Foreign Traffic Inc Reviews (3)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Foreign Traffic replaced the entire dashboard cluster at considerable cost and the vehicle had less than 100 miles on it when returned to their shop. This was a secondary vehicle that was rarely driven and it therefore took some time to discover the defect. It was discovered when the car ran out of gas with the fuel gauge showing a half tank. While the speedometer portion of the replacement unit did in fact work, it is the non-functional fuel gauge that created a new problem - which is more severe -  that I didn't have before. I am now faced with either placing the old unit back into the vehicle because a non-working speedometer is less critical than a non-working fuel gauge or purchasing and paying for install on an aftermarket fuel gauge.  The lack of warranty was not clearly disclosed and I paid with my credit card over the phone so there was no opportunity to actually view their invoices(s) until I picked up the vehicle after hours. For what they charged me, the unit (used or new) should have been fully tested before being release to me. Also, if the risk of a non-working unit was that significant I should have been sufficiently warned. I would not have taken a gamble with a cost of that magnitude. I ask that you please view the situation from my perspective, examine what I was charged and consider that I essentially bought myself a larger problem due to negligence. If their vendor will not stand behind a dashboard module with less than 100 miles on it Foreign Traffic should pursue the issue with them. Please understand that I find it to be very unfair that I must pay the price for a poor agreement between Foreign Traffic and their vendor for something that was clearly SOLD DEFECTIVE out of the box. If I was the one running the business I would take care of this matter. Thank you for reading and I hope that this helps to clarify. Any help that you can give would be GREATLY appreciated.
Regards,

I apologize for not having responded to this complaint sooner, but I have just returned from a week and a half in [redacted], due to a bereavement.Mr. [redacted] had his 87 BMW 325 1C at Foreign Traffic for service on two occasions, both invoices l am enclosing here with and have highlighted the operations...

involving the speedometer. The speedometer needed to be replaced and he was given the option of replacing it with either a new or used part. He was told that the warranty on the used part was 60 days and he decided on that option. We never heard any more from him about any complaint on the speedometer until March of this year, at which time it was too late for us to obtain any consideration from our vendor, and he was informed of this, and told that his warranty had expired.                     It would appear that in the meantime he sold the car to [redacted] who subsequently had the car serviced at our shop on April 6 of this year, a copy of that invoice I have also included, which indicates no problem with the speedometer, and you will note from the mileage recorded from the replacement speedometer, the car was driven 198 miles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 I feel that Mr. [redacted]'s claim for a full refund for replacing the speedometer is without merit, however I am prepared to accept your recommendation in arbitrating this claim. Please let me know what you feel we should do to settle this dispute, based on the information presented by both parties.Yours faithfully,[redacted]Pres. Foreign Traffic Inc

Review: In September of 2014, I was sold a dashboard cluster (module that contains speedometer/odometer, fuel gauge, etc). It was defective from the date of installation and they have refused to repair or replace the module.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund on this piece. My original unit worked better than the replacement.
