Foxchase Manor Reviews (3)

Review: My husband and I got married at Foxchase Manor. We had a Hindu wedding ceremony and a reception afterwards. The venue itself was very nice, but the people there are very misleading. Sammy, the owner had us believe that he or his assistant Patty were going to coordinate our wedding on the day of. After very rude behavior from Patty we asked Sammy if he would be there on our wedding day coordinating and making sure everything was being done correctly. He promised us he would and even told us he was cancelling another big wedding event just for ours. On the day of the wedding, we had about 150 guests and that's what we had arranged with the staff at Foxchase Manor. During the wedding and reception, the servers at Foxchase Manor were very confused, they had no idea what they were doing. They had no one coordinating with them. Sammy had promised us he would be there coordinating our event and making sure every thing was in place. He was no where to be found. We had strictly told the staff to bring out the wedding cake at a certain time during the reception, but they had brought it out during the wedding ceremony, which was very embarrassing because they kept bringing it out and then taking it back. The trash around the hall was not being taken care of and the guests noticed that. The staff were also supposed to be refilling every one's drinks and making sure the food was coming out in a timely manner. We had food catered from another vendor. During the reception dinner, half of the food was left at the kitchen and was not served by the servers to our guests. This in return left us short handed and our families did not get to eat. The worst part of it all was when my husband and I were getting ready for our reception, some one told us they spotted Sammy and we asked them to bring him to us so we could speak to him. When Sammy stopped by our dressing room, he already came with an attitude. My husband asked him why he wasn't coordinating the wedding and Sammy's response to that was "that was not in the deal, you need to pay me to do that". Once he said that, my husband got upset and in response to that, Sammy also started shouting and behaving very rudely with an attitude. Sammy slammed the door in front of all of our guests who were near by and walked out. After that we did not see him until the very end of our reception when he was trying to kick us out. His behavior was unacceptable. He did this in front of all of our guests which shows he had no respect for us. We paid a lot of money for our wedding. My husband and I were recent undergrads and we paid full amount for the wedding, even though we have student loans. We had to pay Sammy extra money just to accommodate for a few extra people. Not only was his behavior rude, his phone etiquette was also very bad, it was very hard to contact him or meet up with him. Along with Sammy's rude behavior, there was Patty, she was the person handling our event in the beginning but she was very impolite and very discriminating. She made us feel like we were lower then her. This was the reason why we had asked Sammy to help us coordinate the wedding instead of her. He made us so many promises but they were all lies.

In the beginning Sammy was very polite, he was very helpful. But once we payed him the full amount of money, he seemed to have lost interest and didn't care. He told us a lot of misleading things and he asked for more money for extra seats for the reception which we paid but the seats were never even given at the reception. We had expected a lot from Foxchase Manor and their staff, but at the end of the day we were left with unsatisfactory service and rude behavior.Desired Settlement: All we wanted was a nice wedding with good service. We never got that, we worked hard to pay for our wedding and didn't get the service we deserved.

November 21, 2014Dear [redacted],I am responding to a letter I received from your office, dated on November 17, 2014, regarding a complaint that your office received on 10/20/2014, by a past client of ours, [redacted].In the catering and banquet hall industry, we strive to provide the very best experience - service possible for every potential client, and clients- alike. Anything contrary to that, would have our expectancy in this business short lived at best. It's unacceptable to haveour clients and their guest, receive nothing but the very best experience with us; for that, I apologize, whole hardly.I’ve made several attempts to verbally express my apologies to the Sakar's, but to no avail, that haven't returned my calls. We do currently have an email on-file for them ([redacted]), I’ll be sure to follow-up with an email, expressing my apologies for any actions that might have been taken offensively.I thank you in advance for contacting me. Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

On Tuesday, June 9, 2015 I signed a Hold Agreement with Gala Cuisine at Foxchase Manor of Manassas, VA (hereby referred to as Foxchase Manor). The Hold Agreement states that “The client has until June 15th 2015 to make a decision about the venue. If at that time they decide not to go with Foxchase Manor then the client will be refunded their $3000 deposit”. As per the hold agreement, I paid $3000.00 to Foxchase Manor via my credit card. On Friday, June 12th 2015 I cancelled the Hold Agreement with Foxchase Manor. On Monday, June 15th 2015 I received confirmation from a representative of Foxchase Manor that my cancellation request was received and that “a refund should be issued to you shortly”. As of Sunday July 12, 2015 I did not receive a refund from Foxchase Manor, so I sent an email to Foxchase Manor. On Monday, July 13, 2015 a representative of Foxchase Manor informed me that Foxchase Manor issued a refund and would look into why I did not receive the refund.
I checked with my credit card company and was informed that Foxchase Manor did not issue me a refund. Thus I went ahead and disputed the $3000 that I paid Foxchase Manor. My credit card company informed me that they would check with Foxchase Manor to confirm that I was supposed to be issued a $3000 refund. On September 12, 2015 I was informed by my credit card that Foxchase Manor disputed the validity of my refund of $3000.
Based on my experience thus far with Foxchase Manor I would not attempt to use the services of this business in the future, I would not recommend this business to my family or friends. I am having difficulty understanding why a reputable business cannot abide by its own refund policy.

Review: I wanted to rent one of the two ballrooms at Fox Chase Manor for my wedding on October 11th, 2013. I mailed the rental contract with the initial check of $2,925.00 on Friday November 2nd, 2012. Of the $2,925.00 check, $1,000 would be refundable after the event, given no damages were incurred. Fox Chase Manor cashed my check on Thursday November 8th 2012. I called [redacted] at Fox Chase Manor on Friday November 9th, 2012 about cancelling the contract – as plans with other vendors fell through and I could no longer afford to host my wedding at Fox Chase Manor.

I was told verbally by [redacted] – with two others as my witness - that if we were to cancel the contract, within 7 days, I could get the $1,000 deposit back. Given my check was cashed on the Thursday, November 8th, it has not yet been 7 days (from the day I sent the contract and check via USPS).

When I called and spoke to [redacted] on Friday November 2nd, I was told we would not get $1,000 back – which was not what I was told verbally. I had been calling and sending emails back and forth with [redacted] and [redacted] (the General Manager) up until the beginning of January with no resolution. I simply wanted the $1,000 deposit back, since I was verbally told I could have it back if the contract was cancelled within 7 days of receipt. My contract did not prevent Fox Chase from booking other events, nor were any events other than mine, in the processes of being booked during this time. As far as I’m concerned, they took $1,000 of my money and provided me with NO services.

Aside from calling [redacted] on Friday November 9th, 2012 to cancel my contract, I gave my official written notice of cancellation on Wednesday November 14th, 2012 via email. I was then told, via email, I was to receive my refund within 30 business days from November 14th. I did not receive the refund check until December 31st. Although the check was dated December 26th, it was not mailed until December 29th - after the 30 business day time frame promised. Fox Chase Manor tried to hold me to a contract which they did not adhere to.

I have been very patient and respectful throughout this entire process. My last email to [redacted] regarding the refund stated, “With all due respect, I gave prompt notice of cancellation when I found out initial plans fell through and I have been very patient. I would also like to reiterate that [redacted] told us that we had 7 days to cancel our contract before the $1,000 would be non-refundable - two others who were with us that day heard the same thing. Therefore I respectfully request that you reconsider and refund the full amount of my initial check. Again, I don't think it's right that you had my contract less than a week and are keeping $1,000 of my money which your company has done nothing for. You have not lost out on potential business and have not provided me with any service - all you have done is take $1,000 from me for nothing and then did not return the remaining amount within the promised time frame. We have a very limited budget and this is having a significant impact on us financially.”Desired Settlement: I would like my $1,000 refunded. I was lied to and quite frankly my money was "stolen" as NO services were provided to me.
