*** showed me the machine they use to electronically assess an air conditioner system, which I believe is the same machine referred to in Foster's letter Let's just close this case because I'm tired of reading Foster's excuses

Foster's reply ignores the fact that my air conditioner has worked fine for two trips covering nearly a 1,miles in warm weather. Indeed, it continues work just fine. If the air conditioner was leaking, as Foster's insists, it would have shown evidence of that by now (note it was charged with Feron in Feb2016---it is now July). As far as I'm concerned Foster's simply does not want to admit that they misdiagnosed the problem. As far as their comment about ***'s Service Center, all I can say is at least ***'s is honest and competent

I apologize for not making myself clearPerhaps a more technical approach will help Mr***understand he received the service he paid for*** Service Center, Inc(***s) confirmed our diagnosisof a refrigerant leak and added refrigerant to the system without addressing the leakMr***declined to have Foster's Truck & Trailer, Inc(Foster's) perform the repairsMr*** was only billedfor the diagnostics.Mr***'s Ford Fchassis air conditioning system is designed to pump refrigerant (R134a)through the air conditioning system to cool the evaporator and take the humidity out of the air in thecab of the recreational vehicleThe system is not designed to lose or consume refrigerantSo therefrigerant that was installed at the factory should remain in the system until a component failureoccurs, or the system is evacuated for repairs.Once a component failure occurs, such as, the air conditioning compressor front seal starts leaking, thesystem will lose refrigerant and the air conditioning compressor will start cycling on and offEventually, with enough refrigerant loss, the air conditioning compressor will not come on and pump refrigerant.Since we know you cannot see the front seal (pictures of the air conditioning compressor are attached)with the compressor pulley installed, Foster's uses an electronic refrigerant leak detector, not die, tocheck for refrigerant leaksThe electronic refrigerant leak detector sniffs for R134a and when it detectsa leak an audible alarm goes off, The other leak detection method used today is where you put dye intothe air conditioning system and use a black light to look for traces of the dyeThe dye method is onlyeffective if you can see the area where the leak is coming fromSince you cannot see the front seal inthe air conditioning compressor, you have to use an electronic leak detector to identify a leak in thisareaSo a very small leak in this area will not be visible using the dye methodIt will take severalmonths for enough leakage to occur to show a trace of dye coming from the front of the compressor.I have seen leaks take several months to leak enough R134a before the air conditioning compressor willnot function properlyDriving the vehicle for a short period of time may not be enough time for thesystem to lose approximately one pound of R134aIn this application when the system losesapproximately one pound of R134a, the compressor will start cycling on and off and the air conditioningsystem will not function properly.***'s added one pound of R134a to the system to bring the refrigerant level back up to where it shouldhave beenThis confirms our diagnosis of a refrigerant leak***'s used dye and found no leaksI wouldexpect this result as you cannot see the leaking seal in the front of the compressorSince adding R134a was the only step taken and the system seems to be working normallyper the customer, the R134a had to leak out of the system to cause the customerplaceSo not finding the leak that we found, and just adding refrigerant to theproblem, it merely masked the problem and the problem is continuing to occurThe system is stillleakingUntil the compressor and drier are replaced, the system will not be repaired properly and thecustomer will continue to have problems with the system over time.In closing we stand behind our diagnosisThe testing method used by *** will only revealareas of visibilityYou cannot see the front of the compressor seal.Mr*** is welcome to schedule an appointment with us to observe the leak testing of hiscompressor with an electronic leak detector at no charge.Sincerely,David FosterPresidentAttachments

Thank you for this opportunity to address Mr***'s concernsUnfortunately, Mr*** did notcontact Foster's Truck & Trailer, Inc(Foster's) directly regarding his discontent with services provided byFoster'sFoster's is not a member of the Revdex.com of Central Ohio IncHowever, we do respond
to theseinquires as a courtesy to our customersPlease be aware there were no attachments, as stated in theCustomer's Statement of the Problem, received with this concern.Mr*** did bring his RV to Foster's in September of I am sorry the time involved in diagnosinghis vehicle problem was not satisfactory to Mr***Unfortunately, due to the volume of repairs weperform, there are jobs in process which must be completed before we can start new jobs.Mr*** brought his RV to Foster's with a complaint of the dash air conditioning is not workingWefound the dash air conditioning was not working due to low Freon chargeThe only reason for lowFreon is a Freon leak in the air conditioning systemWe found a leak at the seal at the front of thecompressorWe quoted replacing the compressor, the receiver dryer and recharging the system withFreonMr*** elected not to do the repairs at that time.Foster's elected not to quote and perform a temporary repair which would have been to recharge theair conditioning system and send Mr*** on his wayGranted a temporary repair will make the airconditioning work until the Freon level drops to the point the compressor will not workThis will causethe air conditioning not to work againThis is not how we do businessWithout finding and fixing theleak any work performed on the system is temporaryNot to mention Freon leaks are damaging to theozoneOur Technician who worked on this vehicle is ASE certified in Heating and Air Conditioning (Copyof certification available upon request)Being certified in air conditioning, our technician understandsrecharging a leaking system is not fixing the problem as the cause of the leak has not been addressed. We stand behind our diagnosis and therefore, are not in a position to present a refund to Mr***.Please let me know if you have any questions or need further information.Sincerely,David FosterPresident
