I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There were many issues with workmanship that was done to our roof One, the can vents were removed and the wood decking where the can vents were located the wood should have been replaced by code it was not It was covered over by ice guard and tar paper subsequently I have no idea if it was sealed properly since it was not code Second, there were numerous mis-nailings on roof and some were caulked with brown silicon to match roof You cannot see this from the groundThird, I was told that feet of ice guard was code but they put on feet of ice guard all non-breathable I don't understand why that was done Fourth, wood was replaced on the back of the house, which is a warmed area and there is no warping I requested wood on the front too and was told that Franciscus was not in the wood business I was told if it held a nail it was fine That is not true! Fifth, I had to go to Home Depot to purchase soffit vents and the salesman is the one that installed them He said, he would put them in because it was not quoted in the original quote He explained how a ridge vent worked taking air from the bottom soffit vents and exhausting it through the ridge vent on the top.I was told my two different contractors that they believe it was not an HVAC issue and the insulation was fine and to code when home was built Warping of plywood decking can be caused by water entering through small openings that weren't sealed properly, which warped the deck and causing the center ridge vent to start pushing up in six different areas. This is what I believe is the case As far as asking the representative to leave, he was quite rude and argumentative Also, I hold a EPA Universal HVAC license In all my years of HVAC, I have never seen this occur I am not looking for the whole roof to be replaced just the front area that needs repaired Regards, [redacted] ***

My issue with Fransiscus did not end because the contract was voidedI told them I don't want anything to do with them anymore because I got tired of waiting for them to come and finish the job They promise customers things that they cannot doTheir incompetence caused my siding to dilapidate even further and forced me to have to look for another contractor and have to wait even longer for the work to be doneIf they said in September when they first came out to do the estimate that it may not get done till December I would've found someone else then and it would be fixed now Instead they said the first weeks of OctoberDo not promise people things you cannot realistically do! I don't know how they got their rating on Revdex.com because it's misleading just like they are

Business response taken over the phone by Revdex.com staff 12/23/ The repair was completed

It is clear to me that neither Franciscus Roofing nor *** Insulation understand that after years of problems with my Andersen skylights, it is most curious that wet spots emerged within months of installing the Velux skylights. It is most curious that no wet spots emerged during the winter of 2014, despite its severity. It is most curious that after *** Insulation repositioned the insulation, the problem was solved It is most curious that Franciscus Roofing said the air flow in the attic was poor It is most curious that *** found the air flow to be just fine.It is most curious that no evidence could be found to support the reframing of the skylight openings even though painters were sent from Franciscus roofing to repair and repaint the opening

We spoke with the homeowner and the both parties agreed to void the contract There are no liabilities for either party, no work to be performed by the contractor on the property and no monies owed to contractor by homeowner

On 9/12/we spoke with a technical support representative at RPI, the manufacturer of the material and confirmed a re-enforcement patch on the membrane at the area of concern is acceptable and will not affect the manufacturer's warranty in any way. It was also confirmed that the contract did not specify a seamless system We offered the re-enforcement solution and to extend our labor warranty from years to years. The h/o declined and stated he will get back to us

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Franciscus is claiming insulation. MrFranciscus, nor any other representative of his firm even entered my house, went into the attic to even view my insulation. It's all speculation on his part. It's due to shoddy workmanship and not failure of insulation. They need to stand by their warranty and make this right.Regards,

complaint has brought to our attention an issue within our email routing system. The email correspondence sent on3/9/15 to “[email protected]” (along with many others) was not forwarded to the proper channels within our organiza-tion. The complaint has prompted us to correct this issue immediately so we are never in a position to miss an importantemail again. In addition, the timing of the letter sent by US Mail on 3/11/15 couldn’t have been worse. I was out of the office beginning3/12/15 (when the letter arrived) and returned today, 3/25/15 (I received the Revdex.com notification this morning at 2:14am)Please know we were not blatantly ignoring the correspondences, we just became aware of them today and we sincerelyapologize.I have had the opportunity the review the report [redacted] at [redacted] Insulation provided to us, but was unable toidentify the section the homeowner refers to in the complaint. The homeowner states the following:“On February 26th, Mr. [redacted] did a thorough and lengthy problem-solving assessment and concluded that althoughthe skylight was not leaking, the manner in which it was installed caused the cracks and water spots. Since the origi-nal Andersen skylight was much larger, the opening needed to be reframed to accommodate the Velux skylight. Duringthat process, the insulation was pushed aside and never repositioned, thereby preventing appropriate air flow. This has resulted in two large, ugly brown spots above and below the skylight and multiple cracks resulting along the ceil-ing and the intersection of wall and ceiling. ”After reviewing the report provided to us, we respectfully disagree the staining and cracking are due to our workmanshipand therefore are not covered under our warranty.Again, we apologize the unfortunate timing of the correspondences, coupled with an internal email routing issue caused adelay in responding to the homeowner within a more acceptable timeframe.Respectfully,[redacted]Senior Project Manager, C.O.O.

We contacted the manufacturer of the material on August 3rd and have reached out to them again to obtain the requested warranty information and to confirm whether or not our suggested resolution for the current issue would still be covered under their warranty.  Since we removed and reinstalled...

the roof system once already, a full refund is not being considered at this time. We will be sure to keep the consumer and Revdex.com informed as we receive information from the manufacturer regarding this roof system and the accompanying warranty.  We apologize for the delay in this process and are looking forward to coming to an equitable resolution as well.

Our initial assessment of the buckling wood was the result of observations we made on the exterior of the home.  The roof deck is only buckled over the warm living space portion of the home. It is not buckled over the unheated garage area.  The homeowner also informed our representative a new high efficiency furnace was recently installed in the home. Very often, when the dynamics of a home are altered due to the installation of a new mechanical system, the next weakest link becomes magnified, in the case, possibly the insulation.   Unfortunately, once the representative who visited the house initially on July 21, 2017 began to suggest to the homeowner the underlying issue which was causing the roof to buckle over the warm living space could be something other than the roof system, the homeowner became defensive and asked our representative to leave before providing us the opportunity to inspect the attic space.  Please know we would be more than happy to visit the property and perform an attic inspection for this consumer.  We are also still waiting to receive and review the report(s) and photos the homeowner received from the other contractor(s) he referred to in his initial complaint to the Revdex.com.  Please advise on how you would like us to proceed.  Thank you.

We were at the property to assess the issue and don't believe this to be a roofing issue.  It appears the buckling of the roof deck is due to moisture and condensation in the attic space as a result of poor insulation.  During the colder winter months, every home has a warm living space...

environment and a cold attic space environment. If these two environments are not separated by the correct R-value of insulation, the combination of warm and cold air meeting in the attic creates moisture in the attic space which can (and will) cause the roof deck to weaken and buckle.  We have recommended the homeowner contact an insulation contractor to assess the issue as well.  In the meantime, please forward the reports and photos from the other roofing contractors the homeowner mentions in the complaint and we will be happy to review them and get back to the him after doing so.  Best Regards,Franciscus Incorporated

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There were many issues with workmanship that was done to our roof.  One, the can vents were removed and the wood decking where the can vents were located the wood should have been replaced by code it was not.  It was covered over by ice guard and tar paper subsequently I have no idea if it was sealed properly since it was not code.  Second, there were numerous mis-nailings on roof and some were caulked with brown silicon to match roof.  You cannot see this from the ground. Third, I was told that 3 feet of ice guard was code but they put on 6 feet of ice guard all non-breathable.  I don't understand why that was done.  Fourth,  wood was replaced on the back of the house, which is a warmed area and there is no warping.  I requested wood on the front too and was told that Franciscus was not in the wood business.  I was told if it held a nail it was fine.  That is not true!   Fifth, I had to go to Home Depot to purchase 12 soffit vents and the salesman is the one that installed them.  He said, he would put them in because it was not quoted in the original quote.  He explained how a ridge vent worked taking air from the bottom soffit vents and exhausting it through the ridge vent on the top.I was told my two different contractors that they believe it was not an HVAC issue and the insulation was fine and to code when home was built.  Warping of plywood decking can be caused by water entering through small openings that weren't sealed properly, which warped the deck and causing the center ridge vent to start pushing up in six different areas. This is what I believe is the case.  As far as asking the representative to leave, he was quite rude and argumentative.  Also, I hold a 608 EPA Universal HVAC license.  In all my years of HVAC, I have never seen this occur.  I am not looking for the whole roof to be replaced just the front area that needs repaired.

It is most curious we did not receive any correspondence from the homeowner over the last four days of torrential downpours of water entering the home (which would have undoubtedly confirmed there is a problem with the work performed at the property).

Business response taken over the phone by Revdex.com staff 12/23/15.  The repair was completed.

My issue with Fransiscus did not end because the...

contract was voided. I told them I don't want anything to do with them anymore because I got tired of waiting for them to come and finish the job.  They promise customers things that they cannot do. Their incompetence caused my siding to dilapidate even further and forced me to have to look for another contractor and have to wait even longer for the work to be done. If they said in September when they first came out to do the estimate  that it may not get done till December I would've found someone else then and it would be fixed now.  Instead they said the first 2 weeks of October. Do not promise people things you cannot realistically do! I don't know how they got their rating on Revdex.com because it's misleading just like they are.
