Four Seasons Tree Service

I hired [redacted], [redacted] of Four Seasons Tree Service of Fitchburg, MA. He was recommended to me by a very close friend. When I first contacted him he always answered his phone, or called me back very soon after I left a voice mail message. He quoted me a price of $1450 to remove four small tree, trim trees along the side of the house, remove one extremely large pine tree, and clean up the yard. We scheduled a time for him to start the work. This all happened in a very timely manner. He told me he would not be able to do all the work in my yard in one day. I was lead to believe the work would take around three days. I was told that his company is small and he does not have extra support staff to send out to do multiple jobs at a time. He showed up at my house on 5/8/14. The first day he was there he removed 4 smaller trees from my yard. He had forgotten about trimming the trees along side of my house. He cleaned up the yard nicely. He also told me that his guys lost footing while taking down one of the trees and dropped it on my post and rail fence. Two rail were broken and two posts were also damaged. He also told me that he cut his leg with his chain saw while up in his bucket. I was concerned and he assured me that he was fine and apologized profusely about the fence. He told me that he would run over to home depot, pick up the rails and come back early the next morning to fix the fence and at least do the trimming. He said he would be back the following week to take down the large pine tree. At his request, I paid him $700, since he would be back the next day. That was the last time he was at my house. He became more and more difficult to reach. I was told his family was sick and he got behind on his work. His phone was disconnected for a time also. He stopped returning my calls, texts, and emails. I have paid him too much money for the completed work and my fence is broken.Product_Or_Service: Tree removal/trimmingDesired SettlementI believe that [redacted] has done $400 worth of work at my house. The most expensive part of his job would have been taking down the large pine tree. I feel he needs to refund me $300 and fix my fence properly. If he completes the tree trimming and fixes my fence, I feel he still owes me $100. I do not want him taking down the large pine tree because I do not trust him to safely do the work.
