Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/01/13) */
January 13, 2016
We have received the complaint for case# [redacted] regarding service work completed by Ford of Hibbing. On November 13 2015, we serviced the Ford F250 for customer complaints of running rough, excessive smoke and no power...

until truck warms up. The mechanic checked for codes none were found. He performed an EEC test and a power balance injector test with only 1 injector failing (#8 injector). Checked Oasis which recommended the #8 failing injector to be replaced. He removed and replaced injector #8 and test drove the vehicle to verify the issue had been resolved. No other issues were found with any other injectors at this time.
On November 27 2015, we serviced the truck for customer complaints of vehicle starts up good, but then dies after a while with heavy exhaust smoke, then the truck runs okay after being warmed up. The mechanic checked for codes and none were found. He performed KOER test. He also performed a glow plug test with a scan tool, as well as manually measured them with an OHM meter. All passed and Ohm read .02 which is within specifications. The mechanic parked the truck outside overnight to test cold start. Upon startup of truck it was running rough. The mechanic unplugged each injector one at a time to test again and found leaking on injectors #1, #2, #4 and #7. Recommend replacing all remaining injectors. Customer was informed of findings and approved only the seals to be replaced on all remaining injectors. We Replaced seals and removed glow plugs to verify no oil was in the cylinders. The truck was test drove by the mechanic and it ran good. Truck was parked outside overnight to test cold start again and it ran good in the morning.
We had worked with the customer on the labor charges at the time the repairs were done. There were no issues with leaking injectors on the first service date. We would not recommend replacing injectors and/or seals without an issue being present at that time.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2016/01/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Ford said they worked with the labor charges of $120 or so off the initial bill at that time and that was the best they could do? My husband said at least the truck is running good now, we just wish it was running right the first time. Thanks for looking into this...I was hoping Ford could of did a little better with the adjustment of the bill.
