Review: I purchased a vehicle from Franks Motorcars a couple of weeks ago. The first evening I drove the car I noticed a headlight was out. I purchased a new bulb ( 107.00 from auto-zone ) and when I put it in the headlight still did not work. When I brought it back to the dealer they said it was a headlight regulator. This repair cost 642.00 which Franks charged me 50% of this ( 321.00 ). Frank's new that the light was not working and I feel I should not have paid anything for this. When I was purchasing the car the salesman said they were " Cleaning " the headlights in the back. They should not have sold the car with with a non working headlight. This is something the state requires to be functional and they can not sell a car with a light out. Regards, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like my 321.00 dollars I paid returned to me.

Mr. [redacted] Purchased the car on 4/25/14 and signed an as-is agreement and a do-bill (statement of additional work promised by Franks) that states nothing else promised.

We did clean the the headlight covers just before delivery per Mr. [redacted] request.

The plastic covers over the headlights on this car and most cars dull and fade it's so common that there are commercials on TV that sell quick clean solutions.

The system that failed on Mr. [redacted] car after the 25th was an internal electronic control module, that could not be damaged by rubbing an external surface.

Mr. [redacted]'s car has full time driving lights that would have notified him via bright dash warning light if the headlight was non operational even during the day since the system is on all the time.

Mr [redacted]'s headlight worked at time of delivery and the car was sold as - is, his statement that he told the Salesperson [redacted] of the problem after his test drive was not noted on the Do -Bill nor did [redacted] have any recollection of being told the head light did not work when asked by me on the 28th of the same month.

We had an open service department on the 25th that would have looked into the matter right then and there, plus for safety reasons we would not have allowed the car to be delivered knowing the headlights were not working.

I believe that the system failed soon after delivery and hence we gave him a substantial discount on the repair as a goodwill gesture.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

First off, the malfunction only comes on when that system is activated. In this case it was not until the following week when I drove the car in the evening. It was only when I turned the lights on the malfunction warning came on. It was daylight when I bought the car so the warning was not displayed. I do not understand why they would clean the headlight lenses when the car was dirty. I did sign the as is form but I was expecting the vehicle in god satety working order. A non operational headlamp in not in good working order. And the daytime running lights on the car are not the headlights so the malfunction warning would not display when the light switch is not activated. The sellers response is not fully accurate and I have no doubt they new the light was out.
