Review: I have never subscribed to this magazine or received this magazine.

Forbes subscription service claims that I responded to an offer to purchase 12 issues of their magazine and I did not. They claim that they began sending me issues and extended me credit. I have never received or read an issue of Forbes. They claim that I have received multiple bills and I have not. They ask that I contact them but they do not provide a phone number, email address or even a website so I can resolve this with customer service. Just a PO Box which does not seem to exist. These are unseemly sales tactics and I do not take it lightly when my credit rating is threatened.Desired Settlement: Cease and desist. Do not ever contact me or threaten me again.

Response:

Thank you very much for bringing this situation to our attention. Our records indicate that we received a subscription order, via the internet, on 10/**/13. The order was 12 issues for $12. Additionally, the order was on file as [redacted], with no last name.

Please be advised that this subscription was cancelled on 3/*/14 at 1:11 pm. [redacted] should disregard it should she receive one additional billing effort.

Thank you again.

Review: Forbes tricks people into subscribing to their magazine online when signing up to comment on their website..

I signed up to comment on an article on their website and forbes pre checked a box that made me "agree to receive free issues of forbes magazine". I soon get an email that says I owe 12 dollars for a years worth of magazines, I replied to the email link to cancel the transaction. No response. I got a bill in the mail charging me as well. The provide no phone number to call them on their bill. They are using shady tactics to get subscribers and make it diffidcult to opt out or cancel.Desired Settlement: I want them to cancel my subscription I never wanted and I want them to fix their shady practices on tricking people into subscribing. You are not going to make any customers like that. More than likely you will just give yourself a bad name..

Response:

Please be advised that [redacted]' subscription was cancelled on January **, 2014. The subscription, 12 issues for $12.00, was ordered online on December **, 2013. Should [redacted] receive one additional invoice, he may disregard it.

Thank you very much.

Review: I accepted a trail issue of Forbes Magazine and upon doing so was instructed to, if I did not desire to continue with an actual subscription of Forbes Magazine, return the initial bill with the words "CANCEL" on the outside of the envelope. I did as was instructed after the bill came as I did not wish to sign up for a subscription but have since been HARASSED with multiple threatening email and letters demanding payment. I have sent emails, replied to emails, send/returned letters but to no avail. After reading up on this issue that several others have had I have concluded that this was an online SCAM by the company attempting to force people into payments and unwanted subscriptions.Desired Settlement: Cancel the subscription that I did NOT sign up for and stop sending bills.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved on the conditions that the subscription that I did not request has in fact been cancelled and that I will also no longer receive bills or harassing letters via postal mail and/or email.

Sincerely,

Review: Pinnacle Consulting Group, Inc. purchased online advertising from Forbes Media on 09/**/2012 for the period of 10/*-12/* 2012. The advertising cost was $4,000.00 for 444,444 impressions. Pinnacle was notified in February of 2013 by our marketing/branding company (who established the relationship with Forbes Media) that Pinnacle would be issued a refund for 120,539 unused impressions. We were to receive a check for a little over $1,000.00 for the 120,539 impressions that were not served. To date, I have made numerous inquiries with regard to the status of the refund; all to no avail. Al I get in response to my emails is an automated reply saying, "Thank you for contacting the Accounts Payable Department. Your email is very important to us, and we will reply within 5 business days", which has yet to happen.Desired Settlement: Pinnacle would be satisfied with a full refund of monies owed.

Business

Response:

Thanks you very much for bringing this matter to our attention. Please be advised that this refund has been approved for payment, which Pinnacle Consulting should be receiving very shortly.

Thank you.

Review: I have been receiving invoices for a subscription that I never signed up for. I sent back an invoice with a note explaining that I never signed up for a subscription and to cancel it, but they are still sending me bills.Desired Settlement: They need to stop sending me bills.

Review: I signed up for a trial issue and did not realize that I would be automatically renewed with a year subscription. There was no billing information provided at signup and I assumed this was a true trial. I was not at the same residence for some time after receiving the first issue and deciding not to subscribe and therefore did not receive the multiple past due invoices for months. This marketing is deceptive and the company has started using scare tactics to get me to pay the invoice to avoid being sent to their collections agency as a "delinquent account". All of this crap for a $30 subscription against my will! I am paying the invoice today as I am fully aware that this was my fault for trusting the company and not reading all of the fine print. I'm very dissatisfied with the experience and Forbes has certainly lost one young adult reader that for the cheap revenue of $30.Desired Settlement: Stop contacting me, do not auto-renew at the end of this term.

Business

Response:

Thank you for forwarding [redacted]s complaint to our attention. We're terribly sorry that he is unhappy with Forbes.

Our records indicate that [redacted] responded to an online offer for 26 issues for $29.99, with two free trial issues. We did not send a renewal effort rather, we sent an invoice for the remaining 24 issues of the subscription.

Additionally, the language on the online offer reads as follows: "If you like Forbes, you'll receive 24 more issues (26 total) for only $29.99. You save 81% off the newsstand price. Satisfaction guaranteed: If you decide Forbes isn't for you, write cancel on the bill that you will receive, return it and owe nothing. The free trail issue is your to keep."

I trust this clears up any confusion.

Review: A couple of weeks ago, I tried to place an order on Forbes website where it indicated that 26 Business Magazines will be offered for 26 Canadian Dollars. Looking at the advertisement, I tried to place an order however for some reason my payment gateway did not complete the order and I dropped the intent of pursuing the order. I did not click "Bill me Later" while trying to subscribe and thought that the order or contract has not been valid and hence not effective.

A week ago from today i.e ** Nov 2014, I received a Forbes Magazine in post with an invoice to be settled for 33.34 Canadian Dollars. I immediately wrote an email to [redacted] on** Nov 2014 asking about the delivery for an order that I did not complete and asked them to immediately stop sending me any further copies and cancel my order in addition. Todate, I have not received a response from the customer service and I received yet another copy without any resolution in sight.

I did not complete this order so this order is deemed invalid and on top of that, the price mentioned in the original advertisement is different from what was on the invoice. This is a questionable activity where Forbes fails to respond to urgent emails and ships orders without any payment confirmation so as to use collections as a process to increase their subscriptions.Desired Settlement: I want the invoice to be cancelled as I question the validity of the subscription. I also do not want to receive any further copies of this magazine from Forbes any longer.

Review: In good faith and in rough draft summary I state that I conducted an online research regarding "wrongful convictions" in the United States. I came upon a story on [redacted], which I found relevant to my research. Innocently I made three comments, two of which have come back to haunt me because I myself a "survivor" of an illegal conviction, aka, wrongful conviction involving a [redacted]. No where on their website does [redacted] warn or advise of the reality that comments are searchable online by a user's name. For 9+ months I have contacted and tried to reach [redacted] to delete said comments and my user account, including photo. I was ignored for at least 5-6 months. Finally the merchant contacted me and agreed to delete said postings, my photo, and user account. However, repeatedly ever since said information was "reposted" by [redacted] who claims innocence in its reposting despite the fact that the postings reflect the original 9 and 10 months date of the postings. I have called countless times for nearly 10 months only to lose precious and irreplaceable time of my human life being routed by their automated system and to have my voicemails ignored. I have submitted countless emails to various employees of [redacted] responsible for said issues who repeatedly promised me to remedy the issues once and for all. Nevertheless, the postings, my photo, and user account is still active. Moreover, [redacted] is not responding to my emails for weeks. There is no excuse for such discriminatory negligence or to ignore a human being, including regarding a relevant, reasonable, and warranted issue.Desired Settlement: To permanently delete said postings, my photo, and user account, at issue. And a letter or email with a direct point of contact at [redacted] to confirm a permanent remedy to this needless issue that has caused me serious harm. Please.

Business

Response:

Please be advised that I have searched Forbes.com for any mention of [redacted]. I have entered several different variations of his name and have found nothing.

Review: The e-mail didn't have a way to unsubscribe, All it had was a USPS address. I don't have the money for a stamp.Desired Settlement: No more e-mails, phone calls or mailings.

Business

Response:

Unfortunately [redacted] did not indicate which type of email promotion she wishes to unsubscribe from Therefore, I cannot tell whether it was generated by Forbes or another company. Our records indicate that her last subscription order was placed through an independent subscription agent; SUBCO. If the email came from SUBCO, they can reached at ###-###-####. I will notify them as well.

Thank you very much.

Review: Forbes Magazine is a magazine I normally receive through surveyrewards.com and I buy with my points. Forbes magazine charges for they magazine services that was already paid for. They have refused to take there name off of my credit. They have hired an unnecessary [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like 3-years of free subscription, name taken off credit and a $70 dollar check.Updated desired settlement: 23.99 is how much Forbes magazine charged me.

Business

Response:

Our records indicate [redacted] ordered through a third party subscription agent, [redacted], on 2/**/14 and again on 5/**/15. Since they are an independent third party, any refund would need to come directly through them. [redacted] also ordered via the internet, on 4/**/14. This order was cancelled on 11/**/14. There is no refund due, as the subscription was not paid for.I will contact the [redacted] and instruct them to cease payment attempts.Thank you very much.Andrea S[redacted]Fulfillment Manager
