Force Concrete & Framing Reviews (1)

What I am dealing with here is an optometrist and his wife that decided they did not require a builder to construct their house.  With no building experience they decided to do the contracting themselves and with...

incomplete drawings done by an architect who no longer speaks to them.  During the process of framing this house I was repeatedly stopped by the owners for various reasons including the frame being rained on and them telling me to demo the frame and redo it because it got wet. It became apparent that they did not know how to build the house. They hired a firm as the “builder of record” who is quick to tell us he was just there to sign off on the bank documents so the owners could get the money to build the house themselves and save the cost of a real builder. The house plans they provided were incomplete making it difficult to frame. Most of the dimensions for wall location and window sizes are missing. They chose not to hire and pay for a complete plan. Another attempt to cut corners. After a few weeks of completing the work save for the punchlist, and not being paid,  I filed a lien claim affidavit before the statutory timeframe expired. My contract was to provide labor only, not materials.  As of today they still have not provided the correct materials (they are missing steel braces) and a legible inspection report. It has also been brought to my attention that after several months they realized that they could not build this house and are now looking to hire a builder. The reason there was no response to their punch list is because they were long past due on making a payment. I fully plan to finish the punch list, as soon as I am given the report and materials,  and  arrangements are made to pay me.   At this point the [redacted]'s balance is just over $31000.00. They have agreed to make payment and failed to follow through. So from multiple delays due to lack of experience and failure to pay I have hired an attorney to assist me in recovering the invoice amount.   My llc is in good standing and all taxes are paid. It was only a missing form that had it on hold.  However, that is irrelavant to the issue at hand.  That is they should stick to what they know, optometry, and leave the building to professionals.
