Foundation Station Inc Reviews (1)

Our Foundation Station Inc. Experience.

We initially met with the company in the summer of 2012 and agreed to go with Foundation Station for our project, (driveway and bordering wall). The job was slated to be done by the end of the summer. Unfortunately, nothing was done during the summer and early fall. At that point Tracey and I told Jason to just wait until the following Spring (2013). My wife has a disability and uses crutches/wheelchair for mobility. Foundation Station knew this and assured us it would be a timely process between when they dug out the old driveway and installed the new one.

At that point Jason said he would be able to get us in that fall (Autumn 2012). He assured us the weather would still be warm enough for the driveway to cure after installation. Foundation Station dug up our old driveway on Oct 23, 2012. Rebar was installed on the driveway on the following day, Oct 24, 2012 which rendered the driveway unusable, and made mobility a real concern for Tracey. We ended up having to wait for more than two weeks for the pouring in spite of the fact that the weather was perfect that week and could have been completed all in one week. I ended up having to lift the rebar so the wheelchair could pass. I called and asked that more stone be delivered at the bottom of the driveway as they had run out when they laid the initial layer. I ended having to go to Home Depot to buy 10 bags of stone so we could use the driveway.

On November 7th the driveway was poured with the wall being built shortly after. We did not use the driveway until the week of December 16th, 2012. We were without use of the driveway for approximately 2 months. We contacted Foundation Station concerning the sealant (Densicrete), and were told it would have to wait until the following Spring, and that we would be first on the list. This caused us great concern as even if you don’t through salt/calcium your car tires can track it onto the driveway.

We spent the entire next year, 2013, waiting for Foundation Station to honor their contract and seal the driveway. Again, nothing was done after repeated calls. A second winter had come and gone during which we suffered major cracks and some degradation of the actual concrete. We were now into 2014. Again more calls and a contract still not honored. Many times when we called we were treated with disrespect even though we were about as understanding as we could be watching a $7000 driveway literally fall apart.

Finally in October 20th, 2014 Jason, the owner, stopped by and power washed our concrete in preparation for the Densicrete sealer. He went a bit further and cleaned and stripped the protections off of our sidewalk and steps stating that color would match better and that they would reseal it when they did the driveway.

Again Foundation Station never showed up, and did not honor their contract. A third winter passed with no sealer on the driveway. During the winter of 2014 further cracking occurred and the whole driveway began peeling away in layers. When shoveling snow I was actually shoveling pieces of the driveway. I was shoveling up all the pieces and saving them to show Foundation Station. Unfortunately, the sidewalk they stripped of sealer also suffered.

Jason, the owner, came out after many calls and mentioned that he thought the degradation was the result of his power washing. During the summer of 2014 Jason had a gentleman from Densicrete come out and evaluate the concrete. It was apparent that Jason had concerns over its integrity. The densicrete gentlemen wrote up a report and sent it to Jason. Jason neglected to share the findings with us.

Fall was upon us again so I decided to call the Densicrete Company and talk the gentlemen that evaluated our driveway. He stated Jason was to send along a copy of his report. He never did. The gentlemen send along a copy himself.

Foundation Station came back yet again on October 20th to power wash the driveway in preparation for the next step, either sealing it or resurfacing it. He taped it off and asked that we not walk or drive on it to prevent any dirt getting into the concrete. Three weeks passed and again we were into November with temperatures cold enough to prevent sealing the driveway.

Over the winter of 2015 a new contract was issued and Foundation Station stated they would replace the driveway, and fix a corner of our porch that had fallen off. On June 23, 2015 our driveway was dug up for a second time. On July 18th, 2015 they came to pour the driveway. Again, we had to wait for an entire month, dealing with a gravel pit and needing to assist my wife with her wheelchair each and every day. We had to put pieces of wood over the gravel to get her in and out. It was a real mess. Before they poured the new driveway they were supposed to pour more stone for the foundation. They never did that so the base on the new driveway was questionable from the start. Unfortunately we developed yet another deep crack across the top slab of the driveway, possibly because of the lack of an adequate foundation. The bordering wall was also leaning significantly.

They just wanted to be done with us at this point and the workmanship was worse than the last time. . This time they did seal right after the pouring, but once again didn’t honor their contract. They never applied the densicrete and never fixed our porch or sealed our sidewalk and step that were in perfect condition prior to them power washing incident.

It is now the summer of 2016, four years from the time this whole mess started. We are left with two contracts that were never honored, a cracked driveway after less than one year after installation, as well as a leaning wall. The second new driveway is not even level by our garage door. There is a significant gap on the left side which lets air and mice in.

I have to say working with Foundation Station has been extremely frustrating. The way we were treated was horrible. Calls and texts were consistently ignored and when they were returned they were frequently aggressive in nature, especially to my wife. My regret is not submitting this complaint sooner. I hope no one else has had to endure what we have with Foundation Station. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Sincerely,
