Dear Ms. [redacted]: We are in receipt of your letter to us dated August 4, 2016, regarding the complaint filed by the above•referenced...

individual. Ms. [redacted], in her complaint, questioned why her marker has yet to be installed on the grave site. After our review of the file, we hereby state the following. The file contained a note stating that Ms. [redacted] did not want her marker placed until the time of need. Unfortunately, the administrator at the cemetery is no longer employed with us and we have no way to verify the authenticity of the note. However, we are aware that Ms. [redacted] does want her marker installed now and we have ordered said marker with an estimated ship date of mid-September. Upon receipt of the marker, we will immediately install it and notify Ms. [redacted]. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to you in this matter. If we can be of any further assistance to you in this matter, please let us know. Sincerely, Toni F[redacted] Compliance Manager

Review: In Feb. 2016 after the death of my spouse, I ordered and paid in full for two ledgers. I specifically noted upon purchase that I was ordering both because it was important that the stone matched. Several months went by and I did not see my spouses marker appear and I contacted cemetery. I was given some song and dance routine about the employee being new and "overwhelmed". Several more weeks went by and I went there to inquire in person. Given reasons about needing to verify proof. Did that for both ledgers. After making complaint in person, my spouses ledger arrived in a couple of weeks. I still haven't seen mine. When my spouses ledger was placed I again indicated that both needed to be cut at the same time so as to match. It is now Aug 2016 and my ledger isn't there. When I inquired this week I am told there was confusion about waiting for mine until I was deceased. I challenged this as my instructions were very clear. I demanded to speak to the Board of Directors and I have gotten no reply. Forest Lawn has not performed as agreed, has not produced the product, and has profited by achieving interest on the money I paid six months ago.Desired Settlement: I want my order delivered and I want the money I am out in interest on the amount I paid for the past six months.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The information in the "offer" from the cemetery is utter fabrication. At the time of purchase, I purchased one for my recently deceased spouse and one for myself. I made the point, in front of a witness, that I was told that in order for the stone to match both needed to be cut at the same time. It took an inordinately long period of time to get my wife's ledger there as well. I called to check every few weeks. I was given a rash of various reasons as to why it had not been done. These ranged from one employee telling me that she was overwhelmed, to you need to approve the design, with multiple designs sent, all of which I approved timely. When my wife's ledger finally did arrive I asked again where my ledger was. I made the point of again saying that they needed to be cut at the same time in order to match. I told the rep that we would have a big problem if they did not match. I was told that my ledger was on order. Obviously this is not true. I checked back in a few weeks to update that status and was told it was in fact ordered. I told the rep that I didn't think that is was fair that they are allowed to keep my money and derive the interest from it while I waited for months. I was given some lame half answer about how it wasn't costing me anything additional. The last time I called to check on the status, immediately before I filed this complaint, only then was I told that there "must be some confusion" in that the cemetery thought I wanted mine placed when I died. I sent back an email and told them this was absolute "crap". I demanded to speak to someone on the board of directors and I received no reply and was told twice that I could not be given the contact information for the board members. Below is an excerpt from an emails from and to Amy [redacted]. I do not appreciate misrepresentation and outright lies. There is no "offer" to consider, just another promise that what I ordered is on the way. I REJECT IT.

Review: I paid for a head stone to be placed on my fathers grave and being he was in the military, the military will supply the headstone but I had to pay for the marble base and provide the cemetery with documents from the military which I did a year ago. I was told by heather that a temporary marker would be put there until the permanent marker was made and that she would contact me and even text me photos when completed. None of this has ever happened and here I am exactly a year later....still nothing but excuses and no head stone.Desired Settlement: I want the grave marker which I paid for over a year ago to be installed.
