Statement from the Service Manager, ***
As per our earlier conversation I got involved with customer when she was demanding a new battery for her vehicle that was purchased from an individual who originally purchased the battery. Ms. did not have any paperwork showing the purchase of the battery but insisted that it be replaced because where she previously had repairs done that did not rectify her problem told her the battery was faulty. It had grease pencil writing on it. After trying to explain that the battery needed to be checked and the proper paperwork was also needed, she was very boisterous calling the whole staff here incompetent using fowl choice words and stated it was leaking all over the back of her vehicle where she had placed it. I looked at the battery which at that time showed no leaks or that any leakage was present. I explained to her unless she had the documentation, I could not go any further which she proceeded to call the dealer in Ft. Walton Beach and gave them her V.I.N # to have them show history since she said all previous work was done there by the previous owner. At that time, she had them on speaker phone and when the advisor came back on, he told her the vehicle had never been in their dealership. Ms. did not respond on just hung up on him. I offered numerous times to check her battery which she declined. She let me know she was unhappy about me just not handing her a new battery and l asked her what battery was in the vehicle now and she stated it was a loaner battery from a local parts house. After questioning her on contacting the previous owner to see where they purchased the battery, she was very *** with me and said her lawyer was trying to find her because she had ripped her off on the sale. The vehicle had been attempted to be repaired by someone else before it was towed into us. The state and battery were replaced but the vehicle still did not start. We diagnosed as a key transponder module and replaced it. The vehicle started fine. Since then Ms. has called stating the vehicle would not start. We even had it towed in and found no problem. She has called at least once a week since repairs were completed stating the vehicle would not start but would drive the vehicle to the shop where nothing could be found. She has stated someone else is working on the vehicle and says since the theft light is on it has to be the same part. There are other components to the system and just like the battery that actually tested good by the way should be replaced and her incur no further fees to repair her vehicle. She has call and has been rude to every single employee she has spoken with. She has used foul language that even makes me blush at times to the point *** has even spoken to and finally after her verbal assault on him he told her to leave and never come back. She still continues to call and harass any employee that answers the phone. I have told her there is nothing l can do for her since her eviction from the premises so she calls other people at our dealership demanding we replace the module that she says is bad. I am a very patient person but my patients have even worn out with her. She bought a vehicle that was not taken care of and has blamed anyone who looks at it wanting it fixed for nothing. I feel we have honestly tried to work with her early on but she wants things done her way.

I purchased a 2014 Ford F350 Platinum 4x4 truck from Hub city Ford with 55,611 miles on it. Took it for test drive straight down the road and back to dealership. I told the salesman-*** it didn't handle as well as it should and it was probably the bald tires on it. Worked up a deal and new tires were include, but had to return the next day because the tires "were not in stock". They had to special order (brand they don't carry). Went next day and tires did not make delivery so had to go back Friday. I told *** and *** (service rep) of the steering issue I had, and they said they'd evaluate it and make it right. They supposedly ran an analysis and could not see it, took it for test drive down and back and did not see it. After long conversation I went home we had to be in Montgomery the next couple days. In driving there the problem really showed as we went around turns and exit ramps. When I returned to Pensacola, I took it to word Ford as they are in town and nearby. Talked to *** senior service rep, on problem. They test drove and did an analysis and discovered the steering gear not getting FWD. Told me to take it back to Hub city Ford since I just bought it and have them repair it. Took it same day (9-27)and they reran analysis and still "did not see or feel anything". I told them it was like a nascar driver fighti8ng the wheel in a race. ***'s solution was to buy an extended warranty because trucks this old and this many miles will have problems. I told him its a 2014 and only has 56,000 miles, not even broke in, and that by buying a warranty would be no money out of your pocket. I told him the vehicle was unsafe to drive and told him of World Fords findings and price and he said he could beat their price. I told him I'd have World Ford repair it because I trusted them and they would accurately repair whats wrong. The did at a cost of $1686.10. I also, had to get the tires (cheap) treed because all four were out of round. That was a cost of $172 all I'm asking for is Hub City stand behind the product they sold me and reimburse me the monies out of pocket. (Carfax showed power steering was flushed )!! I don't know what they did to prep this truck for sale but it was almost our of exhaust FWD, was dirty, windshield washer does not work, interior filthy, needed air filter!

Desired Outcome

reimbursement of $1,858.10 ($1,686.10 + $172.00)

Ford Crestview Response

All vehicles sold by Our dealership have gone though the service dept for a full safety inspection. This vehicle passed. He was offered a full warranty at time of purchase which he declined. He purchased the truck knowing it was as is. WITHOUT WARRANTY. He drove the truck. Found no problems with it except for he wanted new tires. We put new tires on it at his request. It satisfied his needs to purchase the truck. About a week after his purchase he complained about the steering on the truck. Our service dept found no problems. Again he complained of steering issues with the truck. Our service dept found a slightly loose steering box. Advised what it would cost to fix. He chose to have it repaired by world *** in Pensacola. He was offered a full warranty with this truck at the purchase of it. He declined. And he signed a buyers guide stating it is AS/IS and WITHOUT WARRANTY. We have done everything we can to satisfy mr ***. We cannot refund mr *** for his expenses related to the repairs made to his truck. We have complied with all laws. We have not misled or misrepresented at any time. Please call me @ 850.682.2721 if you have any questions. Thank you

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In response to the Hub City reply dated 11/03/2017
Fisrt of all let me say I do not like it when people say untruths.
I test drove the truck from the dealership up the road and back and noted to the salesman that it didn't feel right and it was probably the tires that were worn. They were original and had almost 60,000 miles on them. I didn't want to pay almost $47,000 for a truck with worn tires - period. The test drive was straight up the road and back and only turns were in the medians so you couldn't "feel" the steering issue then. We made the deal and tires were included, however they went out of their way to get the cheapest tire for that truck. I was sent home since they had to "order" the tires and to come back the next day. On my return the next day, I told the salesman *** of the issue - even showed him that the Carfax showed the steering pump was drained/cleaned, which shows an issue - and he said he'd have the service department look at it as they installed the tires. They did not come in on the delivery truck that day so I had to come back a third day for tires - what a run around. They didn't carry that brand and supposedly no tire dealer in town (Crestview) had that size tire - which was hard to believe - not even *** The third day the tires finally came in and *** and the service lady would look at the steering issue because they wanted to "satisfy" me, the customer. They even admitted in their response their service department found "a slightly loose steering box". Well what does slightly or loose mean to them ??? I guess their analysis system does not work the same as the one at World ***, in fact I never received a copy of the Hub City report but did get a three page analysis from World ***! The service rep was appalled that Hub City would even put a vehicle in this condition on the lot for sale, let alone jeopardize the safety of a customer! All they wanted to do was sell me an extended warranty because that way there's no money out of their pocket. They obviously believe in max profit and no out of pocket expenses !! They did NOT do EVERYTHING they could to satisfy me or why would I even bring this issue up. They are not a reputable dealer, lack integrity and do not know what customer service means. I will continue to have my truck serviced at World *** because I know I can TRUST them to repair what is needed in order to have my truck in a safe and working condition. World *** is a highly reputable dealer, honest and integrity shows - words Hub City cannot use. They twisted the story for their needs but I expected this type of response. I'm sure they have complied by all Florida laws to cover themselves but misrepresent the vehicle.
Thanks for your assistance with my complaint and will never use Hub City for anything!
