Review: I purchased a gift card for $100 as a Christmas gift for a friend. She attempted to use the gift card today and found that there was a 90 day expiration. The salon at first wouldn't honor the card but then agreed to cover the cost of her blow out which was only $25. I called to try to get the difference back for her. The man I spoke with would not provide his name, stated he only maintains records for 90 days and therefore cannot allow a gift card to be used after the date. He also said that he "worked it out" by allowing her to use the card for the blow out. He argued the cost was actually $45 and over a year had passed, when in reality it has been only 6 months since the gift card was purchased. He refused to provide a refund or additional credit. When I explained to him that he essentially stole $75 from me and it was against the law to not honor a gift card he said he couldn't help me. When I told him of my plans to file a complaint with the Revdex.com, he hung up on me.Desired Settlement: I would like the salon to provide my friend with the services that I paid for her to have.

I am responding to your letter of complaint dated July **, 2013. I sold on December **, 2012 a gift certificate entitles to [redacted] for the Face Value of $100.00. The face of the Certificate has an expiration date of March **, 2013. Copy of Certificate attached for your review. The certificate was presented for service at my salon on July **, 2013. We explained to customer the Certificate has expired but will accommodate her with a Wash and Blow dry. This service standard cost is $44.00. This price varies based on length of hair. This always disclosed ahead of service with customer. The cost of service rendered to [redacted] was $50.00 dollar. The customer later called the person who presented the Certificate to her and incorrectly related that service was refused. As a courtesy, we are always willing to work with clients and work out a solution even thou her Certificate has expired.

We are willing to extend the difference of the certificate to [redacted] in service, to be used no later than August **, 2013. We will not accommodate a refund because the certificate has expired and not redeemable for cash.
