had a leak in the chimney area, then the customer goes on to say that the next leak was two years later. This in itself proves that it is absolutely not the roof that is leaking. A roof leak will leak every time it rains and not only on heavy rains and driving winds. The reason it took 2 years for the leak to once again happen, is because the roof is not the source of this problem. The leak only occurred on heavy driving windy days where water was being driven by high winds. The water was being driven into where there are openings in the mortar and cracks in the brick. I had my men go back to the homeowner’s home 3 times to look at the leak. Each time that my men were there they were not able to do anything at all because there was nothing wrong with the roof that we did. My men were instructed to take pictures some of which I have provided below so you can see the big openings in the mortar, and brick. I then decided to take the next step to personally go to the customer’s home; where they showed me 4 or 5 proposals from other roofing companies offering to fix this problem. You will see that each company claims and will guarantee the leak will stop if they do Copper flashing and mortar work which Major Homes did not include in our contracted work. I will include pictures of the chimney which is in horrible condition and needs pointing and possibly new Copper flashing at the base of the chimney. There is no possible way that the roof that is leaking. If it were the roof, it would be leaking every time it rained and that is not the case. The leak only occurs with driving windy rain. I am the owner of the Major Homes; I personally installed roofing for the first 25 years of my career and have since been the owner of this company an additional 24 years totaling 49 years of experience. If you or anyone takes the time to look at all our company, Major Homes past records at any agency, you will see that Major Homes Corp. has been around for 98 years and we take care of and accommodate all of our customers in every way possible. I will also enclose everything that I sent to this customer’s home in an effort to try and resolve their leak. This is a case where the Homeowner spent money and does not want to spend one more penny and is blaming Major Homes. I told this customer when I met them at their home as well via text message and also by registered receipt letter that they I suggest strongly that they have the work done by one of the roofing companies that they had at their home and the cost was around $1,300.00. According to the customer and by me seeing the other estimates, these companies guarantee the leak would not occur upon their completion. I told the homeowners that I would give them half the money which is approximately $650.00 now and if the leak stopped within a year, I will be happy to give them the remainder of the money they spent,which is Approx. another $650.00. There is no way that doing only the copper on the chimney will stop this leak. I say this because the leak is from the cement which is missing from around the chimney, which is called mortar. I also proposed to homeowner a second option of giving them the full $1,300.00 now and we separate and leave as friends, Major Homes would not have any more dealings or guarantees on this project. To this day, the homeowner never gave me a response to which way they would like to go. I am a very detailed person and I keep records on everything. Enclosed you will find copies of the letters I sent to the homeowner home Registered Receipt ( as well as VIA texts) making these offers. These customers are being totally irrational. In their own words they do not care where the leak is coming in from all they want is for the leak to stop. If you or anyone that has read my offer must agree that I am making a great offer to the homeowner and I am more than fair. This leak is absolutely not from the work done by Major Homes Corp., yet I am still offering to help resolve the leak. As a matter of fact I offered the homeowner $50.00 to give to the cement mason they chose to look at the chimney to have at their home so he may be there when I came to visit them. I offered this in good faith and because I wanted the mason to go up on the roof, as I did, to confirm that the chimney is in bad condition and needs a lot of mortar work and pointing. There is a reason Major Homes Corp. has been in business 98 years spanning 4 generations. We are not only good at what we do; this is our passion and we take excellent care of our customers. If this customer really believes that the leak Major Homes fault, all they need to do is take me up on one of the options I offered, it is that simple. They call in one of their own chosen roofing companies, I send them $650.00 immediately, they have the work is done, the leak stops or it does not stop. If the leak stops I send them the other $650.00 and everyone is happy. All the customer needs to understand is that if they do this work, the other roofing company guarantees the leak not to occur, not Major Homes. I have every letter that was sent to the customer and also lots of pictures and also lots of pages of texts saying the same thing in each of the letters I personally sent.
