David H does reasonable work but there were a number of other problems. He bought the wrong size vanity cabinets twice. And he made me eat the cost! The first time I even texted him the correct size we needed which shouldn't matter anyway because he is responsible for measuring in the first place. He would claim I had said things which I never had and get his worker to back him up - but some of what he would say was insane. He has inappropriate boundaries and it was at times very uncomfortable having him in the house. I came home one day with groceries and he wanted to know what I had bought. He didn't seem to understand that he wasn't staying for dinner - he isn't a family member or even a friend. He doesn't seem to understand that our relationship is as employer/employee. He submitted additional bills for work that were clearly included with the contract. Also if this was an issue he never said anything at the time - or even suggested it was outside the scope of the original bid. He left a mess in our house every single day he came and would track drywall dust from one end of the house to the other. He never covered the counter tops or tub with paper while he did mud work. He preformed work in such a way that it demonstrated that he was unfamiliar with the correct order that work should be carried out. On at least three occasions he was driving by my house and came to our door to ask to use our toilet - who does that? He took over 10 weeks to complete a small bathroom. At one point he came to our house high on painkillers and that was for an entire week. Early on, I gave him a key to the house in case I wasn't home and I asked him to text me when he was on his way. He not only did not ever text me - he didn't even bother to knock on the door. I finally had to tell him that I could be in some stage of undress in my own home and to please knock on the door and give us enough time to come to the door. The whirlpool tub isn't working and the valve that controls water temperature is set too low to take a bath or shower so I'll have to hire someone to fix that. His final bill included an additional costs for 2400 plus tax all of which were included in the original bid.
