Fox Valley Asphalt Reviews (8)

We are closed for the winter.  This issue will be handled in the spring when we re-open for business.  Mr. [redacted]'s driveway was also seal coated.  His half down payment didn't even cover the costs of the labor and materials used on his driveway.  Our company assumed that he was...

using a non-payment as a "non-satisfied" response to the services he either did or didn't receive.   Furthermore;  most customer's  (if they are going to file a complaint)   usually will complete one during the construction season........not in the dead of winter when nothing can be completed or resolved until months after the complaint. This issue will have to wait until summer of  2016;  when weather permits this type of work to be completed. Brad Best[redacted]

As of today;  ( 9-15-15 )  I have spoken with both [redacted] & [redacted].  Their attached complaint goes without warrant given the type of repair that was needed.  This area was not patched last year as per [redacted]'s claim;  it was simply crack sealed.  The...

edge of their driveway has settled along with the sub-base that is underneath the paved driveway.  This is typical for driveways that are on constructed on slopes.  By no means is this condition any responsibility of Fox Valley Asphalt,  or any other paving contractor who could have paved this original project.  Consumers should fully expect to perform routine maintenance on their driveways for whatever the asphalt's needs may be.  Last year's services were performed at NO CHARGE to the [redacted]'s as a courtesy to them for the driveway that was installed 3 years ago.  This year's services were contracted out for patching the edge of the driveway that settled.  This work has been completed as per industry standard,  however they are not happy with the way it looks.  I explained what the service would be, and that sealing the driveway ( even though not needed ) would "hide or cover"  the patch.   Unfortunately,  this lousy   $500.00  patch has escalated into a full blown complaint and a series of rude phone calls to our office directed at our secretary.  After speaking with [redacted]; it was agreed that Fox Valley Asphalt would write off the balance due ( $250.00 ) and apply a single coat of sealer at no charge to them for the entire driveway.  I saw this problem coming from the very beginning on this project and probably should have just simply walked away;  however I felt compelled to try and repair this area for them, given that the driveway was installed by Fox Valley Asphalt, through their building contractor.  Unfortunately,  this has blown up in our face and we will simply chalk this one up as another customer that cannot be satisfied no matter what.  Once this driveway is sealed, I fully expect to have this matter closed out as satisfied.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]
I made many attempts to contact Fox Valley Asphalt by email and phone for a response regarding my dissatisfaction of the work they performed shortly after the work was completed, which was mid summer. The only response was from Ron [redacted] stating that he forwarded the information on to Brad Best. I have never received any replies from Brad Best concerning this matter. I tried to resolve this issue during the construction season with Fox Valley Asphalt direct with no response. If as they said in their response that they assumed non payment was considered by them as a “non-satisfied” response, why didn’t they follow up rather than not answering emails and phone calls?Didn’t think getting the Revdex.com involved was standard practice in resolving a dispute and was hoping to settle the matter between Fox Valley Asphalt and myself. I am rejecting their response because they are not saying what they are going to do to resolve this matter. I do understand the work cannot be completed during winter, that is why I said in my desired settlement, “when weather permits”.Regards,
Mike [redacted]

Response:

This problem was already taken care of to [redacted]'s satisfaction.

Review: Last November, Fox Valley Asphalt installed a new blacktop driveway replacing our older one. This required a written contract with 1/2 the cost due before they would even put us in their schedule. After numerous phone calls, they finally completed the job which was unacceptable because of a section which immediately developed an area of severe cracks.

They reviewed the problem area and they agreed that my complaint was legitimate and subsequently created an unsightly patch which I did not like. However, I did pay the balance and they assured me it would look okay after the seal coating they reccommended within one years time was done.

This seal coating also required the 1/2 down payment before they would schedule. Prior to the seal coating, numerous cracks began to develop throughout much of the driveway. They assured me the seal coating would alleviate the problem.

The seal coating did not resolve the cracking problem so they sent a crew to patch the worst cracks which did not work and further added to the appearance problem. The cracks continue to develop creating an even greater problem. They sent me a letter on 8/13/2013 indicating I did not have to pay the balance of bill due for the seal coating and stated that they had already incurred serious cost over-runs and considered the job complete.

Several friends of mine told me this was a poor way for them to run a business and I certainly agree. So far they have ignored my desire to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution to my problems after numerous contacts on their web site and e-mails.

I am not an expert on blacktop driveways, but the nature of my problem leads me to believe they had a significant quality problem of some kind that they should take care of. I do not feel they are meeting the terms of our signed contract.

They have not been willing to observe my problem with me present to resolve it.Desired Settlement: Correct the aforementioned problems ASAP. After this coming winter and spring, the water and ice with freezing and thawing will literally destroy this new driveway.

If repair is not possible, replacement or refund are options.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: The workers of FVA came to our home to work, my husband very carefully told them where they could and could not go, as far as property lines, however the workers proceeded to operate on our neighbors driveway with the FVA equipment which leaked and took off the seal coating on our neighbors driveway. Our neighbors have complained to us. I tried calling FVA Sept 10, 11 and 14th as well as sent emails to [redacted] and [redacted] with no response.

Additionally, my husband and I have questions regarding the quality of workmanship done at our home that we wanted to speak to, as well as an incident with workers that occurred while they were working at our home, whereby the workers told us that the job would cost us 2 time more then quoted if we were to work thru [redacted], however if we worked thru them the additional cost would only be $300.00, when we refused the workers had indicated that it was free. We are concerned about the kind of ethics and workmanship that was completed.

Also, our driveway was originally installed by FVA via our builder about 2 years ago, FVA came out and patched this same area a year ago, and it continued to get worse to the point that we now have to pay for this repair, and still after all of this the job is not completely correctly for us, and in fact has caused additional problems with the neighbors and our driveway is still not right.Desired Settlement: We are looking for our neighbors to be made whole as well as for our job to be completed to our satisfaction, that our driveway look complete and well finished instead of streaked. As well as the new asphalt be compacted and compressed in the areas that currently appear loose and not well molded to the balance of the driveway.

We are writing a response to complaint [redacted] for Fox Valley Asphalt . We did not respond to this business as he did not complete the agreed upon requirements until last Friday, September 25, 2015 at which time this claim was already closed. We did however call the local office and were given your information to send this letter. We have been on vacation this week but would like to respond to this claim as follows:

Review: A asphalt driveway was installed and there is ponding of water due to improper installation that will result in a large area of ice when cold weather comes. I have called repeatedly and have only been called back once but no one has come to look at the problem. The bill has been paid in full as per the contract.Desired Settlement: To have proper drainage to prevent water from ponding.

Response:

The original problem has been resolved but in the process of removing the asphalt the concrete curb and a lawn ornament were damaged and that has not been resolved. [redacted]

Review: Provider installed a driveway at [redacted] in [redacted] and damaged the side of my house with the steam roller. They also installed the driveway to high against the house melting some of the siding and not allowing the siding to sit correctly.

I have called multiple times and left multiple messages with people and on voice mail, but no one will call me back. They also continue to send me bills with late fees (I paid half up front with other half due after completion of job).Desired Settlement: Please repair the height of driveway to house to allow proper drainage and clearance of the siding. Also, need to repair siding damaged during installation of driveway. Please contact me.

Please find the enclosed pictures that pertain to an alleged complaint from Mr.[redacted], that was filed earlier this year from an unpaid project that we completedin 2013. I have already responded once to this ridiculous complaint, and this is afollow-up letter to my last response.Mr. [redacted] is trying to blame his poor siding work on his rental home, on theasphalt installation which was performed within all industry standards. The enclosedpictures clearly show that not only does Mr. [redacted] have issues with the siding on thedriveway side; but the siding around the entire home has the same problems; asdepicted in the picture taken on the. other side of this home. Clearly there isn't anyasphalt along this side of the home.During my site visit to this home for these pictures on June 26 of this year; youcould clearly see that the siding work on the lower half of the home was insufficient. Ifound a lot of the siding barely hanging on to the outer wood work of the home, creatingthat wavy look you can see in the pictures. Both of our crews ( [redacted]) werequestioned about this appearance; and they both confirmed this appearance before anyof our work began. Additionally, had any of our equipment scraped the side of hishome, there would be substantial damage to the siding that you would see almost 6 - 8feet up; and you don't.Finally, Mr. [redacted] also complained about water standing in his driveway. Thisis clearly not the case; as the pictures of clean pavement without "water stains" show. These stains you would acquire after water stood for a long period of time. Thisdriveway was paved in August of 2013; and almost a year later, it's clean as a whistle.Even after a winter of snow and ice! A great job by our company! After 25 years of serving the Northeast Wisconsin, we have been accustomed torun into a few customers every year that just simply don't want to pay for the servicesthey receive. This is clearly the case here! Furthermore; we are appalled to the factthat Mr. [redacted] has actually submitted a complaint to the Revdex.com , for aflawless project that he never even paid for in full.
