This letter is in response to your comunication dated August 19, regarding Complaint [redacted] in which the customer reports being charged an additional 15% on their bill.Due to the volume of customers we serve daily, we do not recall this specific instanceHowever, based on the percentage it sounds like this amount may be the suggested gratuityThis amount is optional and the customer is not required to pay itIf the customer pays with a credit card, the total amount they write on the credit slip is the amount we charge and that same handwritten amount is the amount that will show on their monthly bank statement.We are a Chinese restaurant meaning all the employees speak Cantonese and their English understanding is not greatMaybe there was a miscommunication and the customer thought the suggested gratuity amount was required? We aim to please our customers and are sorry for any miscommunication that occurred.We are happy to refund the customer if they are able to prove the wrong amount chargedIf the customer paid by card, they can provide a copy of the original charge slip and a copy of the charge on their bank statement and we will be happy to refund the 15% overchargeIf they paid by cash, we will need to know the date, time, and amount of the check and they can provide a copy of the receipt so we can track down the exact guest check to refund the 15% overchargeIf they are able to provide this, we will process their request promptly.Sincerely,Casey K***
