Dear Mrs[redacted] , Thank you for your message I'm sorry your daughter feels like she was treated unfairly with her car being towed Please know and understand we follow rules that are given to us as most people and employees do If there is a vehicle with no pass, or valid guest pass, we are required to remove the vehicle and cannot assume any one is a valid tenant This is something the District monitors, as they are who can validate who their parking tenants are It is a security and confidentiality issue to seek out owners of vehicles and also irresponsible to pick and choose which cars are and aren't in violation We also take other precautions to ensure your security as well as ours, and are happy to communicate that to you or your daughter if you would like Our phone numbers are on each and every sign throughout the lot for your convenience Had she informed the District managers of her sticker being stolen, they would have communicated that to us and we would have worked with her Communication is definitely I gladly would have given different options had you (or your daughter) would have explained your situation to either myself or the District manager We understand mishaps happen all the time, but if we let every one go with just telling us their pass got stolen, every one would do the same and assume they can get away with breaking the rules Again, I want to reiterate, we follow rules and are contracted like most subcontractors We don't make up rules and all of our prices are mandated by the State of Colorado Please contact me if you have any questionsKindly, Don, Owner Fort Collins Towing

The rudest people I have ever dealt with in any sort of company in my entire life! They towed my husbands truck and the only reason we knew is because someone saw it happen otherwise we would have assumed that it was stolenThen once someone finally answered the phone the guy couldn't explain to us where they were located he just kept giving us the address over and over which wouldn't pull up in the gps and he was extremely rude! Then stated that it's not his problem and he would have to see if he could get someone to release the vehicle to usOnce they showed up they did not even acknowledge us and we're just continuing having horrible customer service

Mrs. [redacted],Thank you for your email.  I am happy you have been issued a new tag for your daughters car.  We have photos of your vehicle entering the parking lot without the parking tag, therefore it is undetermined how or who or if your tag was stolen.  Please call our main phone line if you have any questions or concerns but at this moment with the given circumstances we cannot provide you with a refund.  Thank you,Don

I am rejecting this response because: My daughter was unaware that the parking tag had been removed from her car. Unfortunately, she does not have the spare time to check her rear window every hour or so. She was home on Saturday, and went to dinner before parking at the District. Her and her father both saw the tag affixed to her window that evening. By time the car was towed early Sunday morning, the tag was obviously missing. She was not able to notify the District, as it happened while she was sleeping, and their offices were closed. We pay $55 a month for her to park "safely" in the garage at the District. She has had the same vehicle for the 2 years she's lived there. Fort Collins Towing works as an "agent" of the District, and is accountable for any decisions they make on the Districts behalf. Under the circumstances, we strongly feel that this money should be refunded by Fort Collins Towing. I would think their drivers police the area often, and have seen my daughters car on hundreds of occasions during the past 2 years. After all, it is probably the only red Mercedes consistently parked there. We've paid in excess of $1100 for parking privileges at the District. What are we paying for? So that if a parking tag is stolen or removed without her knowledge, the car will be immediately towed? Your stringent rules seem a little ridiculous in this case.

Mrs. [redacted],
Thank you for your email.
Thank you,

Did she notify the District at all?  Are they aware she no longer has a parking pass?
If we act as an "agent" for the District, they can verify with us if she is a valid parking tenant or not.  We hope you understand that with various lots, it is nearly impossible to remember every single car in every lot that we monitor and know their status in the building they reside in.  Yes, there is parking fees; as in every area in Fort Collins and to insure her security as well as a parking spot in that lot. We are required to tow any vehicle that does not have a valid pass and the prices are regulated and enforced by the state of Colorado.  If the pass is stolen and the District is notified, we can be notified through the District as well as through you, the tenants and we can work with you.  It is unfortunate that you believe her car was immediately towed, we monitor the lot sporadically.
I would like to apologize if you feel her car was towed unfairly.  If you would like to contact the District and notify them of her pass being stolen we would be happy to see what it is we can help with, upon their verification that this car is a valid parking tenant there.  If passes are monitored, maybe we can find the person who stole it and is using the pass illegally.  Or a friend didn't accidentally use it that is not a resident at the District.  There can be a million scenarios and we want to make sure we are assisting in the most proper, efficient manner.
Our stringent rules are a security issue not only for your daughter, but for the entire community that we monitor.  As unforeseen accidents occur, we work with each person on a case by case matter and are happy to assist in any way we can.  Please contact the District Manager and let her know your pass was stolen so this does not happen again.
Thank you!
Don

Had she informed the District managers of her sticker being stolen, they would have communicated that to us and we would have worked with her.  Communication is definitely.  I gladly would have given different options had you (or your daughter) would have explained your situation to either myself or the District manager.
We understand mishaps happen all the time, but if we let every one go with just telling us their pass got stolen, every one would do the same and assume they can get away with breaking the rules.

Great staff very helpful!

My car got towed from a private property parking lot when I had a parking pass. I informed the workers of this and they did not care. After I got my car out and paid $268 for their mistake, I called to speak to the manager. Apparently he was the one who towed my car and said that I didn't say anything about a parking pass and there was nothing they could do to reimburse me. HIGHLY disappointed in this [redacted] of a company.
