Four Lakes Paving Reviews (4)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]
Regards,
[redacted] Four Lakes never indicated to myself or my neighbor that they would not be starting the driveway in April when we signed the contract.  We were given at least 4 dates that they would be there to start and nobody showed.  No call from Four Lakes to explain why, my neighbor had to call them to find out what the problem was.  In their response they make it sound like it just went how it was supposed to, and that was not the case at all.  When I spoke to [redacted] the week before they actually came and finished the job, be told me at that time that a few hundred dollars would be knocked off the bill.  Now they offer $100.00, $50.00 for each of us.  That is not acceptable.  If we would not continued to call, I doubt the driveway would be done now.  This is a terrible way to run a company.  As far as my neighbor saying the driveway is beautiful, it is an improvement.  But we had to wait way too long and we should not of had to constantly call them to get it done.  And to have to deal with that rude lady that answers the phone, was adding insult to injury.

We stand by our previous response to this complaint. However in a good faith effort to settle this we will deduct an additional $100.00 from the final billing for a total discount of $200.00 .

On 4/5/15 a proposal was signed by our customer. This is well before our season starts. We started prep work in Mid May this year. At the time of the estimate it was noted on the proposal that drainage is minimal 1% or less. During our contact with our customer we expressed our concerns with the...

minimal drainage on the drivewayand that we wanted to make sure we were all on the same page with expectations for drainage. We sent our grading foreman out to the job site in Early june to shoot grades. He confirmed that drainage was an issue. We presented the customer with a letter about the site conditions. They signed the letter on 6/20/15. On July 27 we graded the driveway. When we present our proposals we tell our customers that we allow a couple of weeks between grading and paving. Weather factors into this timing also on this project the city had to adjust the water valve boxes in driveway which affects the timing. If everything went perfectly the first date we would have completed the paving would have been August 11th, as it worked out we had a tentative schedule of the week of August 17th for paving. That week on Monday and Tuesday we had alot of rain .36" Monday and 1.52" on Tuesday. As a result paving was pushed back to the following week to allow the base to dry. [redacted] called to tell us the driveway was under water. I told her it was in both our best interest to hold off paving until the following week after the driveway had a chance to dry out. The customer states they were without the use of their driveway for 5 months. The only time the driveway did not have pavement on it was while it was graded this turned out to be 4 weeks. Most of our customers use the drive while it is gravel. Others don't because of the drop at the garage and sidewalk. We feel that we needed to get a full understanding of the drainage issues before we did thework and it took a bit of discussion and paper work to get that accomplished. Once the work was started the paving was completed in a reasonable amount of time. We understand their frustration with the process, and Offered a $100.00 credit as a good will gesture. I would also like to note that the other owner of the property called and said that the driveway was beautiful.

Review: I own 1/2 a duplex in Deforest WI with a shared driveway. My next door neighbor and I signed a contract with Four Lakes Paving on 4/2/15 to have our driveway 1). Excavate and remove existing asphalt driveway, 2). Install & maintain a 8" average crushed limestone base course, 3) Fine grade and compact, 4) Install & maintain a 2 1/2" average compact hot mix asphalt pavement. Total area was 712 square feet. The cost was $3295.00. We heard nothing from them for weeks on end. My neighbor called several times was given dates they would be there, they never showed up, no calls. When we called back to the company the woman who answered the phone is extremely rude, unprofessional, and tries to bully you. Then finally they show up to do #1,2 &3 in mid July. We were told at that time they would be back in 1 1/2 weeks to install the asphalt. We were unable to drive on the driveway during that time, so unable to use our garages. They never showed back up. No call, no message. After 3 weeks of dry weather that they could of come and installed the blacktop, it rained very hard. So now we have several inches of water standing in our driveway. I called and spoke to the owner and expressed my dissatisfaction with the company, their lack of work ethic and was given a promise they would be there the next week after it had dried to lay the asphalt. I was also told an adjustment would be made to our bill for us having to wait almost 5 months to have have our driveway completed. They did come the next week and completed the work. The bill arrived and an adjustment of $100.00 was offered. This is not a fair amount, it was 2 families that were affected by their lack of completing this job. I called and spoke to the woman, she again was extremely rude and unprofessional. Very disappointed in the way we were treated by this company.Desired Settlement: My neighbor and I have discussed a fair resolution and feel that a bill adjustment of $500.00 is fair. We waited almost 5 months to have this job completed, with no contact from the company. It was our constant calling that got this job done, I believe it still would not be done if we hadn't called numerous times. It became a joke in the neighborhood that we had decided to go to a gravel driveway.
