Laura contacted me regarding sending her dog here for boot campAt the time she enrolled him she stated that she was a student and didn’t have time to train himShe wanted our services to work on his basic obedience skills(this is what we excel in.) I am not a behaviorist and I do not claim to be able to help dogs that show aggression towards people or dogsWhat boot camp is good for (as stated right on my webpage) is helping busy people teach their dog basic skills so they have have a great family companionWe only take dogs per trainer so we can give dogs lots of training time during the day. When she contacted me, she stated that he did have a habit of barking and pulling toward other dogs while on a leash but she felt he “was excited to see them and just wanted to play”.We do sometime see this with over exuberant dogsOnce they get close they are friendly and show very soft/friendly body languageShe assured me that he was not aggressive towards other dogs as we don’t work with dog aggressive dogs(see a copy of the enrollment form where we tell clients that we do not work with dog aggressive dogs)The environment here is not suited for that type of training and they need to work with a behavioristI suggested to her at that time that that she have a behavioral assessment done just to make sure and gave her the name of someone I felt was a good fit to helpShe insisted that he was not aggressive just wanted to see other dogsThere was no mention at that time of him being on medicationHad she told me that at the time I would have made her aware that a side effect of Prozac in dogs in irritabilityDogs that are on that type of medication need to be supervised by a behaviorist before basic training can occur. When he arrived we put him out in our alleywayA foot wide foot long area that is next to the dog play yardThis allows for dogs to settle into our space before being introduced to the other dogsYou will see this same set up at doggie daycares and other places where new dogs are arrivingIt’s a common way to introduce dogs into play.At that time there were approximately dogs in the 50xdog yard. There was some barking as does happen when dogs get excited at new people and dogs arriving but all in all it was fairly calm. Most dogs that are “happy to greet other dogs” (as she claims he was) would have barked at the fence but their body language would have been soft and wigglyHe was very stiff his tail held over his backHe proceeded to grab the chain link fence with his teeth, bending it and trying to chew through it to get at the other dogs.Given his body language and actions, he was not a dog that I would have allowed to interact with the other dogs (for their safety and his) at that timeShe insisted that he was not aggressive and that he wanted to say hi (although his actions said otherwise) so my compromise was to ask her to take him home and have a behavioral evaluation done on him by a certified canine behavioristOnce that was completed I would either take him back for training (giving the assurance from a behaviorist that he was in fact “just wanting to say hi”) orif the behaviorist determined he was not a candidate for the boot camp environment I would refund her deposit at that time.To ensure that spots are filled we hold a $deposit for clients wanting to send their dog to training.Since its hard to fill spots at the last minute our policy, as it states on my enrollment form, is that a deposit is only refundable if canceled days prior to the start date.Because of the nature of this dogs aggression I was willing to make an exception to that policy if she was at least willing to work with someone that could help the two of them.As of this date she has not provided me with any statement from a certified dog behaviorist or otherwise that she worked with. She did post a poor review on my facebook pageTo which I responded (as I have here) with the factsI asked for feed back from my clients as to their thoughts on having a dog here that displayed such behaviorThe overwhelming response was to thank me for NOT taking the dog right away but suggesting to her that she needed very specific help in working with his issues.I hope this helps shed light on this issueI’ve attached a copy of my enrollment form so you can read it yourself.Let me know if you have any further questions.*** *** *** *** ***

In reference to a complaint that was filed with the Revdex.com I received a letter with the ID ***.I have been out of town for the last weeks and am finally starting to get caught up on my communicationsI will draft a reply to this complaint this week and send it off to you.I just wanted to let
you know I wasn't ignoring it

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Ms. [redacted]’s version of our conversations and what transpired is not at all accurate.  I was very clear in my communications with her regarding the reasons I was seeking her help with training and it wasn’t because I didn’t have the time to do basic training with him.  I had already participated in various training courses with him prior to contacting her.  I was asking for her help because the training I had already done was not helping with his reactivity towards other dogs and I didn’t have the necessary knowledge.  I was very transparent from the beginning regarding what I was looking for and the facts about my dog.  As the attached E-mail shows, I informed her from the very beginning that my dog was taking Prozac for anxiety.  Her claim that I didn’t tell her is completely false.  She was aware and she never discussed it with me and never expressed any concern.  She wanted me to enroll so she could get the $200 deposit. My dog’s reaction to the situation she threw him into as soon as we got to her place was out of fear.  A chain link fence between my dog and several other dogs, 10-12 rather than the 6 Ms. [redacted] claims were there, was not enough reassurance to an anxious dog.  As soon as she saw how he was reacting to the situation, I was told he couldn’t stay.  I was in such shock after witnessing the incredibly poor way she introduced him to that many dogs that I was speechless and I certainly never tried to reassure her so she would allow him to stay.  At that point, it was clear she was not qualified to train my dog.  She did tell me if a behaviorist evaluated him and determined he was not a candidate for her training she would refund my $200 deposit.  However, where was that requirement documented?  It’s not stated anywhere on her website that a behaviorist might need to do an evaluation.  It wasn’t in the enrollment form I signed.  I’ve attached the enrollment form I signed.  The form she sent has been revised since I enrolled my dog.   It never came up in any conversation I had with her prior to the day I brought him.  If it’s possible that a refund is contingent upon an evaluation by a behaviorist, it should be documented somewhere.   I complied with the agreement I signed.  I did not cancel within 7 days of the start date.  She cancelled the training.  Her requirement that a behaviorist has to determine he’s not a candidate for her training before she refunds my money is unrealistic.  I spoke to veterinarians, trainers, and one behaviorist who all agreed that my description of the way my dog was introduced to so many dogs at once was incorrect, but none of them know anything about her or her training program so how can they make a judgement about whether her program is appropriate for my dog? Attached is a screen print of her Facebook post that she posted after I submitted a negative review.  It’s clear from the post, she was not just asking for constructive feedback.  She wasn’t even honest in the posting where she states I was mad because she wouldn’t train my dog.  I was mad because she wouldn’t return my deposit.   She knew what was going to happen when she posted that request.  There was nothing constructive in the comments posted by her friends.  Many were quite offensive and while these comments were getting posted, she never once asked any of them to keep it respectful and she never once tried to put a stop to it.  In fact, she “liked” most of the offensive postings.  What type of professional business person launches a bullying campaign on Facebook because of a negative review?  Regards,
Laura [redacted]
