I had three bids written up before I selected [redacted] to refinish badly worn white oak floors comprising several black areas due to water damage. With a limited budget, I did not really want to patch the bad areas. I thought I'd go for a "rustic" look and I wanted the floors to be oiled rather than coated with polyurethane.

[redacted] listened carefully to my argumentation; he clearly did not think it would look good, but he proposed to come and sand the worst area so that I could make a test with the oil product I wanted to use. He was right: The oil highlighted the color contrasts between damaged and intact wood, and the trial-patch looked so bad that I now thought I might have to replace some floor boards. I did not know what to do. Happily the carefully written estimate that I received just one day after [redacted]’s visit, eased my indecision. It came with ample information about the process, and it was detailed, with an overall cost, and a cost per floorboard should I choose to replace some of those.

You see it right away: They don’t exert any pressure to have you sign up an estimate written on the spot. They truly know hardwood floors. They stand behind their work and are able to tell you pretty well what to expect from it. They listen carefully. They are responsive and they demonstrate flexibility.

Now, as far as the work itself is concerned, the praise does not stop: They are super punctual, polite, very hard working. I did not get any boards replaced: I am pretty sure that they spent more time on those dark areas than they thought they would, yet when the bill came, it was exactly what I had been quoted.

Last but not least, the result truly surpassed my expectations. The floors are truly beautiful!

I was very pleased with this company's refinishing of my kitchen floor. in the first place, they were willing to do this small job. they were very flexible regarding scheduling. there was a lot of water damage to the floor, but they made it beautiful.

This was the third time we used Frank H Duffy, Inc to do floors for us. As usual, they were punctual and professional. We are doing kitchen work and the floor is the only thing we haven't had a problem with the work. Chris is great to work with and answers any and all questions. I had just went to google to find a person who could sand floors in the Medford area and Duffy came up. I read the reviews--all excellent--and saw that they were backed by the Revdex.com. I got another quote but it was 50 dollars more and they only applied 2 coats of polyurethane--not the 3 Duffy did.. The team at Duffy came and were very professional and funny. They did an 11x13 room in about an hour or so, sanding it and applying a coat of polyurethane. They came right when they said they would. They came 2 more times, each time , first thing in the morning applying another coat, and each time right on time, if not a few minutes early. I wish I had the time to empty more rooms so I could get more of my rooms done but that wasn't possible this time. You won't be disappointed. Believe the reviews!

We just had five rooms of hardwood floors refinished that were eighty plus years old and they now look fantastic!

[redacted] was a great help with the many questions we had and we had many. He returned calls promptly and his workers ( [redacted] & [redacted]) arrived on schedule as we planned.

[redacted] & [redacted] made some repairs to the floor and when they completed their work each day they cleaned up and didn't leave anything behind.

We had a terrific experience with Duffy floors. They were excellent communicators at every step of the process, called when they said they would, explained things when we had questions and made sure that the work was to our satisfaction when the job was done. There were a couple of spots that needed touching up - a moth had landed on the wet product and a couple of brush bristles were imbedded in it in another spot. They came over right away to fix it.

The team worked carefully to put up plastic to protect different areas and to create a vapor barrier for us (we stayed in the downstairs part of the house). Everything was removed after the job, no damage to the walls. They used a dust-free system, which really worked. We had amazingly little cleanup to do afterwards and had been able to leave dishes in the cabinets and stuff in the pantry. We did remove all coats and fabric items, as well as foods, because of the fumes from the floor sealer.

The floors look great and after 3 months seem to be holding up well. We are definitely satisfied with our experience with the company and would hire them again & recommend them to friends.

They were able to provide us with a reasonable assessement of the work--which was very close to the actual cost. They completed the work on time and the finished product was excellent.

I have nothing but positive comments for Duffy Floors.

Starting with the original estimate, [redacted] (the President) was punctual -- one flooring contractor never even showed up for his appointment. During the initial meeting, [redacted] was very informative about the process, rather than rushing through and leaving. He also showed attention to detail (like checking the basement circuit box to make sure enough power was coming into the house for his equipment...it's an old house). He emailed me his estimate the next day, rather than scribbling it down on the spot, and as a result, his estimate contained far more detail than any other proposal that we received.

And regarding his work -- the floors came out amazing. This is rental property, and the previous tenants had beaten the floors to death, leaving stains, scratches and deep gouges everywhere. All of these blemishes were completely removed. Furthermore, the prior tenants had pets and let them urinate inside the house, on the floors, leaving a disgusting smell that lasted for years while we repaired the property. That smell, too, was completely removed. What was left were gorgeous floors that completely transformed the appearance of the apartment. And he left us with detailed page of instructions on how to care for the floors on an ongoing basis -- in fact, even their website seems more like a Wikipedia page for hardwood flooring.

Throughout the process, [redacted] was professional and friendly. When we called and left a message with his receptionist, we would typically get a call-back within a few minutes. I would absolutely hire Duffy Floors again for our next flooring project.

I have been a customer of Duffy Floors for many years. The 1010-year-old floors in my Victorian have been in good hands. The quality of Duffy's work is exceptional. [redacted] is professional, highly accommodating, and resourceful. The job is always done on time and is fairly priced. They just resanded and polished several of my floors and replaced antique floor boards. The floors look fabulous. The dustless system and exceptional clean-up left barely a trace of dust. I recently used Duffy Floors to repair my hardwood flooring after some substantial water damage. A portion of the flooring had been cut out and the floor had to be patched in the kitchen and hallways and the whole house had to be sanded and refinished. [redacted] could not have been more accommodating. He worked with my schedule, recommended a moving company to move my furniture and kept me updated on the status. We were very happy with the work done to sand and refinish our parquet floor, which had been damaged by a broken water heater. The men came when they said, finished when they said, and the floor looks beautiful. When we asked for a water soluble varnish, as my husband has breathing problems, we were warned that this would lighten the finish. This was helpful information, but in fact the effect is very attractive.

Duffy Flooring did a wonderful job refinishing wood floors that are almost 100 years old, and hadn't been maintained for well over 25 years. The workers were prompt, efficient, and completed the job on time. There was a minimum of dust, hardly any. The rooms are completely transformed and the floors add to their new look substantially. When one repair job on another part of the house didn't work out, they responded promptly and corrected the problem immediately.
